Hey everyone. How was the long weekend? We had a relaxing, uneventful weekend up until sunday morning. Our Kingdom Hall burned down. :( It was so sad. We went there after the flames were put out and it's a total loss. The four exterior brick walls are standing, but everything was destroyed inside. So we have a lot of work ahead of us. We have our meeting tongiht at a neighboring hall so we'll find out more info tonight. Plus, our car was broken into sat. night. There were a few cars on our block hit. They only thing they got was my transpod...which is like $100. So we made a police report. But we could have had the GPS in there, my cd book, my ipod. Man, i would have been devasted. Especially about the cd book, because a lot of those things you can't replace. (CDs that were signed and such)
We usually always keep our doors locked, but we think we didn't sat. night, cuz we were carrying in a bunch of stuff from the car and prob just forgot. Ugh, it's so invasive to think someone was rifling through your things. it makes me mad.
So, that was our crazy weekend....sheesh.

It's so weird to see our elders & CO in news pics and them being quoted and stuff.
wow... i can't believe that. it says the fire may have been started by recessed lighting... i'm surprised the inspector didn't catch that when the building was put up
Terrible. but as it's been said, at least no one was in the Hall.
thats terrible! it was cool that the volunteers/quick build was mentioned though. good witness
i'm sorry to hear about your hall - do authorities suspect arson or anything like that?
also - my transpod is no longer being used, and you are welcome to it. I got it in 2005 so it's a little old, but definitely all yours.
No, they think it was an electrical malfunction. I think it's the 3rd link i posted has something about the lights.
aw, and that's really nice about the transpod, but a friend of ours is installing something like a transpod in my car. thanks dan!
Jahanna - Im so sorry to hear that... That's really sad, I guess when it rains it poors... thankfully we have this loving organization to strengthen us when we need it...
ugh sorry to hear about the hall and your car, wow, that really stinks :( and i'm really sad about the hall, those photos made me so sad!
UGH! im SO sorry about your hall! im w/kam, it really made me sad to read the article and see the pics!
and im sorry about your car also!
Wow. That's really rough. Sorry to hear about all this.
UPDATE:
So last night at the meeting. We were told the fire was definatly due to some recessed lighting that had insulation packed too tightly around it. And we're going to do our building project in Feb. in 4 days. How cool is that?! Reporters were at our meeting last night and videoed the whole first segment, and interviewed a number of people. There are more articles and stuff, all really positive. This is going to be a really good witness!!
wow, that's great! February! So fast, that's awesome.
wow that's great!
That's getting things done quickly. Had I found out about the fire on Sunday, maybe we would've stopped by... I was in Hershey & Lancaster over the weekend.
if you've learned anything from ezabsweater, its that you should lock your doors.
