are you kidding? REAL punk came WAY before this and it sounds quite different! this was the birth of pop/punk. don't fight it.
i havent said this is like badbrains or anti flag... but its def punk, and Face to Face was around before pop punk was even a thing....
either way, its freaking awesome...
i would def say that pop punk is one of the styles of punk played by face to face, and other skater punk bands like them, like NOFX, the offspring, lagwagon, NUFAN, and greenday just to name a few. there is nothing wrong with pop punk when it is played well.
but, there are plenty of bands that played punk before these guys, mostly out of new york, california, and the uk. social d. minor threat, the circle jerks, black flag, bad religion, dead kennedys, the sex pistols, the clash, and the beastie boys all come to mind. and even before those guys their were the ramones, the new york dolls, the romantics etc.
some of those bands date back to 1970, and as bv mentioned, protopunk (bands like the stooges, and i can't really think of any other examples) goes all the way back to the 60's. so even gina, at the whopping age of 35 hasn't been around since the begining.
so dan, as crappy as you think punk music is, it has an awesome history, filled with some of the most influential bands, and individual musicians ever to walk the planet. and any rock and roller, including neil peart, would call you an 'IGNANT FOO' if he read your comments regarding the genre.

Whatever dude... If I told him I respect the musical talent but hate the style, he'd probably be fine with me. What would he say to you if you told him his band sucks? Meathead...
i've never said rush sucks. i hate geddy lee's voice, but i will always acknowledge the fact that they are some of the best musicians ever (seriously). i have aalways said that neil peart is one of my favorite drummers.
I believe that is exactly what I started out saying with Face to Face. Good musicians but hate the lyrics.

and kiddo before you go spouting off at the mouth, i've been into these bands for like FOREVER. i've seen the majority of these bands LIVE. lol so yeah, I KNOW punk. im not the girl that will throw on docs and THINK she knows punk cause she goes and hears a band here and there. lol
and YES i wasnt there IN THE BEGINNING but i've been around to see these bands start up AND grow. so yeah Im against most of the pop punk bands that're out there NOW. some i like cause they're fun
