why am i at work today? Staples didn't close our office. So annoying. My snowboard is at home, begging to be used.

englandkid Feb 22, 2008

I have the best job - my boss called ME and told me to go back to sleep!!

theremin Feb 24, 2008

My work was cancelled and they didn't call us, so I drove 104 miles for nothing, risking a car accident... what a 3 hour / half a tank of gas waste of time.

brotherman Feb 24, 2008

Usually company's have a hotline to call for weather.

theremin Feb 25, 2008

Plus, we went in on the day of the snowstorm previous to this, which was a worse one. So frustrating. Could've planned a fun Friday night instead of driving for no purpose.

brothermanOG 2004

I hope the 104 miles is roundtrip and not one way. Cuz I'd have to say you are crazy to drive that far then. haha...

theremin thereminOG 2002

Roundtrip and still crazy. But, you do what you kinda gotta do to earn a buck and a can of beans in this crazy world.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Very true. I drive 64 miles roundtrip and am very happy I only do it 3 days a week now.

theremin thereminOG 2002

If I were working full-time or apartments in my job area were cheaper, I'd move closer to it. Almost moved to Bensalem PA area where it's affordable and closer to work, but I shifted my plans.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Where do you live and where do you commute to?

theremin thereminOG 2002

Madchester NJ to Skillman NJ (Princeton vicinity)

B
brothermanOG 2004

Haha... I looked up Madchester and it is a type of Rock. Is that the codename for your real town? Cuz I've never heard of a town by that name.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

he means Manchester. a little, woodsy area near Toms River, Lakehurst, and Jackson.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I don't speak South Jersey. LOL!

theremin thereminOG 2002 brotherman

Redsweater doesn't need another regional Jersey discussion, does it? Look, there's 2 hours of Jersey below me, 2 hours of Jersey above me. I've always been from Central Jersey that's why I find it so strange and aggravating that anybody above The Amboys disses me for a Southerner (not saying they're the uncoo - just that I'm a Central boy - it's very cultural... at worse, I'm South Centralite, but nonetheless a Centralite)... not about to have a psuedo yuppie tell me otherwise at any time of the day. hahaha

This will probably spark another regional Jersey war, but oh well.. Had to respond.. couldn't let it go.

But in a more direct response to the comment.. it's not Jersey speak at all. I just say Madchester, 'cause my town is called Manchester, and Madchester was a music movement in Manchester England in the 80s/90s (Happy Mondays, New Order, Stone Roses, etc)... so your bit of internet research had the right reference in that regard. Kinda made me laugh you thought Madchester was the actual name of where I live in NJ. hahaha. Wasn't trying to be cryptic or anything... truly thought you'd figure it out.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 theremin

haha i got this rad geography lesson from lauren and dan on their last visit. still kinda confusing BUT i kinda get where things/people are. lol

don't listen to a word that guy says

B
brothermanOG 2004 theremin

Sorry... I had to wikipedia it to figure it out... I do not know music movement history, nor do I care to know.

Us Northerners consider everything below route 78 as South Jersey. We rule... you drool... :oP

theremin thereminOG 2002 brotherman

So in other words, Cranford, Elizabeth, Bayonne are South Jersey ...whatever, take the 1/4 of NJ you say is North Jersey and just declare it a brand new State. Where I'm from will always be Central... as well as anyone who lives in this region... Northerners will never legitimize that.. not the first time I've had a NJ regional debate with someone, so nothing new. I have Southern Jersey cousins... they even have different accents. Central Jersey exists not only geographically but culturewise as well. Ask a real South Jersey person if they consider me or anyone else in Ocean County to be a South Jersey person. Northerner's won't let us be Central, Southerners won't let us be South. Keep the Peace, Tear Down the Wall. This isn't Belfast.

Wow, I don't think I can respond to that. That was like a line out of a movie.

...and the award for most overacted soliloquy for something completely trivial goes to.......

hahaha

theremin thereminOG 2002

You know for a fact I'm in the suburb section and not the rural section

theremin thereminOG 2002

"Manchester Township is 82.5 square miles and is the third largest Township in central New Jersey's Ocean County."

Toms River = "Total 52.9 sq mi"

Little? South Jersey?

I think not
Rest my case
Goodnight

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 theremin

nice spin there. i was speaking of population. shut your yap. please. i beg you.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 fivezero

and i agree we're in central jersey. *shrug*
