I treated myself yesterday. I bought this massive awesome box collection that Rhino Records just released.. I heard about on it NPR a couple days ago. The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
Not only awesome tracks by awesome artists... also a very attractive Box set that I love holding and staring at & comes with an awesome looking booklet that I didn't get to read yet but have thumbed through and made me happy.
Like 78 songs across 4 Discs including artists:
The Smiths, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen, Spacemen 4, The Primitives, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Inspiral Carpets, The Sundays, Ride, Lush, Pale Saints, Manic Street Preachers, Suede, New Order, Blur, Saint Etienne, Stereolab, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, The La's, Super Furry Animals, The Divine Comedy, Catatonia, The Verve, Placebo, & many more.
If you can part with the money, and love post-punk Brit music from the last 15 years of the 20th century (* tho good in their own right, you won't find Keane & Coldplay on this piece), get it! (It'll set you back 50 - 65 dollars, but well worth it in my mind)
I bought it at the FYE store in Quaker Bridge Mall on my way to work but to give you a tip, you can get it on Amazon.com for about 14 bucks cheaper if you're interested.
