ok so we went to see Nicole Atkins at "Blend" in Ridgewood over the weekend. It's a swanky "rich people" over 25 place, that strangely has a nice bar downstairs and a stage. Sort of like an older, more mature, upscale Maxwell's (in Hoboken). It's very clean, and I highly recommend the drive to this place if any of your favorite bands are playing there in the near future. Plus, you can talk to the band quite easily after the show. We've seen Nightmare of You there also.
So Nicole played, and it was very good - my favorite part was when she did a cover of the Doors "The Crystal Ship", which is a really good song that I haven't heard in a long time. She did all her songs, and some rare stuff too. There were a lot of scary hippie type girls that were REALLY weird and VERY drunk, also.
After the show we waited around for a few minutes and Nicole came to the merch table. We were with Tina and Adam, and Adam and Lauren just ran up to Nicole and started babbling incessantly about life, music, her album, promotion, and everything in between. I was actually a little creeped out. Nicole was EXTREMELY taken aback but got more comfortable as they all continued talking. Once they were done, I told her we found out about the music from our friend Kamila, who goes by the name "Mashed Potatoes". She was very grateful for the promotion, and says "Thank you".
haha that is funny and great
