If ever I see someone using this... I'll dropkick them through a plate glass window. http://tinyurl.com/6z9z7r

I'm kidding. I want it.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

uh what was that phone number to buckingham again?

anyone have a 2-day assembly on November 1-2 by any chance?

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

if anyone would be interested in doing a supposedly free wine tasting tour in the West Village/TriBeCa area tomorrow (Sat.) 4 - 7pm, let me know

http://www.thrillist.com/send-image.html?entry_id=3782&img=3782popup.jpg

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

sorry Robbie, normally we would but we're going to Lake Mohonk for hiking tomorrow

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

I've been to Mohonk. It's absolutely stunning. Bring a camera.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

lol, "sorry robbie, but we're doing somthing slightly less gay than wine tasting."

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

ROFL dude. Normally I'd go b/c my wife likes those sorts of things, and we live close to the city but don't go in as often as we should.

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

To be "Alex" is gay.

Dude...you don't get it. I'm cooking this up to do well with the ladies. Women love wine tasting. So, I'm gonna give them what they love.

Maybe that's why you don't do so well in that department...'cause you won't don't anything cultural...you're too dead boring to do anything fun, interesting and different than going to the movies, renting a DVD and eating pizza or going bowling...so anything fun you call gay.

You're challenging my manhood, 'cause you obviously don't have it. You have only yourself to blame for not doing well with the femmes.

I made it open invitation...'cuz if all ladies only turned up, that'd probably make it look like I'm doing way too well with the ladies to be a straight man.

So, if you're too insecure about your manhood (what manhood??) to go wine tasting...just stay at home with your poxy video games & I'll have that much more a grand time.

What's so gay about wanting to hit it off with a woman? Hey?

And go to room with your Coors, Cheetos, and a Comic book

Yeh, that's right buddy

A
alexOG 2001 ·

You know what though, you would look really cool if only chicks showed up to your wine tasting, but that probably won't happen. What will probably happen, is no one will show up...cause you probably have no friends. Exept for maybe your internet friends on ezable.

i've been before, last year. this year i planned it, in true road trip style. htting up a denny's on the way for breakfast, and a local brewery after hiking. sounds fun right?

next time you guys are out here we'll do wine tasting in temecula OR we can go up to SF and hit up napa.

Yeah, definitely. I approve. Mohonk has pretty neat package deals now and then. Last year I did a nature hike & lunch. Great time, if a little bit pricey.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

Lauren and I would love to go ... how much are tickets?

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

I'll try to find out. I don't see that info on the website, but a contact email is provided.

Questions and comments about the festival:

email: info@bigapplefilmfestival.com

I'll most likely just go on the last day...Nov. 22nd, because it's a Saturday & the only weekend day of the festival.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yeah. that would probably be our plan too. Lauren's been asking about going to the Tribeca Film Festival for years, but this sounds like a good start

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

Yeh, TriBeCa Film Fest most likely tops the BAFF for sure, but that's not until April/May. I'm already planing to go too.

And bonus, I can get to Tribeca in just a ferry ride and walk.

Seems like these fests are ongoing in Tribeca... Already found 3 of them happening in just Oct/Nov alone.

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

Oh I might go to The Gotham Screen Fest as well for the Short Films screenings on the last two days (Nov. 1st & 2nd...$8.50 per program) http://www.gothamscreen.com/ but I don't think it's as big a deal as the Big Apple Film Fest.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

Depends on the movies.

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

Anyone assigned to the Stanley, November 9th?

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Not if you're going... LOL! JK

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

I'm annoyed that Terrence Howard pulled out of Iron Man 2.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

that's dumb, i thought he was supposed to be war machine

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

Terrence wanted too much money, so they booted him and put in Don Cheadle. I personally think they should have put Don Cheadle in to begin with... he'd have better chemistry with Robert Downey Jr. But Terrence Howard, being a medium black, looks more like the character. I'm not bummed for any reason other than the continuity. I dig Cheadle.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i hate when they replace characters and pretend its the same person. like they did with katie dumphead in batman

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

I hate it too. The Katie/Maggy swap was a failure. And it's not even the fact that she isn't attractive to most. She just. didn't. fit. They should have gotten Rachel McAdams, Michelle Monaghan, Clair Forlani, etc. etc. However, I like attempt to understand the director's decisions and I think I do...

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

oh man, rachel mcadams or clair forlani would have been great choices! You are def. on to something

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

My weekend ... was not fun. Great Adventure is totally not my place. My friends were all so excited to go ... as soon as we got into the park, they ran into Kingdeka (who knows how to spell that) and I slipped away, unnoticed. I headed over to find the smallest coaster I could, I figured I'd start small and work my way up.

I found the little train ... I dunno what it's called, but 3 year olds were having the time of their lives on it. I went on it, and hated it. I did not enjoy any of these feelings (mostly the dropping and the lack of control. And the feeling in the pit of my stomach). The rest of the day was long, and boring. We got there at 10:45, and left the park at 9. Seriously, nearly 12 hours of random friends seeing me and going "we went on nitro blah blah batman come on and then they DROP YOU LIKE AMAZINGLY FAST let's go!" and then i'd be like "could you please stop, I really hate these things". I might have angrily spoken to some of my friends, but come on, you know I didn't like them, let's all move on with our lives. Asking me about it over and over isn't going to make me realize I suddenly love them.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 informative ·

Epic Fail

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

apparently so

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i'm mostly kidding. roller coasters don't mean squat. haven't been to great adventure in ages. i used to get a season pass every year when i was a bit younger and now i just can't bring myself to care about the place.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i really don't like those places either. waiting in line for 2 hours for a 30 second ride. it would be worth it if i liked roller coasters more

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

I went yesterday, and it was one of those days where the longest line was 1h and 15 mins, the shortest line... I basically rode the ride, got off to let people waiting take my seat, and hopped back on to fill the train up. 5 mins, 2 rides. That was so fun. Overall, very short lines. I got on Kingda Ka in 45 mins MAX. It was great. We hit all the major rides more than once and that was taking the very front or very back seat EVERY time, except the time we got right back on from the exit side. It was so so fun.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

that there's the way to do it. go toward the end of the season. just ignore the halloween crap. y'know, the great adventure website should post estimated line times! that's not a bad idea. i could be talked into going if the lines aren't murder.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

how much weight do you think it is possible to put on in one month? i'm going to be eating everything in sight for the next thirty days and lifting as much and as heavy as i can, and i want to see how much weight i can put on. what do you guys think is in the realm of possibility.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

maybe 5 - 10 lbs. But you'd have to be working out like crazy, not doing cardio, and eating 6x day, NOT CRAP FOOD, but good stuff that's low in fat.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

im doing three protein shakes a day double scoops, and im gonna try and do four meals. mostly peanut butter and jelly, pasta, tuna fish, whatever is there pretty much.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i'll tell you right now that 4 isn't enough. and ease up on those carbs, especially after 6.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

yeah you're right. i think im just gonna try and eat like every hour or so.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

more like every 2 1/2 hours. Give your body a chance to digest

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i think you can do 10-15 pounds. you might not keep all of it but i'd say a solid 10. focus on your legs

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i say focus on chest, back, and shoulders. as attractive as muscular legs on skinny arms are, that's my vote. (MK I know you're going to disagree)

A
alexOG 2001 ·

i think focusing on mainly legs and back is the way to go. you definitely build muscle fastest in your legs.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i think it's key to hit upper and lower back. I'm personally not a fan of dead lifts, clean lifts or anything along those lines. I recommend pull-ups, seated rows, and using the machines to hit traps.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

i find dead lifts are the best exercise you can do. they are certainly one of the best for building mass. they get everything, legs, back shoulders, even abs and forearms.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

I've just been lifting a fork lately... If I get to the gym once a week now, that's pushing it.

A

i just want to be bigger. i've been 155-160 for so long now.

So my points on wall street are on a bear market but they have an index of -4.34% so the government will bail that and put it on top of a security with the same name as the money market. So I'm still doing well, I just have to get off the GM diet I hear their stocks went down terribly. But at least macs still suck so that's encouraging. For now, Mr. Dow Jones and me will build a parking lot.

a lot of people say "now's the time to buy". i say, only gamble with what you can afford to lose.

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

Like Warren Buffet. He can afford to loose everything (face it..if his company goes down, the Bill & Melinda Foundation just won't get the money they were promised...That's the only consequence...Warren's almost dead!)...so he's always buying. haha

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i'll find something else to do in the park, hopefully not involving the wiggles.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i've been reading up on how to get over my fear. i found this post online which had me snickering:

Many times, an inner ear sensation can be amplified by small head movements. Especially those away from the direction of travel. In other words, if you look to the left or right while riding. Additionally, looking up and down can affect your inner ear as well.

If you want to experience the effect, try this.

Sit in a rotating chair. Keep your head straight facing outward. Have a friend rotate the chair 5-6 times rapidly. Then stop the chair, stand up and then try to walk.

Now do the same experiment again. Only this time, instead of keeping your head facing outward, bend down and put it in your lap as they say. In other words, bend over so that you are looking down and your head is roughly parallel to the ground. Now spin the chair 5-6 rotations. After the chair stops, stand up with your head held normally. Now try to walk. Enjoy the ride...

Last but not least, do the same experiment again. Only this time, hold your head facing outward but slightly tilted to one side. Now spin the chair rapidly 5-6 times. After the chair stops, stand up with your head held normally. Now try to walk. Again, enjoy the ride...

If we were in an airplane/helicopter, we could really have some inner ear fun, also known as Vertigo. It can get so bad that you think you are upside down when you are right side up.

One thing is for sure, you can't trust your innner ear in all situations. Many times it gets completely faked out.

That's the end of the post. I gotta say, thinking you're upside down when you're right side up does kind of sound like fun, but not something i would actually do.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

In other words... you're a wimp.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

this is what brotherman did:

500/1000 = 1/2

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

Awww poor Dan.

But I've got to say that when you said the article had you snickering I was like oh no! Not the DHS (Dan Hill Snicker) it is a dangerous thing. The DHS is the kind of snicker that gets you laughing during the meetings. Don't lie Dan you TOTALLY laugh at people that trip up the stairs during the assembly only next time you'll be like "HA HIS INNER EAR TOTALLY FAKED HIM OUT!"

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

hrm ok. Thanks anyway dude. Great A..haven't been there in ages. Probably not in 5-8 years! Used to get the season pass and go allll the time.

Jahanna you're my hero in the kitchen you might know the answer...

I got the urge to grill the shrimp that I bought today.
At first I was going to just saute the shrimp for a scampi but, is there a way to get a grilled taste without having to fire up the grill???? Can you fake it by broiling it or will this leave the shrimp tough and dry?

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

SO I took 5-0's advice (dude's got MAAAD skills + secrets) and sauteed the shrimp quickly in just a bit of oil. With the shrimp I tossed pasta with olive oil, sauteed garlic, lemon juice and a twist of pepper.
I had Steamed broccoli on the side.

I've been working on a series of self portrait pieces following something that I'm dealing with. In any case this is the intro to the second in the series, it's called SHELL, the first was called INSOMNIA. I'd really appreciate some feedback on what I'm working with. I'm enjoying the moving along the spectrum between the hue, saturation, and contrast panels and combining different lighting to achieve certain effects. I took a lot of liberties rather than working varied camera angles I used a lot of rough cuts and almost no fades....so far.

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

I've started a study at work, just haven't had the first one yet. This guy who just started at our company came up to me and asked me if I was a witness, because he was dating a girl who's decided to take the truth seriously and he wanted to find out what it was all about.

Plus, he lives in my town (in our territory). We were going to start tonight but something came up for him, so we're shooting for next Wednesday. That's kind of interesting right?

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

very cool! Keep us posted!

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

That's great man. Not today but on the last day of September (I'll give the short version of the story) in 1 hour in a Staten Island park, I placed what usually takes me 4 months to do (magazine placement wise I'm talking about).

Just one more side experience to that.

One man...most likely a homeless man...I offered him the magazines and his face lit up with a smile immediately and a couple seconds later, I realize he's found a bench to sit on & he started reading the mag...he was reading it for at least 10 minutes before he got up (to go wherever he's gonna go)...and that's right off the bat. Tell me that's not awesome. (And he didn't ask me for money)

i know a girl who came into the truth like this. just recently. she got baptized three weeks ago. dating a df'ed brother, he decieded to break up with her and get serious and whatever explanation reason he gave her made her want to know more so she studied and is now our sister. such an awesome girl too.

Fresh meat, news, pop! It's like our respective edges have dulled. Whoever is still on here we're all pretty much locked into a routine:

the problem is that we're all old now, many of us are married. There's not that youthful stupidity, the flirting, or the drama anymore. We're all fat and old and just plain boring now. the only way to make this site like that again is to get rid of all of us and bring in some new blood

M. Night Shyamalan Contemplates UNBREAKABLE 2! http://tinyurl.com/48x436

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but Unbreakable was originally intended to be a trilogy.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

oh interesting. I knew it was intended to be a trilogy but didnt' make enough money. A lot of people hated that movie. I loved it. I love tortured sad bruce willis..

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i think if M. Night weren't such a skittish punk, he would have stuck with it and made the sequels. unbreakable didn't do well at the box office and he took it very personally. and the fact that it KILLED on dvd didn't sway him. he had already moved on. with today's big budget comic-book saturated film climate and the comparatively economical style Unbreakable calls for... he wouldn't have a tough time getting the sequels made. see now, if he would have made those sequels 7 years ago, like she should have, he would have set an impressive benchmark for comic book movies early in the genres popularity.

In any case, because this man extended his hand I likewise extended my own. What I most certainly was NOT expecting is for his mealy, crusty lipped, toothless mouthed man to kiss my hand, AND leave it moist.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

He sets himself up. I have an obligation to crack on him when he does that.

Hmmm... I think I'm fatter since I got married. Right now we're living with my parents. We'll probably have our own place by next month in Hackettstown. Working out the details for that. So I haven't really been watching my diet since we aren't always cooking the food. Basically anything in front of me gets eaten.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

Sweet! Then it's time for soul food heaven!

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

OUCH!!!

Hardest lesson JUST learned:

#1. Hardwood + wet feet DON'T MIX

#2 Don't run you'll get there eventually

I went running across my apartment to hop into the shower and pulled a muscle in my back... don't ask how, I have no clue. Also it now hurts when I inhale, SO retarded.

Anyhow I figured injured back PLUS hot water would sooth my back it made ZERO difference =(

Next I went running OUT of the shower to catch my cell which was ringing, didn't dry off and slipped all the way across the living room and crashed into my coffee table...EXCUSE ME for being enthusiastic!

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

LOL

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

oh, and feel better!

iwz iwz ·

aw you must be getting OLD

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

Thank BOTH of you for your "contributions". FYI my back still hurts *sour grapes face*

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

haha. I'm sorry, but your last line "EXCUSE ME FOR BEING ENTHUSIASTIC" is what got me cracking up. I apologize, otherwise. Just the visuals I got in my head from reading this were great, but then that last line was a clincher, and got me to bust out with laughter.

Obviously you didn't die, or you wouldn't be writing about it, so a little chuckling is okay, I think. When I see people get hurt, I do anything but laugh. But I feel that shortly after the incident it's okay to laugh if it looked funny.

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

So what you're really trying to say is that you have some uncanny ability to observe events without actually being present therefore...you were able to view the entire "inscident" as you call it, yet did absolutely nothing to help me. I get it, it's fine. Arms and legs went flailing, feet went into the air, and I was rendered absolutely HELPLESS as you chuckled to yourself????

I only have one thing to say...you're right. It was pretty funny =P
