So I just finished reading the "Marketplace Witnessing" article in the 9/15 Watchtower and it discussed my congregations experience of Mall Witnessing at Garden State Plaza. I thought it was pretty cool that I actually knew who said what in the article.

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

this is really cool! Faith follows the thing heard - Romans 10:17. When you read an article or hear an experience, and you were actually there, it gives you faith that the other experiences you read are real experiences given by actual brothers and sisters. It really touches the heart.

uh i don't think we got that one yet. i think we just got august. i could be wrong though

Its actually off of the jw.org download site. You can get the article there.

oh so you didn't READ it, haha.

i like audio podcasts, but i have a lot of trouble with the WT ones b/c I have such a short commute. If I stop paying attention for a minute on any other type of podcast, it's not a big deal. If i do it with a WT podcast, i have no idea what's going on for the rest of the article.

The Choice

It’s taking over; this is not the way she planned
Pigeonholing her whole life into a worthless one life stand
She wants to make the world fit into her hand.
When you give the skin right off your back, and everything you have inside
The only things that you have left are the things you have to hide

It’s the choice.
She heard them talking through the wall,
She knew she wasn’t crazy
Couldn’t let up when she thought she might fall,
She knew no one would be there to save her
She’s just another lonely soul who would rather hear you say something mean than nothing at all

They said they couldn’t understand the way she lived
They said it was just too hard to forget and to forgive

Look outside, everything’s gray
Tell her something to quell her fears
Look inside, it’s all empty
Hide her eyes, cover her ears
Time has become her enemy
And she’s held back by the shackles of society, she’s not what she wanted to be

And in four years no one really noticed her face
And in four more no one will remember her name

It’s the choice she couldn’t make because she didn’t know
It’s the choice
No one should ever have to live alone
It’s the choice
She believed them when they told her she was going home, closed her eyes gently and watched a senseless world fade away.

lauren and i are debating whether or not the field that was purchased with the 30 pieces of silver is the spot where judas killed himself.

i say no. lauren says yes.

iwz iwz ·

I say no, since it seems that the priests used the money that Judas threw into the temple to purchase the field. The field and Judas' suicide seem to be unrelated. Of course, the Bible doesn't name the field either way, so we can't say for sure.

yay yayOG 2004 ·

thanks

yay yayOG 2004 ·

if the bible ever became a movie... i'm sure they'd hook that up, lol. y'know, for dramatic effect.

iwz iwz ·

from Paradise Restored:
*** pm chap. 18 pp. 322-323 pars. 45-46 Consequences of Rejecting God’s Shepherd Ruler ***

“When it had become morning, all the chief priests and the older men of the people held a consultation against Jesus so as to put him to death. And, after binding him, they led him off and handed him over to Pilate the governor. Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing he had been condemned, felt remorse and turned the thirty silver pieces back to the chief priests and older men, saying: ‘I sinned when I betrayed righteous blood.’ They said: ‘What is that to us? You must see to that!’ So he threw the silver pieces into the temple and withdrew, and went off and hanged himself. But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said: ‘It is not lawful to drop them into the sacred treasury, because they are the price of blood.’ After consulting together, they bought with them the potter’s field to bury strangers. Therefore that field has been called ‘Field of Blood’ to this very day. Then what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying: ‘And they took the thirty silver pieces, the price upon the man that was priced, the one on whom some of the sons of Israel set a price, and they gave them for the potter’s field, according to what Jehovah had commanded me.’”—Matthew 27:1-10.

Because the money used by the priests in the purchase of the potter’s field had been provided by Judas Iscariot, the apostle Peter speaks of Judas as having bought the field for the burial of Jews who died while visiting in Jerusalem or of proselytes. Peter said to the Christian congregation regarding Judas: “This very man, therefore, purchased a field with the wages for unrighteousness, and pitching head foremost [after hanging himself up high] he noisily burst in his midst and his intestines were poured out. It also became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that that field was called in their language A‧kel′da‧ma, that is, Field of Blood.” (Acts 1:18, 19) The priests merely acted for Judas in taking the money out of the temple sanctuary where Judas had thrown the thirty silver shekels and conveyed it to the seller of the potter’s field. The priests saw the unfitness of dropping the “price of blood” into the temple treasury, but at the same time they thought themselves fit to serve in that temple in spite of their having caused that blood to be shed.

Even after reading this, I still can't tell. You could interpret it either way.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

to me ive always seen it as they called it because it was "blood" money...judas betrayal.

Busy weekend these past couple of days ... my brother in law Ben is getting married in two weeks, so we rented an SUV Friday night, went to the Yankees game, hit up Chelsea Piers and also saw Zohan ... I was tired by the end of the night. The scoreboard worked out AWESOME - they announced it over the loud speaker and put it on the scoreboard - our message of "Ben - pregnant is not a good reason to get married" was rejected by Yankee Stadium staff. Haters.

Saturday was a night of chillin in Piermont, which is an awesome waterfront town underneath the Tappan Zee Bridge (if you've never been, I highly recommend the drive up 9W with the scenic overlooks to Piermont).

Sunday was the Steve and Nick band playing at Cool Beans - a coffee house with an open mic in Oradell. They did 4 songs - Welcome to Paradise, Say it Ain't So, 99 Red Balloons, and On Mercury (from RHCP's "By the Way"). They played really well and Nick did the German part of 99 Red Balloons flawlessly. Nick also played the entire Super Mario Brothers theme song on his bass while Steve warmed up... just when I thought "wow, he knows the entire theme song, that was impressive" - Nick said "now - let's go underground!" and began to play the music when Mario goes down the pipes. It was hilarious.

i somewhat agree, yet i don't want to. You're telling me that a device that must be used on GSM has no updated equivalent for the rest of us that refuse to use AT&T/T-Mobile?

On another note, I just found out about Windows Sideshow for Windows Mobile 5/6 devices over bluetooth - available as a developer download. I can't wait to get home to set it up. If MS creates cool products like this, I'd be impressed enough to stay with their OS. My favorite feature is using your phone as a bluetooth remote for Powerpoint.

The iPod Touch wasn't launched until like 3 months after the iPhone came out. It was announced at a separate event. But, it may be different this time around since the iPod Touch is already available and updating both of them at the same time only makes sense.

Who knows, Steve Jobs is crazy.

i set up sideshow last night on my phone, used it as a powerpoint remote. Worked great, which is convienent because i have a presentation coming up next week that i can use it for.

iwz iwz ·

how does this work? you tap the screen to go to the next slide or something?

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yep. pretty much. although it can also link with your calendar, and do other outlook stuff too.

(yes i'm not sure of the advantages of that either)

Succasunna. Going to refinance my parents house with them and eventually try to buy them out. They can't afford it anymore. My dad is living off a disability retirement. My great-grandfather built the house, so they want to try to keep it in the family.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

Hey guys, i have a question, i've heard that if you upload songs to your ipod from one computer, and then want to upload from another computer, it deletes your first set of songs. Is this true??

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

well, no. not if you use "manually manage songs" instead of the "Automatic sync" function on your ipod.

i do not recommend doing this, to be honest. if you do choose to do it one time to get music, use Sharepod to take that music you took from your friend and put it onto your PC. then go back to automatic sync mode.

alternatively - why not just put the music on a flash drive until you get home? then just drag and drop to your itunes library.

They are both of our computers, one is the laptop, the other, our PC, and the laptop is where all my music is, and it's on the fritz. Rar.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

oh. i see. i can walk you through stuff like this over the phone. no problem.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

Thanks, i'd appreciate that! i'll give you a call.
