when I was little, I used to salt slugs and watch them die. Not among my proudest moments. Clearly I've changed because I just accidentally stepped on a preying mantis and I feel so bad. I don't think the little guy's gonna make it. :(

yeah i had heard that too...
turns out the mantis somehow got inside the house and two of our cats were "playing" with it. mom had put it outside, but it was already injured to the point that it couldn't move. after that, I stepped on it and sent it further down the road to death. some wild turkey is going to have a feast.
