Fun fact: The script for Benjamin Button was written 20+ years ago, but film technology at that time wasn't advanced enough for it to be pulled off. So, when screenwriter Eric Roth began adapting the Forrest Gump novel in 92, he saw many similarities between the characters and infused portions of the Benjamin Button script into the Forrest Gump script. I almost want to call that laziness. I don't know. Anyway, David Fincher comes along and says "We can make Ben Button now!" And he had Roth do massive rewrites to the Button script, making it what it is today. Even with the overhaul, many of the themes, plot points, and characters arcs are strangely similar. So, when people say that Button is kinda like Gump, that's because to any discerning film goer, IT IS!
