and what about if the hatch was part of the hydrogen bomb, and the computer sent teh whole island back in time 108 minutes to prevent the bomb from exploding! and when they didn't push the button, the hydrogen bomb exploded, and would have killed them all if desmond didn't push the fail/safe?
