Nope, Linda Ronstadt got her start in the late '60's with a band called the Stone Poneys. Their hit was "Different Drum" written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. She struck it out on her own and sang covers mostly... at least her big hits were covers (like "It's So Easy")
