I think I read way too much in high school. I've read just about every "classic", so I'm on to contemporary fiction, which pales in comparison. It seems like everything on the Times Bestseller List is crappy.
i agree. but there are a lot of good older books that really aren't love stories but have some of it in there. Alexander Dumas' works, tale of 2 cities, i forget what else. I just finished 1984 which kinda had love but was scary at the same time. shakespeare is good, but you probably read most of it, huh? by the way, Much Ado About Nothing is at Drew U. the end of the month-want to go?
I'm always up for Shakespeare theatre. I read 3 Musketeers, A Tale of 2 Cities and 1984 like 4 times (that's my favorite book of all time!) That's a little misleading, though, because it is kinda scary, but at the core, I think it's still a love story. Winston & Julia and how they want to be together but can't and end up...well, the way they end up (without ruining the book for everyone else). I like it because it creates a new world really vividly; the imagery is spectacular. A few times I looked up from the book and was surprised there wasn't a telescreen on my wall.
The book " Songs of Solomon" And " Ecclesiastes" are good reads and good Theater oppurtunities if you ask me.
haha-i was thinking the same thing after i read it-i felt like i was being watched. it DOES create a vivid new world, only it's very horrid. A Clockwork Orange is kinda like that too. It's good like Dean said, but more violent. good if you like disturbing alternate realities. Also, 3 Musketeers is only one book in a kind of series. If you liked it you'll like his others b/c they are along the same lines (Count of Monte Cristo was amazing and the movie was nothing like it).
I thought it would be just like the movie. I'll try that one too. I saw it on sale at B&N for $7. Cool! Let me know about the Shakespeare. You stood me up last time, twice and you'll see some tears...
yo i'll go to that much ado about nothing, i really enjoy shakespeare's comedies...
