its both. everyone in Krypton is accustomed to a weak and white sun (I think its a white dwarf, and they're normal when around their weak sun. that's why they all died when krypton was exploding. ...

i thought they all died because they didn't have time to get off the planet. didn't caleb (whatever superman's father's name was) warn the council, but was ignored?

if they all had superpowers on krypton, they could have just flown away. that was my point. that they didn't have superpowers when on krypton.
