Question for eZabel audience

So, I have been hearing conflicting news about Superman... Why does he have all of his abilities, is it because he is from Krypton or because he flew by the sun?!?!?! What is the REAL reason?

isn't it that the yellowsns rays give him power,i guess cuz he;s from crypton. and when he's under an orange sun he has half power and a red sun gives him no power.

its both. everyone in Krypton is accustomed to a weak and white sun (I think its a white dwarf, and they're normal when around their weak sun. that's why they all died when krypton was exploding. they couldn't just fly away, cause they didn't have the power.

but when anyone from krypton goes near a strong, yellow sun, their bodies get stronger cause they aren't used to all this extra energy. or something like that.

if they all had superpowers on krypton, they could have just flown away. that was my point. that they didn't have superpowers when on krypton.

i remember...in the doomsday one...where he died...he didn't come back to life right away because he was buried underground, and needed solar energy to heal...(also, he didn't come back right away because they needed to sell more comics)...

dan your all about the marketing of the movie. the only reason he didnt come back was because they needed the suspense. Superman is supposed to be suspensefull as well as the action

Krypton had a red sun and was larger than Earth.. so when he was rocketed here, he could fly, have super strength and invulnerablility because of Earth's lower gravity and the yellow sun gave him other powers as well....

mmmm... Ledgewood Mall has one. There used to be lots of them! Actually, there's one on the way to the Hall on Rt 46 in Budd Lake. On the right in the shopping center with the Krauzers...

Back in the '80s, I collected pretty much all DC titles, as well as Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man... I gave up comics after the Crisis on Infinite Earths and then they went up in price and the quality of the art and writing went downhill as the prices went up...

I still browse DC and some Marvel, but it ain't the same.

First off, I work for a grafic design company in manhatan called Fuel Digital inc. (fueldigitalinc.com) and its open 24 hours. so im on third shift for now
but just to add, superman is (Wack) only thing good about superman is lana lang, and smallville. honestly, nothing can stop him, there is no adventure in his comic book, he cant die, he cant get hurt, get real!
what makes a super hero super is longevity based on mortality!!!!!

its a little like the hulk. i saw the movie and it was kind of boring because when he was the hulk nothing could hurt him at all. bullets just bounced off him-it was aggrivating

Well, he DID die some years ago and came back... he's a lot weaker in current continuity, but when Superman was totally invincible, the fun was trying to see how writers would present him with challenges. The stories were a lot more creative years ago. You're right that there is not much adventure in his comics, but I think that's true for most of the industry these days, with full page panels and stuff

True.. Marvel has always been more "realistic"... Getting to Superman, years ago the challenge he had were pretty much he maybe trapped on a planet with a red sun, so how does he get off? Or he's in a kryptonite trap... how does he escape.. that sort of thing... Now, it's just enemies come around and it's a big fight or something... Batman and Superman used to be buddies, now they tolerate each other.. I miss my pre-crisis worlds of Earth One and Earth Two!!!

We have this wonderful old pioneer sister in our cong and if you mention Superman she goes into fits!!! Her point is why do people want to watch fictionalzed *super* heros that have the powers only Jesus had. Shes entitled to her view. She even thought My Greek Wedding was immoral.
I do love her so, tho. To each thier own.
