Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is a very good adaptation in my opinion. The characters are very true and all the major elements of the plot survive. I guess making it a five hour long movie helped a lot as well. I also think masterpiece theater does a good job of adapting books to movies.
i agree-that was one of the few movies i've seen that did such a good job sticking to the story.
yeah, that's a superb example. and great movie.
