i know it is tough. i was all like "yeah, lets compare" then drew a blank when i went to fill in names.

lets see....

jacques - robert duvall (jon voight is good. i also pictured him a little rotund for some reason)
sophie - julie bowen (was she a red head?)
robert - michael vartan? that hot? LOL, that's funny. I was thinking more Greg Kinnear
remy - the mascot for incredimail
teabing - a criples alfred hitchcock

and thanks for the link

finish the book yet? it's been a week... i did it in 3-4 days.. come onnnnnnnnnnn what did you think?

esprit15d esprit15dOG 2003

Oh, my bad. I finished it about an hour after you sent me the link. ok. I warn you, i have a tendency to over analyze, because, well, nevermind why. but i'll try not to.

  • on writing: typical mystery, bare bones, because its plot driven; no jane austen here
  • on plot/suspense: absolutely riveting. there were a couple times when i thought i was gonna go into cardiac arrest. at the risk of spoiling this for someone else, (1)when sophie found the key, (2)when they threw the bar of soap in the back of that truck (3)when they had to escape that psycho bank owner who almost killed them (4)anytime silas showed up(5)when sophie called the british equivalent to 911, and fachs answered and said that he made some mistakes and come down to the station AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST (6)when i found out who the teacher was...certain moments were just awesome - everything you want in a mystery.
  • on filler: a little unsettling. the author was very indifferent and academic in his approach to the symbolism, even some of the more traditionally "bad" ones, but hey, im a jw, it still rubbed me the wrong way.

    overall, a pretty good book.

  • ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

yea i focused on the suspense... that was great.. made me not want to put it down. the whole symbolism.. i found it interesting.. but didn't meditate on it much.. just what i needed to know to get me to move on in the book. good times.

    Good times indeed.
