Who on God's green earth told you that the LoTR movies have been right on?!? Fellowship followed the structure of the first book fairly well, but it skipped a lot of the details that make the books interesting. T2T, however, was an absolute travesty that ignored major plot points in the books and rearranged a large part of the story.
Yeah..but you got to think of how hard it is to cram all that amazing stuff into a movie. You can't show everything, some things just aren't transferable from written word to a movie. I am not a big fan of Two Towers movie, but it could have been a lot worse. As far as books being made into movies go, it's a lot better then some other ones.
Actually, now that I reread what I wrote, it comes of a bit stronger than I intended it. I just remember watching T2T and liking it, then going back to reread the books and being blown away by how much better they were than the movies.
Yeah, I'm re-reading the books right now, whenever I have a few minutes, and the differences are really striking. But, what I've seen from the next movies trailers..it looks like they included a lot of major things that I was afraid they were going to leave out.
I haven't seen any of the trailers yet. Do you know if they included the stuff about Saruman's destroying the Shire, and the hobbits return to clean it up? I thought that that part of Return of the King was at least as important as the rest since it really drove home the books' message about how war has an incredibly destructive influence on the Earth. Of course, considering that the movie-makers probably just want to have an action movie, they probably won't include that, but it's nice to dream.
Well, the thing is the director is a tolkien-lover. Seeing as how important the raising of the shire is I would hope that they include that. However, they didn't show any of that in the trailer. I'm hoping that means they don't think it's exciting enough or they don't want to ruin the ending because it's not totally expected. I really hope they include that because it really is key to the whole series, and it definetly makes me cry.
Ahhahahahahahaha
What are you laughing at?
