yodasucka Nov 17, 2003

how do u hate any thing about babies? i love babies... i want one... whos willing to help me achieve this? lol

juicymango Nov 17, 2003

I'm sorry and I don't mean to offend anyone, but I don't find anything cute about babies or children, nor do i ever want one.

yodasucka Nov 17, 2003

lol ok... i accept that

rocksupastar Nov 17, 2003

pssh, i LOVE kids!!! i seriously could have a MILLION of them.... well.. i just mean... as far as WANTS are concerned... i dont know about the ability part... But i LOOOOOVE kids.. sooo awesome

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

that's awesome! I have nothing against people that want kids or have kids hehe :) being a parent is a rough jobbie and I admire people who take on that responsibility. Children are a gift ... a gift that I just DO NOT WANT... kinda like getting a frog for christmas and you don't heart frogs.
I think people who dont' want kids are often misunderstood and stuff. Kinda like eminem

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

but don't ask me to babysit or hang out with your kids.. it won't be fun for ANYONE

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

lol, noo i agree with you... HAHA, imagine ME with kids, aww man, poor kids.. i would feel horrible for them, who would want ME as a dad.. THATS a scary thought. No, kids arent in my planned future either, but i DO love babysitting them after meetings and stuff. Specially this family in my hall, i kid around with both of the kids, one is like 4 and the other is like 2.. soo cute, i LOVE em!

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

yeah i hear ya. It's weird, I have not one maternal bone in my body. Babies make me cringe and I'm afraid to hold them. I guess this might change someday but.. i duno, I like not liking them. Haha

iwz iwz

haha you're sounding more and more like my wife. i see no kids in our future until the new system

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

haha, that's funny. I don't even know about the new system though. Maybe like a couple thousand years into it..if we're still allowed to have kids.. MAYBE. haha...

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

yea, katie is the same way... Nooooo babies for ME!!!

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

As much as I may despise the thought of having a child, however, I get REALLY mad when I hear or see any child being hurt, getting sick, or being neglected. It's a terrible world we live in, and children are paying the highest price of all. It's so sad :( ..... Ok sorry for the seriousness.

tinser tinserOG 2002

yeah, babies are 9 lb lumps that move

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

come on people, 20 or so odd years ago you were all babies. i dont understand people that say they dont like kids. umm, YOU were a kid, in some ways you still are

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

come on now. Everyone likes different things. Some people hate mangos and i love them, but that doesn't mean it's weird. I liked being a kid but I was a terror even tho my parents tried their best. And I liked being a terror... Haha.. anyways... to each his own right?

sugabluejennnie sugabluejennnieOG 2002

THats right.. And really some people shouldnt have children i believe we should give people a test to see if they can have children and if they fail they get snipped and tied and for the ladies in special cases burned.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

i agree. you should be allowed by the state to have children or not. if you're not fit, you shouldnt have the right. and there should be a limit. and we should all speak chinese.

sugabluejennnie sugabluejennnieOG 2002

I've already learned a sentence..
Im going to egg roll you down the stairs.

tinser tinserOG 2002

i've got no problem with kids...babies...they smell...they do not smell! Babies smell! Babies smell! You wanna have one of those things? Well, not that kid, but a breed of dr. grant might be intriguing.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003

i got the reference!

tinser tinserOG 2002

yay!!!

malibu malibuOG 2001

i saw this clip on a show that reminded me of you mike.

the husband got sent away to a reality show and his two kis just started behaving very well. then the wife is like, "i always thought it was me and tom against the two of them. now i see it was really the three of them against me. he was he instigator. when he isn't around look what happens, they go to bed ontime, they kiss me goodnite."

you will be so much like this and just foolin around with them and gangin up on katie.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

hahaha, yea that would be me. Actually i think that the kid would be MORE mature than me... telling me to take out the garbage and close the shower curtain and such, lol.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003

They're in my planned future. Finding out that a girl didn't want kids would be an immediate relationship ender for me. In fact, I would probably try to find that out even before we started dating, (or right at the start of dating), just so that it wouldn't go too far before I found that out.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I don't know if that's a good thing. A lot of girls just don't want kids in this system. Also, to women children pose a threat to any career they want so they may not want kids in their immediate future because then they get stuck at home and their husband gets to go off to work.

I've been listening in soc. class.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003

I know that, and the first point you brought up I can understand. The second I cannot. I do not understand Witnesses (male or female) who actually *want* a career outside the truth. The only reason I'm working towards a career outside the truth is so that I can support my future family as the Bible says I should. Now, if you were to change that to say that she might not want kids since it would prevent her from pioneering, then I can understand that. However, I still want kids and am not going to compromise on that position in any relationship.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

it's kinda hard to be a regular pioneer with a screaming infant in the car... for 8 hours a day... kinda hard! And it's hard to be able to afford daycare if only one mate works. And have you SEEN married couples with little kids trying to pay attention at the meetings? It's constantly "stop that" "don't do that" "sit still" "be quiet" ... UGH

Nothing against anyone who has kids... hat's off to you for takin on that job

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

And I think it's awesome that you're honest and open about it and you would tell the girl the truth. Some guys agree with the girl just so she hears what she wants to hear, and then years down the line they find out they actually differ in this HUGE part of life. And that kinda sucks! haha

D
dgiaimoOG 2003

I wasn't saying that she should be a regular pioneer if she were going to have kids. I was saying that I would understand if a girl didn't want to have kids so that she could pioneer. I wouldn't marry her, but I would understand.

Oh and, yeah, I have observed parents trying to control their kids at the meetings and elsewhere. Sometimes I think that I must be some sort of masochist for still wanting kids after seeing that, but I do, and I doubt anything's going to change that.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

dude..when people have babies..it's like...TAKE TURNS KEEPING THEM HOME! honestly! who wants to see your snot-nosed kid screaming during the meeting, then running around screaming after the meeting??

the parents spend all the time in the back...with the screaming kid..i don't understand. teach the kid how to be quiet at home on thurs. nights, THEN bring em to the KH when they're older.

T
toxicgirlOG 2003

I definitely don't agree with this. My little brother was one of those complaining cryers at the meeting. My parents used that as an additional excuse to miss meetings. Now my little brother is basically a kid raised out of the truth. That's really not cool Dan. Even Jesus said to his disciples let the children come to me. Even if the parents have to stand in the back, the kids learn the importance of meetings. Letting them stay home cuz they scream is a reward for bad behavior.

yea dan. you're so NOT a good father.

yo chill...my comment was half-sarcastic, half annoyed, because when i'm attendant, i ask people to take their kids out who are screaming, and sometimes they say "he'll be quiet in a minute", and then he's not!!

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

i dont agree with this either. it is quite possible to teach your children how to sit at the meeting. you need to meet the families in my congregation. their children set an example for some adults who can't sit still and keep their focus.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 forrestina

Maybe it's possible with some kids, but there are kids that are simply uncontrollable. I hate it when people without kids or people with obedient children start complaining about other people's children or manner of parenting. It really makes me physically ill. You have no idea what kind of hell those parents are going through trying to get their kids to obey, and criticizing them does no one any good.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 dgiaimo

well we just had the part on commendation last night so these comments are pretty upsetting to me.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 forrestina

I'm sorry if I upset you, but (a) those comments weren't directed at you per se but at people in general and (b) it's even more upsetting to me to hear people talk like they think they know how other people's kids should be raised.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 dgiaimo

ok all you people gotta chill with being upset. SHOW LOVE! HAVE TRISCUTS! that should be on a tee shirt

i love triscuts!

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 skaorsk8

You're right man. We gotta stop fighting and just meditate on Triscuts for a while.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 skaorsk8

haha..i love triscuts..i always need to get the reduced sodium ones though cuz the others are too salty.

it's okay. that was the point i was trying to redirect the convo towards by bringing up the part. each child, each parent, each family is different and who is anyone to judge. we should commend them for their efforts and try to help them bring up their children to love and respect Jehovah.

jay79 jay79OG 2001

Not that I agree with this, but I know what you mean. There's a child in my hall that's about 4 or 5 (old enough to know how to sit still), that throws THE WORST tantrums I have ever seen or heard in my life, but yet the parents refuse to spank him. Everyone else in the hall would like a few minutes alone with the kid to throw him against the wall a couple of times. But honestly it is VERY distracting when the child is stomping around in the back screaming bloody murder as if his limbs were being ripped off one by one, just because his crayon was taken away or because his sister had a toy that he wanted, and then parents do NOTHING about it, but walk him into the foyer so that he can scream some more there. BEAT THE KID!

Yeah..we have one of those. THe kid is almost 5 and acts like an infant and screams and cries. I want to punt that kid across the room. They also allow him to eat and draw on the chairs and everything too. I really dislike that kid.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 jay79

Do you *know* that the parents don't spank the kid, or that it would even help if they did? I remember being spanked quite a bit when I was a kid and it did nothing to prevent me from being the loudest, most obnoxious kid at the Kingdom Hall.

jay79 jay79OG 2001 dgiaimo

yes I KNOW that they don't (I would never make a comment like that without knowing for sure). I've talked to her before and she's like "I don't like the way it makes me feel to hit him, and I don't like the way it makes him feel". But when he starts up, she's all "come on honey, mommy's here, its okay" (which doesn't do crap to shut him up)

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 dgiaimo

Some kids, obviously the type of kid you were, need to be physically beat into submission. I believe in this beating of children whole-hearetdly and when I have my 100,000,000 asian children I shall beat them.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 thatdarngirl

I'm not saying that I don't believe in physical correction. I absolutely do. What I'm saying is that it *didn't* work with me. I was just as rude and obnoxious as before.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002 dgiaimo

maybe it was a personality defect then. or maybe your parents ddint train you well enough?

This is true. We were talking about this in Psych today. All about Freud and his wonderful theories, of which only some of it makes sense. Maybe you are lashing out at some neglect your parents showed you as an infant, like not picking you up when you cried. OR perhaps you were pushed to hard to use the poddy and you are angry still.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 ekulu

My whole point here is that sometimes it is *not* the parent's fault. My parents did the best they could with this horrible little brat that they had. It was *not* *their* *fault*.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 dgiaimo

Genetically it may be!

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 thatdarngirl

Okay, that I'll agree with.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

yo what's w/all this stuff they're finding now about how certain personality traits might be due to our genes?...brings up a BIG issue regarding accountability & whatnot....like, what if one person is directly inclined to do something that's wrong, meanwhile there's other people who are naturally inclined not to...should they both be judged by the same standard?

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ophelia

of course. just b/c they are more inclined to say kill people or something doesn't make it any better. everyone has control over their own actions and they have to fight inclinations they know are wrong.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 beachbum

yeah, i'm not saying serial killers & rapist & child molesters shouldn't be locked up or anything, lol, they should obviously have no contact w/society....twas just a passing whim

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ophelia

Well..in Psych we were saying how it's not exactly Personality that is in the genes, because environment can effect that BUT temperment is definetly there from birth. Like, if you're grouchy at 1..you're grouchy at 20.

tinser tinserOG 2002 thatdarngirl

but personality is partially in the genes...i'm a big fan of the 50/50 environment to genes ratio

I think that genes determine what you are inclined to be but that environment has a bigger effect on it.
