i hate *hair bands* from the 80s-90s like Motley Crue or Poison and the like.

yeah, but 80's metal definitely had it's talented end too....the whole hair band thing was basically metal for the masses, commercialized & glamed up, but bands like Metallica & Quensryche & Dream ...

for real. metallica and dream theater are some of the most talented musicians i've ever heard. and dream theater has amazing stamina with their 13+ min. songs.
