hostels don't sound too friendly. Hostels are a very cheap way of finding shelter. You stay in a one room house big enough to fit....ohhh....20 cots or so, and everyone else sleeps on the floor, ...

It's not supposed to be luxury...it's just a place to sleep that's safe and warm. Ever watch "Road Rules Europe"? They stayed in hostels. Some are pretty nice.
