it must have been before your time . . .
This thread was actually inspired by some comments in the "First Cars" thread, namely yodasucka's "michael knight? should i get that?" and toxicgirl's response, as seen above.
So, I know there are a few "old-heads" here - so what do you remember from growing up that you think some of the youngin's here might not know? I'll give you a few of mine:
I actually remember watching Knight Rider every week, and the Greatest American Hero . . .
I remember when I was in school and the Challenger exploded . . .
I remember when Transformers, Thundercats, Voltron, and G.I. Joe (though I didn't watch it) used to all come on after school . . .
I remember when there was no Turnersville assembly hall, and everybody from South Jersey went to Buckingham . . .
I actually remember going on Lightnin' Loops at Great Adventure . . .
I remember when the Chevy Lumina first came out (I believe it was a Super Bowl commercial that year)
I remember them BUILDING the Freehold Raceway Mall . . .
That's all I can think of right now . . . your turn!!

Page 2 of 2I remember Fresh Prince talking about how "Parents Just Don't Understand"
and the Live Forever book was the first book we would study with, before the Knowledge book existed
I remember studying the Survival and Prince of Peace books in the book study. Oh, and the Jehovah's Witnesses in the 20th century brochure.
I actually still have a camera that uses Flash CUBES
remember the disc cameras? I got one of those for jr high graduation - lol
and in school, the only computers we had were those Apple IIc's that you had to have the disk in before you turned it on
Oh, and when there were no such movie ratings as PG-13 or NC-17 - it was either G, PG, or R
or *x*. not alot of those in mainsteam cinemas.
I used to have Intellivision, and an Atari 2600, Atari 5200, AND a Commodore 64 - and I thought "Skate or Die!" was the best game EVER for it
I love the 2600. I bought a used one recently and I have around 100 games for it.
Whoa, I just got quoted-oh happy day!
I'm not old...but I remember:
Popples, rainbow brite, joey butafuoco and amy fischer, those cookies called giggles, inxs, when legos only made bright colors, when there were rodary phones, when the flipper was literally 4 inches thick, apple computers that only ran on dos and took big floppy disks, the mickey mouse club and kids incorporated, family ties
oh oh, when those samba shoes were popular...and keds, haha
I had a pair of K-Swiss, Adida's Samba, and Puma's...I was the queen of cool sneakers growing up.

Boys2Men, ABC, BBD, mmmm-hmm.
Garbage Pail Kids - I remember collecting them, and there was one with my name: "Meltin Milton" . . . how silly. funny how it took me so long to realize that they were stickers, but why?
I remember Messy Tessy, covered in snot and bugers. sooo gross. also the bad lil kid with the spiked diaper, the hand that was spankin' him was all bloody. i forget his name. how disturbing.
I think they re-released them, I was at vintage vinyl and they had a box, so I bought a few packs. They're not as funny as they used to be though.
Knight Rider never really interested me, i DEFINETELY remember those cartoons though. i remember Lightning Loops at GA. I remember diggin' ditches and doing gaurd duty at the Turnersville Assembly Hall site, and i OWN a Chevy Lumina. s'crazy!
anyone remember Bo Jackson's "Bo Knows" commercials? the Olympic dudes, "Dan and Dave" commercials? perhaps the video for the Faith No More song "Epic", ending with a piano solo and a fish flopping on the ground for like a minute and a half. Speaking of epic, the Guns and Roses music videos for November Rain, Don't Cry, and Estranged--and the story they told when seen in that order. Marvel Universe and X-men trading cards? the Jordan/Chicago Bulls craze with the caps and starter jackets? theres so much more.
i hated the bulls with a passion...the pippen/rodman/jordan days...i was hardcore knicks...and i had a starter
i remember the Bulls BEFORE Scottie Pippen arrived - Jordan couldn't do it alone - and I have a Bulls starter cap
