it must have been before your time . . .
This thread was actually inspired by some comments in the "First Cars" thread, namely yodasucka's "michael knight? should i get that?" and toxicgirl's response, as seen above.
So, I know there are a few "old-heads" here - so what do you remember from growing up that you think some of the youngin's here might not know? I'll give you a few of mine:
I actually remember watching Knight Rider every week, and the Greatest American Hero . . .
I remember when I was in school and the Challenger exploded . . .
I remember when Transformers, Thundercats, Voltron, and G.I. Joe (though I didn't watch it) used to all come on after school . . .
I remember when there was no Turnersville assembly hall, and everybody from South Jersey went to Buckingham . . .
I actually remember going on Lightnin' Loops at Great Adventure . . .
I remember when the Chevy Lumina first came out (I believe it was a Super Bowl commercial that year)
I remember them BUILDING the Freehold Raceway Mall . . .
That's all I can think of right now . . . your turn!!

I remember seeing Return of the Jedi and ET at the movie theater.
I remember when PEZ was a cultural phenominom.
I remember when it was fun to climb trees.
I remember when we paid for our food at assemblies.
Okay, no more thoughts, I'm exhausted.
ohhh man the chicken sandwiches and puddings!
the cheese danishes were key!
they were like bonus breakfastsseses for us since my mom made us egg-mc-muffins every day
umm actually lil sis...we got the egg sandwhiches at the convention back then like everyone else. mom making them did start until they stopped serving hot food.
*gasps* my world is falling apart!
OMG i remember the danishes!!! what about the burritos....
yea and was it me or was the orange juice ALWAYS a little frozen... o man those were the days
yeah it always was.....and the tickets you had to give....good ol days
yeah, and the roast beef sandwiches...and the pasta salad...i always thought that was healthy...man, was i wrong
what about the pudding.....lol
the chocolate pudding rocked!!!
yeah it sure did. I wasn't to fond of the vanilla though.
yeah, they were...i never got them, even if chocolate was gone
really? they had them tightly wrapped with a packet of cream cheese and strawberry jelly.....
i really liked it when you'd get a partially frozen pudding or orange juice, it was simple pleasure that made the second half of the day so much better.
Yeah the fozen oj was the best. You had it made if you got a hold of a frozen one. Man those were the days.
I remember watching the Dukes of Hazard, A-Team, Different Strokes, He-Man, Voltron, Webster, and The Incedible Hulk every week.
I remember watching the music video for Duran Durans "Wild Boys" when it first came out.
I remember when playing outside was a normal thing to do.
I remember jello at school was only a nickel.
I also remember watching the Challenger blow up on TV when I was in first grade.
I remember the drive in movie theater that was once where BJ's wholesale club is in Ledgewood, NJ and actually seeing movies at it.
I remember that before the Roxbury Mall was built that there used to be carnivals in the parking lot.
I remember when Cinema 10 in Succasunna was only 4 theaters.
Those last three places I am quite farmiliar with! Cinema 10 in Succasunna is like the seediest movie theater around but it's also the cheapest!
I totally wish there was still a Drive-In in Ledgewood..that'd be so much fun and better then driving out into the middle of no where~
Yeah by like 1985 they closed down the drive in. I used to love going there.
we played outside unless it was raining
yea man, mom would lock us outside... i'm sure that was wrong on many levels..
haha, that reminds me of the time i got mad at this girl who was staying at my house for the weekend and locked her outside. Ha, that was the BEST thing i ever did. She was such a brat and i finally took the situation into my own hands because nobody else would. NOTE: She got even more annoying once I finally let her back in.
haha omg that is hilarious
that is so stinken hilarious!!!
I did that one time, well, i told my mom i didn't want to play with my friend anymore and i cried until my mom called her mom to come pick her up because she didn't know how to play and couldn't do the dot to dot color books i had. LOL
I also remember when there weren't computers in libraries, and you had to look books up in this thing called the "Card Catalog". And all the books were organized by this thing called the "Dewey Decimal system", and they used to make you memorize what all the numbers meant because that was the only way you'd ever find a book. I'm so glad we have computers now . . . but then again, maybe it was better the old way . . .
awww man i loved card catalogs. do they still have one at your library?
well, i checked the library by my house, and there is no sign of a card catalog. to be fair though, that library was just finished a few years ago. I bet if i checked the old one, i might find the ol' card catalog in there . . . unless they just replaced it with more computers . . .
yea im wondering if they'll take it out of the one in my hometown because they are redoing the libary/townhall building
They have one at my school library still
I haven't stepped foot in a library in like 3 years, but last time I did I was confused. I knew how to use the card catalog but I didn't know how to use the setup they had. I felt all stupid.
ugh, that stupid thing....i refused to learn it
I remember offering the Watchtower and Awake magazines "for a contribution of 30 cents to cover the cost of printing" - now THAT is old school!
LOL I remember that!
I remember it being cheaper then that.
I remember being out in service with my brother and him doing that.
anyone remember "Romper Room?" They never did say my name, :(
What about Eureka's Castle?
Donkey Kong Cereal!?
yes, yes, and yes.
Remember the Magic Garden?
on eureka's castle...anyone remember that lil weird thing called Kooie? it would just go "koo, koo, koo" but that doofus dragon knew what he was saying.
Dude Eureka's Castle makes me feel old I remember when kids in my hall used to sit and watch that show and when my nephews used to watch it. Man I'm getting old. lol.
do you remember Pinwheel on Nick?
I do, but I thought it was corny cause I was older when it came out.
"pinwheel pinwheel spinning around . . . look at my pinwheel and see what I found . . . pinwheel pinwheel where have you been? hello how are you and may i come in . . ." and now you just reminded me of that show Today's Special with the mannequin that came alive with the hat
it's okay they never said mine either.
they said my name one time and i thought they could really see me and it FREAKED me out! lol after that i never ate or did anything in front of the TV
i watched Romper room...in 1962.
THen, with my kids in the 80s.
Remember when you could buy "Orbitz" the drink (it was a fruity drink with fluorescent tapioca in it!)
I remember also getting something like a fruit pie (not the brand with 2 small pies in the same package, the brand with the one large pie), but it wasn't fruit filled. Instead it was chocolate covered, and vanilla pudding filled pie. MMMMMM. Anybody remember that?!
I remember both. Orbitz was a big deal for like two seconds. And the fruit pies, OF COURSE! they used to have really entertaining fruit pie advertisements in comic books. spider man punching Doc Ock in the mouth and handing him a fruit pie.
Remember the pink song books?
i do...my how things have changed
Yeah but this was defenitly a good change. What guy other than Jesse here wants to carry around a pink song book.
LOL but they were so pretty....
Yeah my point exactly. :-P
I had a green bible too.
i remember when disneyland used little coupon tickets per ride instead of a set admission price. It was "carnival" like
i remember when they broadcasted the scopes monkey trial over the radio
remember when they used to have tokens for the parkway? and phone calls used ot cost $.25? and now they are $.35 right?
i remember when stamps used to be a lot less...i think 32 cents?
I remember when stamps were $.25 .
i was just thinking about that when i was scrounging for a dime.
I remember phone calls costing $.20, I remember when it went up to $.25
$.25 makes a lot of sense..just stick a quarter in. $.35 is really dumb..they should just make it $.50 and I'd appreciate it a lot more.
I'm glad you don't work for them to give them such crazy ideas!
anybody remember those old Wendy's "Where's the Beef?" commercials?
OMG i totally do!
Yeah I remember. It had that old lady in it that would open the burger and yell "Where's the Beef?" Those commercials were hysterical. I saw a thing on the greatest commercials and that was one of the ones they showed. They were so funny.
that was SO 80's! lol
Really? They came out in the 80'S? I guess that makes sense I remember seeing them when I was quite a bit younger.
New Coke. Some you probably don't remember this, but it's called Coke Classic today for a reason. Some time in the '80s they decided to change the formula of Cocacola. They called it New Coke and basically took the older version off the shelfs (if I'm not mistaken). Well New Coke didn't go over too well so they went back to the old formula which is why it's now called CocaCola Classic.
I also remember clear coke!!
remember when michael jacksons hair cuaght fire filming the pepsi commercial??
How could you forget that? He was still black back then! :)
that was clear pepsi.
yeah....i was addicted to that stuff! I must have been the only person in the country that liked it. Everytime we went to 7-11 out in service, i'd get that.
slap braclets, neon socks, my so called life...
Haha slap bracelets I remember kids started getting in trouble for having them at school. I don't quite remember why I just remember they did.
they were banned in my school cuz they were "dangerous" i still have 2! they are hanging on my wall in my room
They were baned im my school because kids would hit each other with them all the time and they could really hurt.
Oh yeah that's right I forgot about that.
More memories:
4th grade making xerox copies. But this was before the machines. I actually had to put an original document on this wheel thing and make sure there was ink in the thing and then keep turning the handle. Every full turn was one copy. And they'd be a little wet from the ink so you had to be careful not to get any on you.
Also, cleaning black board erasers with this machine that basically just dusted them all out for you.
I remember storing my house key in my Roo's. Sometimes I'd even put my lunch money in there.
I remember coming home and turning on the television to see a White Bronco driving down the high way with Police tailing it. Then you find out it's OJ.
I remember being scared when Reagan was no longer the president. All my life he was the president and I didn't understand the change.
I remember 1988 when the UN declared they were going to work towards Peace & Security and thinking the end was really here. Just a matter of time.
i was at a convention when that OJ nonsense was goning on. came back to the hotel to watch the b-ball game and i had to watch freakin' OJ! i was annoyed.
I'm almost embarassed mentioning this, but I remember the Josie & the Pussycats cartoon, and the cartoon "Jem" with that girl band the Misfits. Oh! and the GoBots
hahaha Gem! I used to love that show.
Reading Rainbow, with LeVar Burton - I learned so much from that show. "Butterfly in the sky . . ."
My favorite story from that show was this book "Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . ." - a great story, but i forget how it goes now
Man, now you got that song in my head. The reading rainbow....the reading rainbow....
BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.
name this tune:
"yo! its about that time
to bring forth the rhythm and the rhyme
ima get mine, so get yours
i wanna see sweat comin out your pores
on the house tip the sound im swingin is
strictly hip-hop, no i aint singin this
bringin this to the entire nation
black, white, red, brown, feel the vibration
come on come on! feel it feel it!
feel the vibration . . . "
MARKY MARK AND THE FUNKY BUNCH - good vibrations....LOL
What about "You Can't Do That On Television?"
I don't know. *slime*
Alright let's take a trip farther back...
I used to love Shanana (I think that's what it was called) I remember the guy would make a muscle and then move his fist back and forth and I thought he was sooo cool. :P Maybe that's where my desire to sing came from?
How about the Magic Garden or Romper Room?
How about fraggle rock I used to watch that show with my sisters all the time. We loved that show.
Fraggle Rock was the greatest.
"The trash heap has spoken NNNEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHH"
Remember Mr. Wizard? That was a cool show.
And we can't forget The Muppet Show, it came on week nights.
i got up early to watch mr. wizard everrrryday
quit ur lying- u never woke up early.. u always over slept- I woke up every morning at 5:00 am and watched Munters and Mr. Wizard while daddy made me hot chocolate
ew try i always watched mr. wizard, zoobalee zoo, and mousercized daily! dad read the paper and listened to 1010 wins
Zobalee Zoo! No one remembers that show. It was amazing.
Zoobalee zoo Zoobalee zoo, magic and wonder are waiting for you! i was just a touch to old for this stuff. my lil sister watched it tho.
I thought Zoobale Zoo was stupid, but I was also a little older when it came out. I guess it's like Power Rangers, corny.
Ben Varine was on Zoobale Zoo.
was mr wizard the same as capt jean luc picard from star trek? i dont think so but i remember them the same
i can't forget about some of my old Nickelodeon fav's from back in the day:
Kwicki Koala, Grape Ape, DangerMouse, Inspector Gadget, You Can't Do That On Television (imagine what that show would be like today! yikes!), and good ol' Double Dare
Wow, I forgot about Danger Mouse! Great show!
Remember that game show on MTV, I think Collin Quin hosted it. The three contestants sat in lazy boys and answered questions. When they lost they got pulled out. Remote Control! Remember that?
Oh yes I remember the days sitting around watching Nick Nick Nick Nickelodeon. Did that guy have a stuttering problem or what? :-P
what was the cartoon on nickelodeon with flying squirrels?
Bullwinkle?
nope it was like anime
Maybe you can find it on http://www.johnsrealmonline.com/classicnick/ . They have a list of a bunch of old nickelodeon shows.
wow okay i forgot a lot of those shows...it was one of the ones with the koala's maybe...
i DO remember Mya the Bee and David the Gnome!
Mya the Bee!! That was my favorite show in kindergarten.
"see her flyin' thru the air, buzzin' here and buzzin' there, saying catch me if you dare, wearing striped underwear!"
ROCKO!!!!!!!!!
I remember one of my favorite movies was "Real Genius" with Val Kilmer, and that Tears for Fears song at the end "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" when the guy's house was exploding with popcorn . . .
and who could forget Back to the Future . . . I think I actually saw that in the movies with my parents
Real Genius is still like one of my most favorit-est movies today.
"What's this?"
"This is ice. This is what happens to water when it gets too cold. This is Kent, this is what happens to people when they become to sexually frustrated"
look- smart kids on ice!
Mel..you made me so happy. I've never met anyone before who knew that movie. I've always had to make people watch it.
thats why we are the best ever
This is very true.
this is when i first fell in love with val kilmer!
He really is too cute in that movie. I love him in the Saint.
i loved him in the doors, he's a dead ringer 4 jim morrison
I liked him Willow! Mad Martigan!
Saint was awesome. And did you ever see that movie he was in, he played a blind guy that got some operation. He was able to see for a little bit and then lost his sight again. That was sad.
OOH, what is the name of that movie, it was with Mira Sorvino....
At First Sight!
www.movie.com always has the answers. :)
RIGHT ON! I was asking everyone around me and no one knew! LOL whew took a load off my mind....lol
Don't you hate that! When someone asks you something and you know you know it and it's on the tip of your tongue but you just can't think of it. It just tears you apart! lol
Who remembers Bobby McFerrin telling everybody "don't worry, be happy"?
I think the question is who doesn't.
I remember Robin Williams was in the video.
And thanks for sticking that song in my head now. ;)
i remember when Bryan used to eat deodorant and think it was ice cream... ah the good old days
Captian Bucky O'Hare, Exo Squad, Biker Mice From Mars.
I remember when Z-100 was actually cool - playing new bands like smashing pumpkins and sponge(16 candles down the drain...the DRRRRRAAAIINNN)
When the whole week revolved around saturday morning cartoons
Then comes a change
And the whole week revolves around TGIF - which was actually funny
I remember that, Z-100 sucks now. I saw sponge at Birch Hill, good show, but they were tossing something (drugs? I don't know) into the audience, that was weird. They were good though.
TGIF was cool, I had a crush on DJ. :)
step by step?........
oooh, baby - oh you weren't singing the song.
Nah, she was on Full House, Kirk Cameron's (from Growing Pains)little sister.
ugh, z100 is the only radio station my car gets well now because the antena got cracked...soo annoying.
man, remember garfield and friends? and what else...wow, i can't even remember what else saturday morning cartoons consisted of, that's sad.
Pac Man
Super Friends
Spider Man
Hanna-Barbara
wow, I'm drawing blanks too.
did they used to play peanuts too? or is that my imagination?
I can't remember, but I don't think so.
Garfield was grEAT!...Remember hecliff? Horrible excuse for a Garfield spinoff...I also watched X-Men..and..hmm..GALAXY HIGH!!!..now THAT is old school?..d'you remember that?..it was a cartoon about alien highschool students & their intergallactic antics...that is SOOOO old, like 1988 old
You want to talk old, do you remember Land of the Lost? That used to be on Saturday mornings. What about Dr. Who?
oh yeah...i remember heathcliff...oh, and then i remember darkwing duck and captain planet, and, umm...rescue rangers, and the one with baloo, what was that called again? he was a pilot and had the sea duck!
DUCK TAILS!!!!!!WOO HOOO
I think it was called Talespin.
Tailspin is right. I used to watch that stuff every day after school.
then what was duck tails
That was the one with uncle scrooge and huey, dewey, and louie, and a bunch of other characters I can't remember.
Yup, and the mom with the thief kids.
oh yeah! spin it, lets begin it...blah blah blah...i have the music in my head now
hey, anybody else remember the more girly cartoons that were more 80's style...like rainbow brite, my little pony, popples, care bears...all that good stuff
ha my sister has those on dvd...rainbow brite reruns are coming back to tv
NO WAy!!!!!!!! Tell me more! Tell me more asap! I need to hear this!
so My Little Ponies, Rainbow Brite, and some Care Bears are out of production thus making them available for copying. this woman copied some of them on dvd and summer bought them. highly enjoyable. =) rather disturbing that she put in the dvd's for me when i was sick and mopey and i started singing the themesongs and i remembered the episodes.
nice! what about the rainbow brite coming back to tv for reruns?
haha i dont know you'd have to ask summer
I remember changing melody's diapers & making fun of her inability to grow hair until she was 6
oh yeah i remember story hour with you!
HEY! THAT WAS NOT COOL! u never changed my diapers and no fair about the hair jokes!
he says he changed mine to...disregard him.
liar, mel was born potty trained
hahha SO true!
it's been almost 10 years since Alanis Morissette came out with "You Oughta Know", and I remember that they didn't know what genre to categorize her under so they called her "alternative". And I remember askeing myself, who are "they", and an alternative to what?
And I also remember her making "Isn't it ironic, don't ya think?" a household phrase
man, i think that might have been my first cd...we didn't get a cd player until much later then everybody else
YOu're kidding? has it been 10 years?
Yup, cause I was 18 when it came out. Jagged Little Pill, great album, good times, well bad times, but what's the difference.
serious, I loved her when she came out! WOW i hadn't realized 10 years had passed!
Tell me about it, my high school reunion is coming up.
i'm 30, I jsut had mine a few years ago. I had a blast though! R U going to yours?
I doubt it, I didn't really know too many in my grade. I transfered to the school in 10th grade and I mainly hung out with ex-wife and her class mates, they were 2 years behind me.
I remember there was this Cross Colours shirt that said "LOVE SEE NO COLOUR" - I've tried to live my life by those words. Perhaps I should have chosen better words . . .
HAHAH!! I used to have a really bright blue Cross Color jacket that I thought was AWESOME, because TONS of kids in my school wore Cross Color. Now, maybe I should have thought a little harder about that trend.
I wore Z Cavarricci's, Guess, and BUM Equipment
Not to mention Zwan shirts. :P
No no, that was then Zwan is now!
Zwan is not now. Zwan is gone. Billy Corgan's going solo. Didja hear the SPUN movie soundtrack? it's some of his solo work. s'good.
Yeah, I know about Zwan, they make fun of me cause I have this ultra gay blue Zwan shirt with a rainbow on it. I only wear it around the house, I needed to get some Zwan shirt.
I'm a huge Corgan fan, I've never heard of the movie SPUN to have heard of the soundtrack, when did it come out? I think he's a musical genius.
he IS a genius. i agree. SPUN came out a year or two ago. the movie is...rough. but the sndtrck is good.
As rough as Lost Highway? That was a rough movie, but great soundtrack. Corgan was on that too.
oh man... that was back in the DAY when you used to hang out at my house with my bro & jeremy...and they used to torment you! hahaha
HAHAHAHAHA not funny. :P
Good times...
i remember my old Pearl Jam shirt. "9 out of 10 kids prefer crayons to guns."
I also remember Skidz and Hypercolor....THAT cracks me up.
i remember in sports:
scott norwood missing the potential winning field goal in superbowl 25, giving the giants the victory
when the knicks were actually good with ewing... yet still getting beat by the bulls every year.
charles smith missing 27 straight point blank layups to lose in the playoffs.
the ewing missed fingerroll
getting beat by the rockets game seven
john starks going 2 for 18
finding alonzo's rookie card in a pack
stealing a bunch of football cards and getting jerry rice, steve young, bruce smith, and randall cunningham rookie cards...
when barry was THE MAN
i had a bad influences as a lil kid! the first two movies i saw in the theater was Rambo and Gremlins!
I remember the Bears winning the Super Bowl in '85, the Fridge Perry.
The Super Bowl Shuffle with Icky Woods (or was it Waters?)
The Mets winning the world series in '86. I can remember sitting in front of the TV getting chills to see a home team win (and I hate the Mets).
I remember standing in line outside the old Menlo Park Movie Theter (where Macoroni Grill now stands) to see Rocky III.
I too remember sitting in class watching the shuttle explode.
I remember when skateboards were really wide.
I can remember seeing Tron in the movies then running out with my friends like we were on those bikes.
My first cabbage patch doll, when they first came out. *hides from that comment*
I remember being at Yankee Stadium and they encouraged the young ones (well the older young ones) to come sit down closer to the platform. And they had the part on new Young People Ask: Answers that work book. And the first page had a special message from the society.
I remember seeing ET at the Metuchen Theater (on main street).
When Slip -n- Slide first came out.
Gas costing $.69 per gallon.
how old are you???
i was...not old enough to sit down in the front at yankee stadium when they released the YPA book. i think you had to be 13 and i was 12 (?). i was REALLLY upset. and my parents wouldn't let me go anyway - they were like "no- you have to be 13".
Yeah, I was totally bummed out to see my friends who were older than I was sit in the special section. I was only 1 or 2 years too young. Some parents let their kids go even if they were too young and it was so painfully unfair. I wanted to sit away from my parents so bad. I miss Veterans Stadium.
Turned 28 this past Monday. Getting old sucks. :(
I also remember Bosom Buddies (Tom Hanks would dress in drag, pretty funny)
Really? I remember being old enough. And I'm only a few months older than you.
i remember when slip and slide first came out...i was never allowed to get it though....go figure
A neighbor of mine had a slip and slide and we were in their yard playing on it and I went down it. Well the neighbors kid didn't wait for me to get all the way down and went on after me and slammed right into me before I could get up. I'm not sure how it happened but some how I got flipped up in the air. I had gone down on my stomach and ended up on my back. I think that was the first and last time I went down a slip and slide.
Yeah, that's where it all started. After that you were like "who needs water and rubber, I'll just dive over those boards onto the hard pavement!"
That's what I used to do for fun and still do from time to time escpecially when I play hockey.
I'll give you two years, then you're going to be crying about your back pains....if you're not in pain already.
Nope still no backpains whatso ever. Dude I worked for Fedex for 2 years loading trucks and I've never had back pains. Other problems yes back problems no. I'm a rare breed anymore.
You're fortunate, my back is so screwed up. I'm going to the chiropractor twice a week now.
That stinks. It's scary but it seems like half the people I know my age have back problems. Actually it's probably more than half.
i got 10 stitches in my knee from a slip and slide. apparentyly they were a menace to society
Yeah they sure were. Do they even still make them?
You bet they do!
OMG I remember that too! It was when we used to have our DC's at Dodger Stadium! That was SO fun but kinda embarrassing, but we were all together, all our friends
i remember when i had a memory.
remember when "vogue" was the koolest song? me and all the girls in my class during lunch time would sit next to this one girl portable pink tape player and listen to the song. that was the koolest day EVER in 2nd grade! haha
i remember back in 6th grade they did this "no watching tv for a week" and you got a certificate at the end...and i think a pizza party... i was so excited i really did it. we even went to a friends house for super bowl sunday, and i didnt watch at all!!! i was SO proud! haha
I just found my 7th grade ('89-'90) poor man's version of a yearbook. Here are some excerpts:
"Party hard!"
"I'm just chillin' like ice cream."
"C Ya round like a donut."
"I'm out of here like last year!"
"I've gotta go like snow in the summer! Ho!"
and all of them start the exact same way:
"What's up? Nothing much here."
i remember some girl said "you're a pretty big pervert, but i've seen bigger" i had no idea what she was talkin' about. i've been VERY tempted to prank some of the phone numbers i got.
I remember when it was still cool to put ribbons in your hair-the ones that looked like yarn on steriods.
The ponytail on one side of your head.
Heads-up 7-up was a way fun game.
You didn't get to choose what color background your school picture was.
Book IT! Read so many books a month, you get a big pin that you put stars on for every month you reach the goal. The ultimate prize was a Pizza Hut pan pizza.
i remember in my school, they had one choice for a background other then the regular blue...it was lasers, and i always wanted to get it, but my parents wouldn't let me, because they said it was too distracting
I think I was in fifth grade when they offered the jazzed up laser background. (I remember they had stars too)
i don't really remember the grades...the only memories i have from elementary school are: 1) Field day where we all got to play outside 2) The kids in gym class got shot by bebe guns 3) I got stung by a bee and found out i was allergic 4) Somebody sat on a cactus, haha 4) The teacher told me that i should stick up for myself, and it made me mad, because i was being nice, and she yelled at me ,....yeah, thats elementary school in a nutshell
bebe guns in elementary school? did you go to school in the hood?
hahaha...sure sounds like it...it was actually some teenagers who would hide in the bushes and shoot at the kids when they came outside for kicks
these kids sound like the future drug dealers of america...standing outside the school with their fancy 10-speeds, dealing pixie stix to lil kids where bound to form an addiction.
I remember the bestest gym game ever . . . bombardment - if u don't know, u better axe somebody!
i totally agree. not too many actually called it that, but i had some burned out ex-military gym teacher, mr. jump. we played maddd bombardment.
yea we used to play that too! i hated it cuz i would always get out but i can't catch so i was stuck in the jail the whole game...
i was never allowed to get the cool backgrounds.. i always had to get the plain blue.. but they had the lazer one and also this one that was like books... like library shelves... haha i wasn't allowed to get it tho...
i got a wicker chair once.
ME TOO! why didnt my mom EVER let me get the lasers! i always wanted them! hahaha one year i had to get a fall scene behind me... so gay.
i remember Book-It. i only did it once, i think. i got my free pizza and was happy.
oh man also silent ball (that's so not what we called it what was it...)
Oh man, that totally reminded me when I first got my hands on Pogo Ball! What a stupid invention that was, but I fell for it. I had to have my Pogo Ball!
o man... wall ball... and spud... and dodge ball... and nucum... i used to LOVE gym class haha
When you played wall ball did you play with a tennis ball and whoever losed at to do butts up?
Wall Ball was the best! We played with either a tennis ball or a racquet ball. In Vo-Tech we'd play at lunch just about every day, unless we were playing hacky sack with a koosh ball.
Butts up! That was the greatest! I think I still have welts on my legs. hehe
Eddie used to make Andres do everytime we played behind Andres' moms house. Good times.
i definitely loved wall ball. we played a lot all thru-out school. i hated gettin' beaned.
LOL, we should get a decent sized group and go play. I'm sure we can find a decent wall. But how bad did it suck when someone threw the ball on the roof!
we should. i'd be down. roofers weren't allowed to play the next day.
haha, oh yeah...butts up! hahah

The farthest back I can rememeber was listening to songs like 'Abra cadabra I want to reach out and grab ya' and 'puttin on the ritz'. But I didn't buy music it was just what I heard on the radio.
Pop as in yes, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, and that guy who sang 'never gonna give you up, never gonna make you cry, never gonna tell a lie, and hurt you' forget his name.
The first LP (yes, record) I ever had as my own was Thriller.
