Touching Chicken
So I cooked dinner last night, which was good because I really should know how to cook by now. However, the recipe involved cutting chicken up..HORRIBLE! I refuse to touch chicken, or any other raw meat..it's just gee-ross. I used a huge fork and knife to cut the chicken just so I wouldn't have to touch it! Afterwards I cleaned everything with lots of lysol spray (including my hands). So..does anyone have any really easy recipes that someone like me can handle? I made a very easy stir-fry..I think I can handle something on that level, or maybe even a little harder if the directions are very clear.

i hate touching any raw meat. Except ground beef I like it for some reason, i mush it up in my (clean and debacterialized) hands sometimes right before cooking.
TACOS! THey're the easiest and NO MESS! unless you get everything pre-pkg'd and go from there.
Dan Hill is gonna ask you out on a date any minute.
i know. That was a dangerous thing for her to say
both of you shut it. i didn't hear you complaining when i offered to pay
OH WOW YOU GOT HOSED!
are tacos your fav? the best tacos you can eat are either homemade or go to the ghetto-ist of ghetto taco stands and OMG you'll be addicted
No mess? I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how you're supposed to eat a taco with getting stuff all over the place. Or maybe you're just talking about preparation...
tips from the latin girl: pinch the taco from the top when your going to take a bite and jsut don't devour, take a nice slow bite and savor each and every morsel
socalgirl, i believe it's time you posted a picture.
hmmm, can we post it jsut for the day?
sure. post it then delete it.
lol, dan, you are amazing... AMAZING!
i know. i know. it's good to beat katie in UNO, might I add.
i used to have a math teacher named Mrs. Kluck.
i had these two substitute teachers consecutively: Mr. Canon and Mrs. Gunn. neat, eh?
oh yeah? well i had 2 teachers named Mrs. General and Mrs. Specific! beat that!
i wasn't competing, lol. but that IS unbeatable.
lol actually i lied O:) don't hurt me!!
no lynz's story about mrs. horsey and what the boy did to her is the absolute best!!
Oh man..that IS a good story. We had this lady substitute and her name was Miss Horsey. So one time in Math class this kid just walked right up to her, like to ask to go to the bathroom, and just neighed in her face.
She later was fired as a sub because when there was a fire she went through the halls screaming "this is the real thing..get out get out!" when we weren't supposed to know that so we'd keep calm.
Chicken lasagna... Sooo good. (even if I spelled it wrong)
lasagna noodles
2 or 3 or 4 chicken breasts, cooked n chopped up.
2 jars of Paul Newman tomato sauce of some variety.
tub of ricotta cheese and a tub of fetta cheese.
one slightly beaten egg.
some parsley.
and about a pound of shredded mozerella cheese.
stir together the chopped cooked chicken with the tomato sauce.
in another bowl mix the ricotta, fetta, egg and parsley.
add half the moz cheese to it.
layer cooked lasagna noodles (they actually have the kind you don't have to precook, which is cool.) then tomato/chicken then the cheese mix then some shredded moz then noodles... you get the layering picture.
top off with mozz just before you take it out of the oven so it's all melty n gooey... bake at like 375 or 350... ask your dad I forgot. for 45 mintues, covered with foil till you put that last bit o cheese on top. mmmm cheeeeeeeeese.... :D
Ack. No. Jarred tomato sauce in lasagna?
come on if you can make that you can make a fresh sauce.
Exactly. It's really not that difficult, and it's so much better than the jarred stuff.
Actually, I've found that even if the package directions don't explicitly state that you don't have to cook the noodles, you still don't have to.
Um, I don't think you're supposed to clean off things that you'll touch to food with Lysol. Any dish detergent that is antibacterial will do. Think aoubt the fact that when you spray Lysol, if your mouth is open, the chemicals hurt your tongue. Be careful not to overdo it.
but you wouldn't want to underdo it either, you must strike a balence..this comes, with experience....pretty soon you'll be a chicken-touching professional
i used to have that problem. i used to not touch raw meat or anything like that. eggs either--i couldn't even beat my own eggs for scrambled eggs! i used to get my sis or mom to do it. now i like getting in the mix. s'fun. if you're to get married you'll have to suck it up a bit tho. you're going to be doing "gross" things all the time. i mean cooking, folks.
oh man.. cutting is the fun part. i love getting my hands dirty and grimy into the cookie. thats what it's all about... like making meatballs with your hands.. just rolling them up and juggling them.
The worst is cutting off the nasty looking skin on chicken. If you don't mind spending the extra money you can get the nicely cleaned cutlets...sometimes you can get packages of meat that are already cubed (and de-fattied) for stew, kabobs, or stir fry. You'll still neet to cut the meat, but at least it requires little contact.
We had nice cleaned cutlets..they had the tiniest bit of fat on them that I had to cut off. Cubbing was pretty easy not touching it..but as Dgiamo mentioned above..doing something like meatballs is gonna be tricky.
yeah, seriously...i have nothing against gettin involved in them domestic affairs - I'll get my cook on if needed..but...some things, are just plain nasty..
bryan, i have to say...i think you're just scary in the kitchen. unless you are adding artistic flare and writing hidden messages in my cake icings.
listen!!!...maybe baking's not my thing!..but...when it's time to fry, word up, i'm all over it..and that cake only tasted good cause I had hand in it...literally
yea haha that cake was MAD good!!
it always is. (btw...bobby signed the contract and didn't eat it)
You might want to try making something like a stew. That should be fairly easy. If you weren't so averse to touching raw meat I'd suggest you try to make spaghetti and meatballs since that's fairly simple and fun. Are you just looking for dinners that you could make? Or other types of recipes as well?
Either or! I have off of school for a month and my mommy just got a job so I thought I could help her out a bit and maybe learn how to cook in the process.
and you didnt have to touch chicken for the stir fry?
No..I used the really big fork and knife to cut it up and move it around so I wouldn't have to touch it.
haha or just wear gloves
That's what my dad suggested (he was supervising me) but I could still feel it move then.
okay well just work quickly...i got nothin.
Oh..and here I was depending on you for some magical solution!!!
we'll have a private session
