Before they hit it big
What bands can you say you were fans of before they became popular? What bands do you know now that you think will sign with a major label soon?
I have been a big Midtown fan for a long time. I was the first witness that I know to have heard about them, quite a few years ago. Now they are signed by Columbia. Great band.
I had liked the Ataris for a while before they had signed with Columbia too, but not as long as I liked Midtown.
Also No Use For A Name...I haven't listened to them as long as a couple people I know, but I've liked them for a few years...and in my former high school, which seemed very up on the lesser known music scene, only two people I knew had heard of the band. And they haven't really gained any popularity since then, but they could if they had a record deal.
Bands who could make it big: Lucky Boys Confusion...they would be loved by a lot of people if they were known...but then people would label them "sell outs" and all that garbage, so I can't decide if it would be worth their popularity. Heck, I like the band, I wish them all the best.
I saw Autopilot Off a few years ago. I wouldn't call them popular now, but they'll be on the Taking Back Sunday/Thrice-like popularity level soon.
The Living End-an awesome band I got into about 4 years ago. Most people I know still have never heard of them till I tell em about this Aussie band, but I think they could achieve Strokes/White Stripes-like popularity.

i saw thrice like 2 or 3 years ago opening up for face to face and midtown (just around the time midtown started getting big)and thought that thrice was much better than both of them.
i saw alkaline trio in 1999 or 2000 also with face to face, they were great too. I also saw the ataris around the same time
also thanks to todd, i've been listening to NUFAN since 1999, they're my favorite band
I just want to say for Face to Face's sake that they stunk when they became a 3 piece, but their last show made everything okay again...simply amazing.
when we bought our packard bell computer ages ago it came with a free cd of music videos. weezers buddy holly video was on there and my family fell in love but we were too dumb to figure out there was a whole album out there somewhere. so it took us a few more years to rediscover them.

3-4 years ago, tacking back sunday, thrice, and coheed and cambria were all unknown to the masses..I was up all up on'm though...then came 9.23 GAY-Rock, who introduced their new albums as being their first albums, and refuses to play anything off of Tell All Your Friends, The Illusion of Safety, or Second Turbine Blade...
Yeah, same here with Coheed. I saw 'em on a regular basis as their first album was coming out. It went from 50 people to 500 in NO time.
