Hey iwz, really coo that you dig Aphex Twin, and also that Massive Attack song, Teardrop. Teardrop's become one of my favourite songs... and actually didn't discover the Massive Attack original one, first. I really like both versions as different as they both sound. I discovered the song first by Newton Faulkner ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton_Faulkner ) ...hear his version on my playlist ( http://www.playlist.com/user/12734233 ). I have both versions on my playlist. Anyway, after finding out his was a cover... I searched for the Massive Attack original... and was like... hey, wait a minute... minus the singing this is the beginning credits song for House, one of my fav shows! She has a beautiful voice. Anyway, check out the Newton Faulkner version on my playlist.
Just listened to it. Very good! I hadn't heard it. It's funny how sometimes you are only familiar with covers. Like I bet people out there really like Johnny Cash's Hurt, but have no idea.
Good stuff on your playlist. We like a lot of similar music.
Yeh, when I heard the Newton Faulkner one (I listen to a lot of Virgin Radio UK), I had noooooo idea he was covering the theme song for House, MD! hahaha 'Cause you don't get to hear the lyrics on House.
And thanks for that, because I have a feeling that my music taste is generally perceived as everything leftfield and unheard of, but that's not the case at all. I like whatever I find good sounding and/or meaniful. I don't different music for the sake of liking different music. I come off as pretentious, but if anyone saw the scope and range of my music collection (which doesn't and will never represent the whole of my musical taste, since my collection would be impossible to complete, as I constantly find new music that I like), they'd probably say, okay, he isn't pretentious afterall.
I haven't tried muxtape... but I just checked it out for the first time last night. Well, kinda... I didn't make my own, but I like playlist.com for it's easiness and quickness. Btw, tried that file2hd.com in the small hours today. Took awhile to find out how to make it work... but eventually got it & love it. For some reason the song will download initially as a index.php file and my OS will think it's supposed to open as a digital image or something, but rename it with .mp3 and it's a charm.
haha no way chromeo
thanks, chris! chromeo is awesome
awesome
sweet
I will upload it for you when I get home.
argh, i just went to listen to yours, but it looks like the site is broken at the moment.
I'll hafta to check this out. Is it similar to Playlist.com if you've seen that? Check out my 84 track various artist playlist that I've made --- http://www.playlist.com/user/12734233
can you upload a bunch of songs at once on playlist? i cant stand sitting there uploading one at a time, only got through like 4 on mux
With 'Playlist' you don't upload... it's like a mp3 search engine basically. You type a name of a song or an artist into its search and it crawls the web bringing back the potentials... very accurate actually. Usually it brings back multiple sources where the song is, depending on its popularity (like the more that have that song you're looking for hosted on their site... the more sources you have to choose from to get your song from)
You do have to pick one song by one song... except none of time is spent in uploading... since you're getting the mp3 from someone that already hosts it.
Your playlist is then turned into flash which you can embed anywhere where it's allowed. Your own website, a social networking site, what have you. Or you could simple just copy and paste your playlist URL to use the linking method as an alternative... which links to your personal playlist page.
www.playlist.com if you wanna try it.
can only 1 person listen at a time?
I don't think so. I've seen it just stop working until I restart Firefox tho.
yea your muxtape was very mellow.
awesome
listening now...
lol, i've never heard this Eels song. I've looked for it before too, because you said your name comes from this song. nice.
I LOVE that song by dj shadow and mos def - six days. I want it. Make me have it.
I also love that california song by phantom planet. That was Gina's song way back.
heck yes! doesnt that bring back memories of being in CA??
yah. california. ahhhhh.
I love the idea, i wish you could download them. that would probably be a no-no though, huh
you know what really annoys me? i pay for cable TV. I pay for cable internet. Yet if I forget to set up my VCR for a show, and download it later - this is illegal. But didn't I already pay for the privilege of watching it?
I know this isn't the right place for this post at all, i just felt like ranting.
JP.... make a mixtape...
yeah!
im working on it, takes a while to upload though.
yeah the upload time kinda stinks
btw, in case you didn't realize, you can click on the songs and listen to them.
