my first concert was they might be giants awsome band
rick astley...19-eighty-something
Beatles - yankee stadium
never happened, turkey!
HA !... thats what all you FAKE beatles fans think. but they played a secret show there..
Beach Boys- 1990 at Jones Beach
1996-No Doubt.
2nd was Third Eye Blind
i'm trying to increase my concert numbers each year..i'm up to about 1 a month. also, just because i'm pretty crazy w/ memories and stuff..i have in my journal written down every concert i've been to..the dates of them and who i went with..i'm really happy i have it though...cool stuff to remember.
thats is a GREAT idea, I can't hardly remember much of anything about the concerts I was at in the 70s, and I went to alot. being the Nassau Colisuem is within easy hitchhiking distance from my house.=X
ahhh, yes. hitchhiking! a nice, fun activity i don't do enough of!
we were all thinking the same thing...
that was the 70s when it wasnt AS dangerous as now.
i would NEVER recomend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah..my dad told me what he did the month after he graduated. He and a friend hitchhiked from where they lived (Ridgefield Park) down to Toms River where they stayed in the woods for two nights and hithhiked to Sea Side every day..yeah.
man, that must have been great. those were the days, eh?
do you know what year he graduated? I was 75.
wth? i thought u were 40-something
OMG u know what i mean! 1975, graduate h.s.-a minor miracle since i never went.
man, rereading this i saw the name robert plant. he was so hottt. unbelievable. i can't believe you got to see him.
unfortunatly WAS is the key word. he was so....ummmm....charismatic....it made u want to jump up on stage and.....*sing* with him, if u know what i mean. sorry folks, if I offend with my double entendres.
just remember--i didn't fall out of the truth because of this, you pushed me. *sobs*
he was so beautiful with the long hair. (i love guys with long hair) and the low rider jeans and stage presence. i love watching old concerts where they preformed. gorgeous.
yea I like the hair thing too, very very very much. still.
I had to get used to my husband with the ole JW cut it took some looooong time cause he had really long hair once. but he looks good.
(dont tell anyone, i REALLY like the mullett)
eeeww. that's just disgusting. mullets?? no not long hair like that.
i know what kinda hair u meant! i just like mulletts, sorry. i guess its an 80s thing.
But definately, if u can find a copy, rent *The Song Remains the SAme* which is an old old Led Zep concert movie.
Hey..my mullet was pretty cool.
no mullets are cool.
mine wasn't i'll post a picture tomorrow...
well girls in mulletts are not what I meant. but i would like to see the pic!
i tried but i can't get it to work...
i HATE when that happens....!i dunno how to post a pic on here cept in the profile place.
Aww..that's cute! I had mine last fall..
holy unkempt mullet!
for some strange reason she used to make me brush it...do not do this with curly hair
Well..it's just that my short hair grew out and i needed an undercut but I didnt get one right away.
Hey if like Plant you might trying to find stuff about his second band, The Honey Drippers. The were pretty good, they did alotta be-bop music, and he had a kind of MULLETT!! Hahahahahahha! just what u love!
The Wallflowers 1997 at Waterloo Village. My second was Warped Tour '98.
Jakob Dylan looks nothing like daddy thank goodness, but he sings like him lol.
no...his songs are waaaaaaay better. not that i've heard bob dylan, but i think they could be bad.
Boy Dylan is a rock and roll legend, trust me. He put poetry to music. Bobby D is not one of my favs as far as music goes, but he is a god to some. Ask ur parents or other older ones. The wosrt song that I've heard by him is Everybody must get Stoned" which was a party song. If ya wasnt to kno more bout him theres always the net...
I love that song!!! Everybody must get stoned..they'll stone you when you're walking down the street..they'll stone you when you feel soo allll alone!
(a BETTER song of his with the word stone)
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
try this link:
lol get that of the screen
lol bob dylan is one of the best ever songwirters, hes written songs for some many people and his sons songs are not even close. Hes writng hit songs hes never played once.
My kids first concert was.......HANSON!!!!
did you meet
awww, it's the lost brother, Casey Hanson--caught doing the robot and binging on cake. dang paparazzi..
That looks like that stupid Amanda Bynes Nickolodeon tycoon
very funny! i know everyone thought they were girls at first, but in a way they were good. and boy have they grown up! unfortuatly, the middle one, Taylor got his g/f prego and had to marry her. they are still touring too, very quietly I must add.
The Offspring at Irving Plaza, NYC. It was 1994 I think, right before Smash came out. OH wait I lied. That was the first REAL concert that I actually wanted to go to. I saw the Beach Boys at the PNC Bank Arts Center when it was called the Garden State Arts Center. I went with my mom. She loves them. It was a neato time actually. They are all in their 120's and still rockin.
hahah more like late 5os and early 60s hehehehe....saw them in 75!
philly
AFI. May 16th i believe.
My daughter Rae LOVES AFI but personally i think they are abit too metal for me.
They're not metal though.
that;s what i was thinking but what else would you classify them as?
Well..they were originally punk-rock if you look at their first album. They've slowly changed into what some label as "goth rock" but since no one really knows what that is they're just their own little AFI-brand of music..but Jade (the bassist) says they're pretty much still punk-rock at heart.
wow am i the lamest person here or what? my first concert was sting, july 1996. how embarrassing. i wish it would've been rush
Sting is great. Ur not lame!!!
haha thanks, i feel better now ;)
My daughter Ra keeps getting him and phil collins whom i love dearly, mixed up.
you seem to have mistaken your daughter for the local New Jersey pagan sun-god!
LOL short for Rachel! good one!
ummm dixie chicks. two weeks ago.
like the Chix? arent they awesome in concert? and Yes, very attractive too)
haha, you crack me up... too bad you' re taken
haha i could literally be ur mom!
i'm definately kidding.
well i'm not. they're great
well obviously you'd then enjoy my farting and burping sounds that i so melodiously combine to make an amazing orchestra.....neked bleeghhh phhbtttt
Rush in philly in 1990.I was only 11 so I've been infected with the show bug for a long time now.
uh oh, do we have another guildbell member now on eZabel?
shhh ian he's a better speller than the last one...don't ruin it
I beg to differ, hilldan . . . he might be a better speller than the first member to arrive, but not the most recent.
yes another guilderbell peep, i didnt know r kelly was your 1st concert milt..when i saw that i was like...hmmmmmmmm, interesting.
its just an odd coincidence, okay, sir?
uh oh? why uh oh, mr. zabel? not ready for the fuzz?
no, just like uhoh uhoh
OH MAN i'm so jealous!!!!!!!!! my brother was going to take me to see Rush but my mom wouldn't let me go because i was only 9 years old. (i don't think that was too young.) finally saw them last july though and it was well worth the wait.
Warped Tour '97, is the first in memory. i started a bit late, apparently. anyway, warped tour then was pretty cool. i saw the Bosstones, Reel Big fish, Social D, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock and others. but to date...i've been to so many concerts i couldn't dream of counting.
sweet. that was the 2nd year of the warped tour right? i went to that too in asbury. the 1st year sublime headlined. i heard they didnt play the east coast though. he was already dead i think.
thats correct. i was VERY sad that i didn't get to see Sublime. i was hoping to see them, but he had to die. pennywise did "the same in the end" and it was extremely beautiful.
Mmm..Britney Spears at PNC Art Center I don't remember when but that doesn't really count.
The Donnas 2000 at the Troc in Philly
The Donnas 2001 at the Troc in Philly
Weezer July 23 2002 PNC Art Center..so amazing.
hey i was there weezer july 23... at pnc. well.. i was inside for like 5 minutes... and then got thrown out. but still i was there!
I already know one of my friends is going to mention the irony in this, but my first concert was back in . . . '92, '93 maybe? Xscape opened up for TLC and R. Kelly . . . and he actually dropped his pants on stage . . . it was disturbing . . . scarred me for life . . . he sure hasn't changed much, though . . .
hes got an UNBELIEVABLE voice, but hes such an amoral person! Funny thing his he was supposedly a strict baptist when he was younger....
That's a hot show...I love Xscape!
my first show...in like 97 or 98...save ferris...goldfinger...and sugar ray. thankfully, we left before sugar ray came on. i'd never been to a show and seen all the people i listened to constantly RIGHT in front of me. also, i was under the impression that the musicians had showered in pot. but no, that was the kid next to me.
i wish they'd leave the stupid drugs at home!!!
I can't remember my very first concert, since I've been going to concerts with my parents, ever since before I can even remember. But, I hafta consider something as being "my first concert," and that would be Gin Blossoms. It was in like maybe 1993, I'd say. So, Led Zepplin huh? You must be familiar with the theremin, then? I think Jimmy Page occassionaly played it.
Page was always the guitartist. I remember he would play it with a violin bow during * Dazed and Confused*....what a sound!
Yes, Page was a guitartist.. but, he did at times play the theremin, whilst simultaneously playing the guitar. Research it. :) The two musical instruments can be played at the same time, since the theremin is played hands-free.
what is a theremin, besides ur s/n???
Go to http://www.thereminworld.com/learn.asp for what a theremin is.
And, on http://www.thereminworld.com/bands.asp?index=l ..I just read a confirmation that the theremin was played for the song "Whole Lotta Love." Scroll down 'til you see "Led Zeppelin."
THANKS for the info, but i wouldn't know one if I fell over it!
ps u got cool parents!
first real concert (as in not just local band shows) was:
Weezer-Continental- February 11, 2002 yea baby!
hmmm what was my first?? haha z100 school spirit?? mandy moore, bbmak, and pink
i would have wanted to shoot myself after "candy", i'm sure. although seeing pink after her first album (which I call the "I'm hardcore and will kick ANYONE'S butt, plus i'm rich too, so bring it!), before her 2nd (which i call the "i'm pathetic why does no one love me" CD)
haha yeah bbmak was the highlight of the show. altho hearing my economics teacher tell me he just had to help a drunk girl with pink hair up the stairs was rather amusing.
I saw P!NK...she used to be cool...she's Emo now!!! haha (btw, this is SuchGR8Heights-4got to switch s/n's)
wow! that was my first (kinda) date with my (now) wife! good show :)
sweet! I saw alot of Yes with my husband. (Who? NO Yes! The Band? No, not the Band, the band called Yes? Who are they? No they are not the Who........)
you need to lighten up on the cough syrup during the daytime
yea that codiene can get to ya....
how did you get Yes from that??
do u remember that cartoon show with the 3 strange charecters singin in the begainning and they pop out of a water tower? I cant remember the name of the show but they did this spoofon *whos one first* by Abbott and Costello but they used the Who,Yes and the Band in it....uh I guess u had to be there. It was for the benefit of my generation.
it was the animaniacs! i remember that clearly.
Yehp it was! Me too. It was a good show.
i personally think this should be informative, not off topic.
it's not on the topic of your first concert...
I was trying to answer your question from #29 how'd i get Yes from that.
right, but the subject of how you got Yes from that is off the topic of "Your very first concert".
ok then my very first concert AFTER my very first concert WAS YES.
seriously, didn't want to go, glad i DID tho.
=P
was that the same concert with your husband?
no, didnt know him yet. prob the first concert i went with him was THE ALLMAN BROTHERS. We loved them.
i think u just dont like me.
i knew it.=P.............................
was it tiny toons? i dont recall!
THE ANIMANIACS "WOODSTOCK" SKETCH
Slappy: Skippy, what's the name of that group playing on stage?
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the group.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The group on stage.
Skippy: Who!
Slappy: The group playing on stage.
Skippy: Who!!!
Slappy: You're starting to sound like an owl, Skippy.
Skippy: Who is on stage!
Slappy: That's what I'm asking you: Who is on stage?
Skippy: That's what I said.
Slappy: You said who?
Skippy: I sure did.
Slappy: So tell me their name.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the group.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The group on stage!
Skippy: Who!
Slappy: The name of the band on stage!
Skippy: Who!!!
Slappy: You're doing that owl thing again, Skippy.
Skippy: I am not, Aunt Slappy! I'm telling you: Who's on stage.
Slappy: So tell me.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the group.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The group on stage.
Skippy: Who!
Slappy: That's what _I'M_ asking _YOU_!
Skippy: And I'm telling you the answer!
Slappy: Wait... Skippy, let's start over. Is there a band on stage?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Does that band have a name?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Do you know the name of that band?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Then tell me the name of the band on stage.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the band.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The band on stage!
Skippy: Who!
Slappy: The band playing on stage!!!
Skippy: Who!!!
Slappy: That's what _I_ want to know!!!
Skippy: I'm telling you!
Slappy: Who is on stage?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Who is?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Oh, so the name of the band is Yes.
Skippy: No, Aunt Slappy. Yes is not even at this concert.
Slappy: Then who is on stage?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: Who is?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: That's what I just said: Yes is on stage.
Skippy: No, Yes is not here. Who is on stage.
Slappy: What are you asking _ME_ for?
Skippy: I'm not!
Slappy: Wait... Let's try this again. Do you see the band on stage?
Skippy: No, I don't see The Band! That's a different group entirely.
Slappy: On stage, Skippy. Look! See the band?
Skippy: No, I don't.
Slappy: Get rid of those John Lennon glasses and look! There! There's
the band!
Skippy: No, that's not The Band! The Band is performing later on.
Who's on stage!
Slappy: You tell me.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the group on stage.
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the group!
Skippy: Who!
Slappy: The group on stage!
Skippy: Who!!!
Slappy: The band!!!
Skippy: No, The Band's performing later! Right now, we're listening to Who!
Slappy: That's what _I_ want to know!!!
my favorite character was Chicken-Boo
chicken-boo, whats the matter with you? you don't act like the other chickens do. you wear a disguise to look like human guys, but you're not a man, you're a chicken-boo!
well, you know that was my show . . . I used to walk around singing that all the time!
I like the Goodfeathers with the Godpigeon and whatnot, and also liked Good Idea / Bad Idea.
lol wow, you found the script for this. great stuff
we watched the abbot and costello clip of this all class period one day in shop class. boys thought it was hysterical. its one of my favs too. my dad gave us such a crazy obsession with them.
sorry if that was so long, it was a good one tho
I saw Yes one time.
they are unique, and an aquired taste. Ever listen to Dream theatre?
I LOVE DREAM THEATER!
I'm starting to.....my daughters freind introduced their music to me and so far I like, just got to be careful bout lyrics and such.
I thought I would like them (cause i like Yes and other progressive rock) so I bought one of their cds. I think I got the wrong one, cause it was like all stupid cover medlies. I was disappointed. Have a better suggestion?
Last time I saw Dream Theater, Joe Satriani and King's X opened for them. They were both amazing. I actually thought Satriani and King's X put more effort in that particular show. The first time I saw Dream Theater, they were so intense, that I ended up, exiting to the parking lot, and hurling. It was awesome! The last time tho, they weren't as intense. Probably cuz it was a bigger venue. The first time was at the Electric Factory in Philly and the second time was at the Sony/Blockbuster Tweeter Center in Camden. Big difference, and that's most likely why the difference in the performances. You would think the case would be opposite, but no. The Factory show was a million times more intense and enjoyable, and they had some awesome theatrics with video screens all over.. and they played none stop.. straight through. Just one song after another with not one pause at all. At the arena show, they weren't as energenic, with kinda of a lazy feel and needless pauses in between. Satriani and King's X ended up being more of highlight that night for me. I'd definately listen to some of their stuff. You might like it.
the young man who introduced me to to Dream Theatre asked me, next time they come to the NY area, if I wanted to go see them with him! Thats so FUNNY, hes 16 and I'm 30 yrs older! it'll be like taking his mom to a concert!
of course, my daughter will come along....
Saw Dream Theatre twice live.
If they come this way to the east I'll prob go see em with my daughters *cough cough* boyfriend actually i think 3 out of five of em are from Long Island!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heck yea! I was there for Weerez Feb. 11, 2002! That was my first real concert
NICE! yo there was like a million and a half witnesses there that day... my group alone was like 15 people lol
now that I think about it, I was there with a group of JWs, and I ran into some JWs I know. and now I find out there were two other JW groups there? unbelievable! good show too.
YES! JW's take over Weezer concerts!! WOOHOOO!
where are my anti-weezer people at?? i KNOW you are out there!!
looks like your all alone on this one dan...
NOOOOO...they are out there!!
They simply don't exist. You are 1 of 3 things: one who is a loyal Weezer junky, one who has a Weezer album or two to complete their collection, or Dan Hill-in which case resistance is futile..just join us already! You know you want to!
argh...that "islands in the sun" is making me want to become a fan! never fear...i will resist the temptation!
That's totally the wrong reason to be a fan. Fall in love with the fact that Rivers-I love Rivers-is a complete psycho and that despite years between the first two albums their fan base grew at an incredible rate. Love them because Pat is bald and Scott is an old man who wears plaid pants and can rock at. Love them because Bryan makes the most amazing face ever during the Buddy Holly video.
Love them because of River's lyrics and the simplicity of his Rock & Roll.
i loved rivers after i read this---(not an exact quote) so our plane is starting to shake and we're thinking its about to go down. now i look over at our tour manager, jimmy and he's turning white. and i must say this frightened me because jimmy is black.
I have my whole file of River's quotes..gotta look for that.
Rivers is halfway to becoming a JW with the suits he has been sporting.
no, you can't be tempting lynz like that. make her all excited.
OOOH MAN! I hadn't seen that comment until now, that's soo exciting, RIVERS WILL BE MINE!
no, you cannot have him.
who.....is......Rivers......?
Rivers Cuomo..hottness.
ok....buttttt who is he??????
Well..his names is Rivers Cuomo. If you enter that into google it will probably tell you that he is the 32 year old founder of Weezer. He hates people and loves half-japanese girls.
Da da those half-japanese girls, do it to me everytime. Oh the redhead said you shred the cello, and I'm jello baaaaby.
We should look up and see how many time those lyrics have been quoted on here.
not as often as you think...only 3 or 4 times.

thanks for asking my question....i was thinking the same thing
lol...anytime! i had a FEELing u were thinking that ;p
