What you know about a song before you even hear it

jp by jpOG 2003 · May 13, 2004 · 321 views

Some artists, often obnoxiously, seem to have the same outline for every song they have and just rearrange the words to at least confuse us a little. What, when you hear, oh, (insert artists name here) has a new song out, you absolutely KNOW will be included?

-R. Kelly will utter the word "after party" somewhere in there.
-Nelly will decide he needs to pronounce a word like "here," "there," "bear", "care" not like so, but moreso like "hurr, thurr, burr and curr."
-Chingy-see Nelly.
-Any rap song will have to be edited.
-Eminem will mention Dr. Dre
-Any Ataris song will have a long, 30-45 second or so long music part at the end with no singing, that usually comes between words and the last chorus. But I don't mind that, I like them.
-The Beastie Boys will mention all three of their stage names in the song, along with White Castle, Brass Monkey, a small clip from another song, tv show, or movie. Also love the Beasties though too.
-Any overweight rapper will include the phrase "I'm not a player, I just crush a lot"
-Jay-Z will cleverly refer to himself in the third person, but not calling himself Jay-Z...wow Jay, always keeping us on our toes
-Ludacris will try to make "toes" rhyme with "Jehoshaphat," and make it work
-Lil Jon will say WHAT, OKAY, and YEAH a lot, along with some WATCH OUT's
What trends have you noticed?

skaorsk8 #16.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

true, true....although i'm not impressed by sugarcults' newest effort, and also, i don't understand the attraction of alkalie trio yet.

skaorsk8 #15 skaorsk8OG 2002

any rap song by a male will involve a description of a car that they assume impresses females. although i doubt a woman will be more impressed by 22 inches rims than 21. but what do i know?

aviator #15.1.2.1 aviatorOG 2004

skaorsk8 #14 skaorsk8OG 2002

any radiohead song will involve incohert speech with pathetic wailing - and stupid people will buy this in droves and proclaim it "magnificent ... their best work yet!" when it sounds exactly like all the other incoherent speech with pathetic wailing, just with a different album cover.

skaorsk8 #13 skaorsk8OG 2002

any busta ryhmes song will involve growling

skaorsk8 #12 skaorsk8OG 2002

any clay aiken song will involve spying on a woman.

ophelia #12.1 opheliaOG 2003

dude the fact that you know anything about recurring themes in clay aiken songs kinda scares me

skaorsk8 #12.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

bah. i've only heard one. and it reminded me of your mom.

skaorsk8 #11 skaorsk8OG 2002

any britney spears song will feature a section of heavy breathing. she learned this from janet.

skaorsk8 #10 skaorsk8OG 2002

Dave Matthews will mention s-e-x somehow, he may mumble it, but it will definitely be there.

ophelia #10.1 opheliaOG 2003

skaorsk8 #10.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

ophelia #10.1.1.1 opheliaOG 2003

um...go google it man, read all the lyrics

tesoro #9 tesoroOG 2001

i thought of another...alkaline trio will sing about death..or something related there to...ie: spilling guts/"your coffin or mine"..etc.

tesoro #8 tesoroOG 2001

1st thing i thought of was about the ataris...they'll mention "stars" in nearly every one of their songs...especially on End is Forever.

aviator #8.1 aviatorOG 2004

haha and they will cop some 80's junk in there

ophelia #7 opheliaOG 2003

haha, it's funny though, cause so much of that stuff that you're mentioning, these trends, aren't musically based at all, they're like catch phrases or, basically whatever's considered to be "cool to say" nowadays...

every one of fear factory's songs(i can't stand the band, but they have amazing double bass action)will have either a synthesized keyboard or an insanly fast palm muted guitar/double bass breakdown..sooo played out..and then their chorus will consist of monistary/munk like singing, while the verse is rough sung uncreative lyrics

DMX will kill at least 5 people in each song, and, will bark profusely

beachbum #7.1 beachbumOG 2002

hahahahaha-DMX killing and barking. so hysterical. and true

aviator #6 aviatorOG 2004

you also know that you will hear drum roll in a Blink 182 song.

fivezero #5 fivezeroOG 2003

a lotta times rappers try to impress you with listing several different gun names, along with liquor brands. i do love to hear "bottle 'o hypnotique" in a rap song tho.

hunkpapap #4 hunkpapapOG 2003

i know that a song by a "new" female artist will suck...

modestjesse #3 modestjesseOG 2004

-Ludacris will try to make "toes" rhyme with "Jehoshaphat," and make it work

LOL that's GREAT! I love Ludacris too. :P

skaorsk8 #2 skaorsk8OG 2002

any song by a christian rock band will require pretending not to be a christian rock band, to sell more albums...

aviator #1 aviatorOG 2004

Any song by a punk artist will not include a good guitar solo.
Any song by rap artist will talk about the streets
Any song by a pop star will talk about senseless junk
Any song by an alternative rock gorup will have the word "I" in it talking about something they feel remorse or happy about.
