HUM Awareness Month

ophelia by opheliaOG 2003 · May 25, 2004 · 173 views

HUM, one of my FAVORITE BANDS of all time, is one'a those bands who kinda came, did their thing, and left, without anybody really even noticing their arrival or departure..HUM basically slipped through the cracks..BUT..June, as absolutely NONE of you know, is national HUM Awareness Month..Why didn't any of you know?..Maybe becuase of the obscurity of the band?..Um, no it's cause this month of awareness is something I kinda just made up..BUT join me in my month of HUM praise!..Unfortunately - these nerdy, over educated, pioneers of space rock/indie rock/whatever the heck you wanna call'm went over looked in their day, and, continue to go over looked today. As acts such as Jaykwan, Christina Aguilera, and Nelly fill the air,and in an age where short attention spans rule, and a 3 year old song is considerend ancient - HUM get burried that much deeper into the soil of our generation's musical memory. Just about 60% of you have heard their song stars, really their only song to make it to the radio(besides comin' home but nobody paid that any mind) and about 45% of you probably remember stars if you heard the lyrics, what I'm trying to do is turn that figure around to 100%, and not just for their single, I want ya'll to get FULLY DRENCHED in HUM...So - borrow it from a friend, download it, buy it, whatever you do, lets make National HUM Awareness month a month to remember...

I really like HUM too. I have both of their albums. (There are only 2, right?) They're sort of depressing, though, so I only listen to them when I'm feeling mellow. Otherwise they sorta bum me out.

Oh, duh, I looked at the site and realized there are 4. I only knew the most recent 2.

fivezero #6.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

oh stop feeling sorry for yourself. hum is technically amazing. the singing leaves much to be desired.

ophelia #6.1.1.1 opheliaOG 2003

ok, dude, HUM just wouldn't be hum, w/out that monotone apathetic style singing of his...like...it needs that to complete the nerdy rock vibe...

power to the man?..what the HECK does that mean?...like, did you mean power to the people?...Cause um, The Man, is a phrase that's used to describe any authority in power that oppresses the people of the land...so why in the world would you wish power to him
