So I need a new Verizon phone. I've had two LG phones, and I like their features, like vibrate twice then ring, and being able to press the buttons on the outside of the phone to cancel an incoming call. Nice features like that.
What phone is good right now? Or should I wait another month for some next gen phone coming soon? Any tips?

i've been rockin the vx6700 on VZW for a while now. I did the AKU ROM update to version 3.5 (essentially close to WinMob 6) and the phone is 200% better.
I got it originally b/c VZW charges $45 for a PDA data plan but the VX6700 has Wifi built in.
This is an old forum, but i just got the new LG phone. (I always get LGs, i love em) http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2971
I am loving this phone. it's super slim & sleek. and i'm having fun playing w/ the features.
Good choice of phone... the 2MP camera is great and the screen is really crisp...
With Verizon, is there any way I can get TWO phones? Like buy one get one free?
Yeah there is, if you start a family plan you can. Currently the promotion is if you do decide on the Chocolate, buy that and get the LG-5200 for free...
I'm already on a family plan. So that promo should work for me?
Yeah it should work for you... do you really want the VX-5200??
Mikayla has a slightly older LG phone that she is having problems with, and is sick of it. So the 5200 would be perfect for her.
So, the Chocolate is out now, and I can get it for $50. Should I get this or the LG VX8300?
I was looking into the Chocolate... I think you should get that instead of the VX-8300. I think the slider's are a cool design and it has more options (not that your into them) than the 8300. Plus the Chocolate has the Bluetooth Stereo Headset Profile :D
Can you open slider phones with one hand?
Yeah you can, it should have some sort of grip on the front to slide it up with your thumb
I don't get this infatuation with cell phones.
I get a free one every year, it works, its got a camera that I never use, 500 features I never care about. Yay sweet, let's see how far I can throw it
i don't know, i usually really like new features on phones...ie: video clips, ez-tip calculator, new ringtones, fun times.
yeah i agree. i want either a simple phone with a few phone features that i need, or a full PDA phone, because i like having a PDA.
i don't need all the frivolous text messaging extras, crazy speakers, SD storage, etc
i dunno
Ian,
I will be testing the VX-8300 out sometime this week... I will give you my opinion on the phone, so far I like the specs of it and for a simple yet up-to-date phone it should be good...
This phone has the speakers on the side and the Transflash storage port...
I don't get it either..I don't need a camera or games..a million other things. I want it to be compact so it isn't heavy and have the ability to text and call people. Maybe fun ring-tones, thats it.
omg like totally get the pink razr yay weeeeee
haha
just saw this on engadget mobile, it looks sweet:

i currently have a motorola and enjoy it, it has the same hit a button while its vibrating and then it won't ring thing you want
That phone isnt for Verizon and wont be for Verizon, it runs on a GSM Network, so most likely it will be on T-Mobile or Cingular... its a nice looking phone though...
Verizon will be getting an update to the Razr it will be called the KRZR K1m
It has some nice features like the play buttons on the outside of the phone and should be faster than the current RAZR...
I heard they're coming out with a new palm os in 2007 that will surely be on whatever phone they turn the treo into. That's kind of what I'm waiting for. I love Palm, but it's just not putting out good product right now. I've been reading that they've got a lot of new products in production - I'm waiting for that.
I don't think motorola can be ericsson in the cell phone market for my money. Ericsson's have really long lasting batteries, stand up well to abuse, and are usually very small, which I prefer. But obviously, if you want the pda funcionality, it's not the phone for you.
I meant to say "beat" ericsson in the last paragraph. Ooop!
ericssons are really weird shaped. Like a mutant bar of soap.
Maybe it's a dumb reason to not buy something--just because it looks weird--but that's how I feel.
Hahahaha - I have no idea what that means! I'd hate to wrangle with a mutated bar of soap. :) :) :)
i really liked my samsung. I would highly recommend checking some of their stuff out.
Well, if you want a top of the line phone I would suggest the Samsung SCH-a990 Samsung SCH-a990
This phone is packed with features, everything you would be looking for and then some... but of course it comes with a price.
The step below that one is the LG "V"
This phone is also feature packed, in fact I currently use this phone now. The camera doesn't zoom so it isnt the greates camera phone, but the MP3 player on it is excellent.
Another decent phone is the LG VX8300
I havent personally used this phone, but it is an upgrade to the VX-8100 (the one with the blue cover).
The new phone that will be coming out is the "Chocolate" "Chocolate" It looks like this one will be competing with the SLVR and will have the features of an MP3/Cell phone...
If I get anymore info, I will let you know...
Looks like the LG VX8300 might be what i'm looking for. I hope it has vibrate before ring. best feature ever.
That would make me so nervous! I'd feel the vibrating and rush to pick up the phone before it rung. But it's better than carrying a mutant bar of soap.
phone's always in my pocket. if i get a call, i get a good 15 seconds of vibrating to either answer it, or press a button to drop the call (which i can do without even putting my hand into my pocket or taking the phone out!)
it's sweet. so, basically, my phone never rings. unless i've left it in the other room and i don't hear it vibrating.
Motorola Q or the Razr
The Q is a good choice, but unless you get the data plan, it wont be worth it...
The Razr is ok...
I'd love the Q, but don't want to pay $200. :/ I could really use the PDA functionality.
I'm not too excited about the RAZR.
im confused, i thought the razr was supposed to be a great phone... its not?
Well, its a little out dated. They are coming out with a newer version of the RAZR which will have some significant improvements, but the current offering isnt that great.
Plus, the RAZR for Verizon is probably the worst RAZR out there, due to the great Motorola software being removed and replaced by the generic Verizon UI.
