I saw it, and I liked it a lot. I really liked the sets and the 40s/50s art-deco style. I want to build a house that looks like the inside of that boat.

But I've got one problem with it:
OK. so it's set after Superman 2. This is the one where Superman turns into a human so that he and Lois can.. ahem.. get better acquainted... But then he turns back to Superman. This would explain Lois's son. Maybe I'm not remembering it correctly, but before/after he turns human, doesn't Lois then know that he's Clark Kent?

So in this movie, why wouldn't Lois remember that Clark Kent is Superman?

iwz iwz ·

he kissed her and made her forget

deanh77 deanh77Founder ·

seriously? I can't remember. but that seems as plausible as spinning the earth in the opposite direction to turn back time.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

Didnt he do that???

iwz iwz ·

haha, yeah, seriously.

"Superman also uses the rare "super-kiss" to make Lois forget he is Clark. While this was a real power Superman had in the comics, it was rarely used, and eventually removed from the comics."

saw this in Imax in California

we sat like in the 3rd row, it was PACKED, so i think it would have been more enjoyable from a couple rows back.. but still i really enjoyed this

You're crazy. If you liked the old ones then you have to like this one.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Well Superman was a big jerk in the movie. And ya know so very full of himself. I mean come on he waited around to get the credit for everything he did, so not superman. And the kryptonite parts were totally off. Even the smallest piece being near superman totally negates his powers so there's no way he could have been able to lift that thing laced with kryptonite. And yeah it was way to long. I so dislike the superman character in this movie.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Well we never see a tiny piece of Kryptonite near Superman in the movies. You have to leave the comics out of it. None of these comic book movies ever hold true to the comic story lines. What we do see however is that Superman struggled to get that rock mass off the Earth. We also see him tumble to the Earth because of that tiny shard being inside of him. So....I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. And Brandon Routh was a pretty good clone of Christopher Reeve.

iwz iwz ·

don't forget he supercharged from the sun right before he dove way underneath the rockmass. he probably had a nice barrier or seabed between him and the kryptonite. as the kryptonite got closer to him, he was further out into space where the rockmass became lighter and lighter...

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

WHAT?! I thought they did a great job with it! It was so nastalgic to hear the same old music and intro, along with the same font styling of the title.

And when Brandon Routh opened his mouth I couldn't beleive how much he sounded just like Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent.

I thought it was a great movie, though I didn't care for this Louis Lane as much, she was a bit dry compared to the original.

I'm really looking forward to the next ones...

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Yeah, I agree. I guess some were looking for a new story line with this one. I like the fact that they pick it up after Superman 2. I loved the first 2.

I saw this last night. it was pretty good. it was waaay too long, though. they could have cut out like 45 minutes.

also, the majorty of the film was just superman flying around saving people from large objects falling on them...he didn't beat anybody up, fight any huge robots, or even puch lex luthor...basically what i am saying is that it was not violent enough...haha, jk.

but anyway, it was well done, and i liked they guy they used to play superman. he was pretty good.

...oh, and the girl that played lois lane was hot!

iwz iwz ·

wow, check out how they remade marlon brando for superman returns

i heard that superman returns has like a 300 million dollar budget, an all time record. Judging from the trailor though i don't think it will be that good. i mean it looks good, but not 300 million dollars good. also judging from the trailor, i think they are taking superman in the wrong direction. it looks they are going to make superman dark, and he is not a dark hero. superman is supposed to be the oppitomy of good. apparently though, making any superhero dark makes them cool. i think that this concept is beng overused, and used on the wrong characters. Another thing that annoyed me about the trailor was that they did superman's outfit all wrong. the red they used for his cape and inisgnia was way too brown. it has to be bright red. and they made the superman symbol on his chest way too small. those are my thoughts on the up coming superman movie.

iwz iwz ·

watch the trailer i just linked below, in #14. it's looking a bit better.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

it definitely is starting to look cooler, I like the bullet bouncing off the eye shot from the trailer.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Yeah, I think it will be decent. I hope we see some other villians in this new series though such as Doomsday or Lobo.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

LOBO! imagine!

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Or Brainiac!

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

That's a possibility, actually. They better not jump the gun and throw in Doomsday. I want to see Mr. Mxyzptlk played by Gary Coleman.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Doomsday should be the last Superman of this series since he is the most destructive foe Superman ever faced.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

Mm-hm

i have never seen this screen typo before but it now must become an integral part of my communications online

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i want to see you do that in RL

malibu malibuOG 2001 ·

Rl as in real life? we went to see the movie stick it. and one of my favorite part was when the guy put his hands together and was like, "oooh too much rock for one hand. too much rock for one hand." love it.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

RL = Real Life

Stick It = Hot

fantastic 4 is good because of the hotness of jessica alba.

Hulk. Eh. It's cool when he's actually in hulk form.

Xmen is awesome, but...like matt says--way too many characters to develop.

Spiderman has been awesome, but a little too gruesome (like when green goblin or whoever the villian was from the first one gets skewered. blech)

I have never been impressed with the Superman movies. So, naturally, I wasn't excited to see this. But the preveiw is really good, and hopefully it's well done.

Batman movies have been great or silly. The first 2 and the last 1 were great. The rest were silly.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

yeah i liked the last batman, not my FAV movie, but i liked it

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

after having watched it, I can say that it was well done, but the I really could have lived w/o the last 45 minutes. I actually fell asleep during that part. *shrug* That doesn't happen to me too often.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i'll probably go see it, but i'm not all that psyched about it. i never really liked superman. the only superhero movies i really liked were the spiderman ones

iwz iwz ·

Not really into the X-Men movies?

The director that did X-Men 1 and 2 is doing Superman Returns

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

they were pretty good. I just felt that with the movies it's tough for the x-men movies cuz there's so many characters to develop. i liked them way better than hulk or fantastic 4 though

alexOG 2001 ·

i honestly think that Unbreakable is the best superhero movie ever made.

iwz iwz ·

:) i love that movie.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

you are 100% correct. you little tiny genius. that's one of my faves.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

it's my favorite too. i think one of the reasons it's my favorite because i didn't realize it was a superhero movie until the very end of the movie

iwz iwz ·

yeah!

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

oh good one, that is an amazing movie
