I have been grinning a lot.
I am kinda old, well at least on 'redsweater'( never going to be used to that ). I have been content with my many years of being single. I have been a wingman, a confidant etc. for those not satisfied with the solitary life. Never did I feel that I was missing out.
In short I like(d) being single.
I have been the bane of my friend's existence in their futile attempts to set me up. I am always cordial, polite and even entertaining, but nothing till now has materialized. I am very conscience of not playing games. I don't do it.
August 25 2007 5:30PM I arrive to at dinner at a couple in my hall's place. No biggy. I get introduced to a sister whom i've known for years but we've never talked. She's the only other guest there, so as the couple bbq's and are busy in the kitchen we are 'forced' to make small talk.
We talk, and talk, other guests arrive... but we are oblivious.
After dinner we talk, laugh, kid. We have a lot in common. We know the same people in Italy, Ukraine, etc etc. As a sister she has MANY privileges. I tell her how intimidating she must be to brothers, she likes that i can see past that.
So we've exchanged emails stating how much we enjoyed talking and are intrigued with each other.
So... we are going to Whistler for the weekend!!! HOW did that happen?! It is going to be very casual etc.. BUT still!! A first date for 30+ hours?!
This is crazy right?
(We are being chaperoned, by the couple, 4 of us)

ditch your chaperones. they will only hold you back!!!
i just emailed this thread to her!
So is it true what they say about Canadian women?
NO! The superfluous 3rd nipple is strictly genetic.
BUT if you are referring to a bumper sticker.. "Canadian Girls Kick %*^!".. yeah that is true.
you're canadian right?
true
What part of Canada are you from?
Vancouver ( so only a 1.5hr drive to Whislter )
Oh sweet... congrats... and just take your time and dont push anything. If its going to happen it will happen and you will definitely know it will work out if you two will just be relaxed and cool with eachother. The dating/getting to know someone should come easy.
listen to this man, he is the master of all that there is macking...
I to have heard of Giac's mastery of this craft
In distant lands many men will come to seek His wisdom in the mack
Actually, this wisdom is also referred to as "common sense" which some men loose when they go head over heals for a girl. I just try and bring reality back to those who have lost it and for the most part it works.
:D
I knew I liked you
i always liked starting small when dating (give them a small taste and get them hooked!) but after spending 30 hours with someone you see them at their best AND at their worst, which is pretty cool. If you spend the whole time talking on the way up, it's sort of like a "crash-course" on someone's life. Sports are fun (especially if you're good at it) because you get to see how co-ordinated the person is. That's important if you want someone who's good at sports/outdoors type/athletic.
I say start with that ski trip, but then decide to "take it slow", because rushing to get to know someone never works out. (or maybe it does but you missed the fun parts of dating, and getting to see that person in an entire range of circumstances).
I find it so weird(good) how easily we talked about everything. The 'crash-course' seems like it already took place, so much so that a new brother at the initial dinner asked me on Sunday where my girlfriend was, he was serious.
Sports.. i think i need to bring up my game... she plays competitive volleyball, tennis at least twice a week and was dirt biking two weeks ago. This weekend should be interesting... (although no skiing) Golf, Zip treks, Down hill mountain biking are pencilled in.
We leave in 21 hours!
Glad you have something or should I say someone to grin about! Have fun!!
Thanks Ladies.
I am just worried that perhaps coffee, maybe lunch would not have been a more appropriate first anything.
nah it's fine, just have a good time, don't stress out, and don't get too ahead of yourself or try to go overboard. she obviously likes you, so if you just be yourself things will be fine.
No reason for worries. There isn't necessarily a specific sequence. And even if there was, you got through the chatting at the initial meeting.
Aw congrats hun! I'm sure you'll have a great time... and a lot more to grin about :) ttysn
