Does anyone realize how huge the record is that ICHIRO is trying to break. Everyone always talks about hr's and power numbers, but Ichiro is going after a record that has been in place since 1920. George Sisler had 257 hits, since then there have been six people to have 250 hits and none since 1930, Thats 74 years since anyone has been close, and there are a lot more games in the season now. I am amazed at what he is doing, and I hope he makes it, I just wish his achievement would be put into a more signifigant light, instead of Mcgwire/Sosa getting 60 Hr's a meager 30 years after it was set and then bonds getting 73 a few years after that. There have been many to challenge the single season HR record but no one has challenged the single season hits record, it is truly amazing.
