Whatever happened to...
whatever happened to being excited about winter? The first snow fall? The cold temperatures, sitting cozy at home and drinking hot chocolate?
When I was little I coudlnt' wait for the first snow fall. My brother, sister and I would run out there first thing in the morning, immediately start building a snowman or something, and just hope that school is closed or at LEAST delayed. Now it's like.. when I hear about snow all I can think of is "great, that's gonna be WONDERFUL to drive in. I hope my stupid old car makes it. It's so cold I hope my car even STARTS. Ugh I hate snow" and I just hope that somehow I can get out of going to work so I can sleep all day and be a bum.
I don't even feel like making the effort to go snowboarding this year. I didn't go last year at all either. It's SO FAR!! I live way down in south jersey now so snowboarding is like 6 hours away. Ugh. Would rather drive down to North Carolina and see my friends. And it's warmer down there too!! Plus I need a new board because mine is splitting in two and that's not fun to ride. And boards are expensive! Not to mention the ridiculous price of lift tickets... So yeah.. I probably won't do that...
And then there's the holidays. It's getting really crazy, Christmas is EVERYWHERE. Ugh. And forget about shopping, there is no way I'm going anywhere near a mall, there's like 10 cars to each parking spot.. ughhhh
Drinking hot chocolate??? It has way too much sugar. I'd rather drink really strong coffee so that I have the energy to actually be awake all day. It gets dark so early now I feel like i should be sleeping by the time I leave work.
Yeah winter sucks when you get old.

I love the winter. I wish we had a real winter where I live now. The best we get is a sort of fall. Of course it's better than when we lived in San Diego where it was summer all year long.
see this is where I need to live. I LOVE summer and all summer activities. I love camping, I love the beach, I love driving with the windows down, I love how summer SMELLS. I love everything about it.
Personally, I LOVE the winter, I LOVE the snow, I LOVE to drink hot chocolate because I got too cold doing stuff outside, I LOVE to curl up in a million blankets and watch the snow fall, I love driving in the snow, and I love to snowboard. Winter is my friend.
It's only a problem for field service sometimes--hard to get hours in the cold, and no one ever wants to stay out late. Oh, and the stupid holidays are stupid....(redundant, I know)
ahhh yes that's one thing I forgot to mention. Ugh going out in service in the cold is SOOOOOOO ROUGH!!!
I was meant to live in a warm climate methinks.
And I'd LOVE to go snowboarding if it was closer and cheapr and I had a free new board. hehe
ME TOO! I still LOVE the first snow and any snow. i was so excited tues when it snowed i had to go outside. Winter is wonderful. The good stuff far exceeds any inconvenience. and even though it's pagan, i have to admit i love all the lights at night.
Are you the grinch?
yes but only when it's cold. Usually I am the happiest person alive. I just HATE being cold.. :(
i was basically saying all of these exact things yesterday. i was telling somebody how i think i'm getting old because now i don't like the winter that much, when i was a kid in school winter was the BEST! now i just don't like the cold, i hate that it gets dark so early, i hate shoveling snow, and i hate trying to drive my stupid car on ice. i love snowboarding... but... i think i'm just getting old
i like snow, but winter depresses me
oh my goodness! listen to all of you! Matt is an old man now! I think if anything winters are getting easier and easier cuz as you get older you have more resistance to the cold. Its all mental anyway, enjoy your youth!
cerrato... WHERE... HAVE...YOU...BEEN!
dude, we're gonna have so much fun in canada
Cerrato's going too! Man, this is going to be a great trip!
BLAH! YEAAAAHAHHHHH
matt have you learned! I dont do blahhs! Canada will be quite amazing its a solid group and my hair is at its proper rowdy length for a snowboard trip
that was my blah
haha i feel another fro contest coming on
i haven't cut my hair since early october, i think i'm gonna wait till after this trip to do it!
no way can i give you the "coolio" hairdo? i have tons of little rubber bands.
hahaha... bring em... i'll have to think about it though. i remember that HURT alot last time, especially when i took em out
haha oh yeah, having all your hair stand up for days can hurt. but i have no problem cutting the rubber bands out.
hahaha... uh... thanks?
aaron claimed last year he was going to let his fro grow out for a whole year to beat andrew this time. but i don't know, andrew's hair is getting pretty big.
i dunno my hair is getting pretty rugged and i've been gradually extending my mutton chops. if all goes well i'll be looking like wolverine by canada time!
i told cerrato the goal was to come BACK looking scruffy, not go there looking that way already..haha
yea, but i guess you need a place to start... soo
todd did you tell AMSTD about the trip?? They won't care, believe me
I don't even know when I start....So I'll just ask to start afterward...or let them know right away...I guess it's really all up in the air...I'd like to give this company at least 2 weeks.
hopefully they don't just fire you on the spot when you put in your two weeks like they did to rock supastar
actually that wouldn't be that bad, hahah...
I love snow so much but I hate the cold. If it's not snowing I don't see the point in it being cold. Also, I have my limitations to how much snow..the first two snow storms are cool (as are flurries all the time) but after that it should go away so I can go to the beach.
do you snowboard? I found that when I snowboard I can ignore the cold...but almost all other times the cold really gets to me. So I've been training myself to think "snowboarding" whenever I get cold, and I ignore the cold. It's weird, but it really works--ask Toby.
No..I find the idea of it very unsafe. I keep warm by wearing three shirts, my big furline jacket, gloves, a snow hat, and a scarf along with two pairs of socks and my boots.
i always think about that too-if i can be on the mountain in subzero temps, i can handle service in the cold. and then i remember i'm wearing a dress and not 10 tons of thermal clothing and it doesn't work too well.
i always say the same EXACT thing! the cold is pointless unless it's snowing.
I'm old....and i def don't think winter sucks!
i like shovelling snow, good, calorie burning exercise!
see.. i will NEVER give into this thinking... it makes you OLD, and i REFUSE to let that get me, its a epidemic... like the flu... FIGHT IT!!! STICK IT TO THE MAN! SNOW DAYS, YELLOW SNOW, and IGLOOS!!! THATS WHAT ITS ALLL ABOUT!
Yeh man! Right on! Well, not right on to the yellow snow, but otherwise, Right On! Wish I was only living through one season, for the whole year. I want winter all year long! An older brother in my congregation shares this view with me, ironically enough. He's in his 60s! So awesome! I'll be thinking the same when I'm in my 60s too. In 11th grade, we had an assignment on, if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why. I said Greenland, and because of the weather.
yea, i always thought that name was quite ironic...
Huh? Reread the post. What are you talking about? Heh.
i think he's saying it's ironic that Greenland is wintry and cold, whereas Iceland pretty lush and green, in comparison. i could be wrong. heck, i could be in a loony bin talking to myself. but i think i knew what he meant.
Yeh, I was gonna mention about that. ...like, wait, you were referring to Greenland, maybe, weren't you? And, be like, Ok, I see, gotcha. Beat me to it, Bribo. hehe
sorry its INEVITABLE i felt the SAME EXACT WAY.one day u wake up, and dont care anymore.
haha. you still have the board thats splitting in two?
and I refute everything you said in this post. I love winter, I love snow. it never pisses me off, and I hate newscasters who think the world is gonna end when it snows. and last year I drove up to mountain creek when we got dumped with 4 feet of snow by myself and it was the best riding ever.
the only thing that makes me super, super mad in the winter is the decreased daylight. i get up in the morning....and it's pitch black out, i come home....it light for maybe an hour and then its dark.
sadly winter is really the shortest season but it seems to drag forever.
See...I like snow..but...I can't stand the tempature that goes with it..so..in my perfect world, it'd snow, in the summer...ya get the beauty of a sunny blue sky, and the warmth of summer - along w/the the beauty of snowfall...only problem w/that is that it's physically impossble...reality sucks
