ALRIGHT. NO WORK till next year. I guess that means 2 weeks of partying for my sexy self. I love it when people use Mapex drum sets and forget to use hoops on the bottom of their toms. NOT. I was looking at someones Mapex drum set earlier and I have a lot of criticism. I have a cymbal on my drum set thats probably more expensive than the 2 cymbals and broken down Mapex set. I mean you just ain't a real dawg on the drums unless you play a premium set made by these places. Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, Drum Workshop, Pork Pie, Ayotte, Spaun, Gretsch, Ludwig (classic stuff of course), Noble and Cooley. I have to admit I have played on all of the sets. Still I agree that the best sounding set I played was a classic Ludwig. Another thing. Most cymbals sound great. I still love Sabian's HHX series. Those babies are awesome. I would love to get the whole set for fun. I am still going to stick with Zildjian. Anyways I wish they would have a Ghetto Christmas cartoon. It would just make me feel so much better to see Santa Clause break into someones apartment and get knifed by some crip.

(rolling eyes...)i have a yamaha, roomate has a vintage ludwig... started with a mapex many many moons ago, don't hate.
I'd have to agree. I think that playing a better set, not only makes you sound better, but I think perform better. I might be a mental thing, trying to live up to what it was made for, but if I sit at a set thats crummy, I play crummy. But I know I don't have the best set myself, so I'm prolly not the best drummer.... due to the set, of course.
I have to say that cymbal really make a huge difference too. But like you mentioned, high prices, I have a Zildjian Costom A Splash- 6" it cost about $79! Its small, shiney, sounds amazing, and makes me..... think about how much it cost. But I love it Nontheless.
haha 6" splash. I have the A custom ride 20" and the 18" crash and I use the ZXT and ZBT for my 14" china and crash. However I do want to get some HHX cymbals.
