eZabel Legacy

A self-proclaimed devotee of two Italian plumbers and a dragon named King Koopa, Pete Granata arrived on eZabel in the summer of 2003 and immediately made himself at home. His legendary Nintendo journal — a loving tribute to Jaws, Paperboy, and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out — revealed a guy who would genuinely skip a Saturday night party to bond with his NES, hooking it up to the LCD screen in his car for road trips like some kind of retro-gaming road warrior. Pete ran with the North Jersey crew, tight with skaorsk8, thefunkyfresh, forrestina, and malibu, and was a regular at eZabel meetups — from beach bonfires to go-karting to Rx Bandits shows. He threw his own housewarming bonfire that by all accounts featured "huge fires and dancing," and organized a snowboarding trip to Hunter Mountain, where he cheerfully educated fivezero on the finer points of skier-versus-snowboarder trash talk.

Pete had a gift for turning small moments into memorable bits. He roasted thefunkyfresh for blocking the view at concerts with his height, waged a passionate war over the correct pronunciation of ramen (it's "rah-men" in his household, and if you were eating his supply, you would comply — followed by pillow fights in boxers, naturally), and signed off messages as "Pedro" or "Pete G" with the casual warmth of a guy who genuinely wanted his friends to come ride jet skis. His reading habits were voracious — 72 forum threads, 62 journals, 44 events — suggesting he was far more plugged in than his modest comment count let on. He interacted with 54 different members across his brief run, earning a Social Butterfly badge that suited him perfectly: Pete wasn't the loudest voice in the room, but he was always in the room, and he made it more fun by being there. By late 2004, he'd drifted away with one final comment hyping up an unnamed DJ's looks, as casually as he'd arrived.

eZabel Personality Type: ESFP — "The Party Starter." Pete burned bright and brief on eZabel — a social connector who threw bonfires, debated ramen pronunciation with theatrical intensity, and never met a Nintendo cartridge he didn't love. He showed up ready to have a good time and left before anyone could get tired of him, which is maybe the coolest move of all.
