Nintendo Games
We all had an NES (nintendo entertainment system)...My nes was lost in a move a few years ago...i picked one up on ebay for about 30 bucks last year, and play it every tuesday night after the bookstudy. It's a date that never stands me up. I hook it up to the Lcd screen in my car for long trips. I still buy games online and at used game places. so here are a few of my favorite games with explanations.
--Jaws-- really bad music coupled with a stunning 2D graphics scheme. rule# 1 is that jaws never dies. you have to hit him in the water with a little gun til his power goes down wihle dodging stingrays and jellyfish...when his power goes to nothing, it's a new level of trying to kill jaws where you have to stab him exactly in the belly with the front of the sailboat when he comes out of the water...it's addicting, i havent' beat it since i was like 12, and i'm 20 now.
--Super Mario 2 and 3-- i was sick of Super mario 1 in like 1987, 2 and 3 offer alot more visual and mental stimulation. So i play them alot.
--Jeopardy -- this person can NOT get enough a game made in 1988, with questions about general hospital, hair metal bands, and teddy ruxpin. WHO IS me? it's an amazing game, very high tech (you can choose different charachters and even your very own name)
--Contra and Mike Tyson's punchout -- 2 games i always had to hide from the parents. I wish i didn't play punchout as a child. It gave me the violent fists i now brandish. If i didn't play as a kid, maybe i wouldn't have bitten that guys ear off last night.
--Paperboy -- i can't resist this one. for a game, this one touches reality closely. The paperboy has to deliver papers to houses by throwing papers from a moving bicycle into a small mailbox from like 20 feet away. As the work week moves on, obstacles increase...realistic obstacles, like breakdancers on the sidewalk, women with frying pans chasing you down, tornados, rolling bicycle wheels, and the random grim reaper walking into your moving bike...the week starts on a monday, i haven't made it past wednesday yet.

you cant beat the 2 player games!!!
life force, two twin jets kicking intergalactic but and all types of crazy aliens, or legendary wings, same thing but a little more roman winged fighters, ok and what about ninga Giden, I soo hid that one from the rents, ummmmm then you have zelda, and the world of hyrule, great title, and a solid scrolling fighting games, TMNT the turtles!!! the arcade! the single greatest nintendo adaptation.... i love these trips down memory lane
Nintendo was huge to me! I played Double Dragon, All the Megaman games [they're still making new ones btw], Rad Racer, RC Pro Am, Legend of Zelda, Legendary Wings was sweet, Section Z, ALLL the Mario games o'course, Ninja Gaiden, the arcade version of TMNT was sweet, but there was also a nice NES side scroll version of it. You could drive around the turtle van in that one. my favorite mission is when you had to disarm the bombs under the damn, SO hard. I also liked Strider a lot...the sword swipe is what did it for me, lol. I liked A Boy and His Blob, wayyyy strange game. You'd feed him different jelly beans and the blob'd do different things. I also liked Time Lord. I could go on, but i have to go snag some tacos..
up up down down left right left right a b a b select start ....i didn't even own that game and i could recite that in my sleep by the time i was 11...ask me the names of all 12 apostles, though...and i might have gotten confused. i know now, though.
Saw a T-shirt with "up up down down left right left right a b a b select start" (Phew) written across it. I was thinking of getting it.
wow pete... this journal really brings me back. i think i might have to download an emulator again
I was thinking the SAME thing... remember we used to play that emulator at IBS all day... hahaha
yeah... haha... i remember getting so into the game and forgetting that i was actually on the phone with somebody. they'd be all "and this just isn't working right... hello? HELLO!?" and i'd be like "oh i'm here... i was just uh... telnetting into your profile to see if there were any nework conflicts... nope! just wait an hour, restart your computer and call back tomorrow if that doesn't work" then i'd finish getting the crap kicked out of me by mike tyson
jaws was the best
i love defenders of the crown....
i loved jaws & mario 2 and I totally rocked paperboy. ahh, the good old days. we had a power pad too to play olympics on. good stuff. i feel like digging out the old nintendo right now.
I loved Adventure Island the best. I bought that one at an Amish Farmer's Market, in Lancaster, PA. Couldn't stop playing the game. Rad Racer was awesome. You could even play the game in 3d mode with the 3d glasses that came with it. I always wanted to get the power glove, but never did. Mario 3 was good. I remember going to the store to buy it, the day it came out, and my parent's bought it for me, for getting straight As in 3rd or 4th grade. I liked Back to the Future, but it drove me crrazy that I couldn't get pass the board after the café scene. Getting the hover board was the best part. In the last board, supposedly you drive the Delorean, but sadly of course, I never reached the final level. Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. got boring fast, since the same few boards keep looping, and you never will see a different looking board, other then like the 4 that keep looping. That's probably why they put the the 2 games on the same one cartridge, so they don't feel as bad, knowing that they cheated you.
who remembers battletoads?? now THAT was the best game ever. you got to ride speeder bikes like in return of the jedi. schweet.
battletoads vs. double dragon man!!
battle toads was good. PRO wrestling was good. P.O.W. was fun. Galaga was good times. Ninja gaiden, bad dudes, contra, super contra, balloon fight was a good time waiting to happen, spy hunter, rc pr am.. all i know is once my panrents bought me the 140 game in one cartridge.. my life outside was over. i used to play this circus game a lot where you were in a circus and do tricks and stuff.. i also remember this diving game.. oh wait.. CAVEMEN games.. was hott stuff... tossing your wife.. starting a fire.. racing dinos.
one of my friend's SWEARS he has the power pad in his attic. we MUST find one on ebay and play "track and field".
hahahahaha oh track and field. such good stuff. i should see if we still have ours.
i loved the Zelda games and Megaman. i never really got to finish my Zelda games cuz my nintendo stopped working for some reason. but i liked playing Megaman, even tho all of them were pretty much the same. just get thru a stage and beat a robot, and dr. wiley would get away again, thus bringing in the next megaman game
do i see a nintendo event coming on???
instead of the next lan party?/
yeah, what's up with that? mike said it would be next week, no?
hmm. apparently in my "absense" he's been to lazy to make an e-vite.
I have enclosed a jewel that will help him make an e-vite.

hey i remember those! i remember how i wanted a tail like mario had
someone definitely bring the power pad!!
excitebike was the hotness. you could make your own dirtbike track
...i suck at lan games, nintendo party would be more up to my speed.
back in the day, i was the man at mario brothers in nitendo. we had to original one growing up. it was insane. but i could never beat level 8, the last one. i tried so hard.
back in the day, i don't remember you as a man
You have been deceived, she has had several sex changes.
that explains so much, and oh so little
you're both so retarded. here's the line. and there's the two of you so far behind the smart line that you can't even see it.
Whoa..well wouldn't that make you border-line darling?
i didn't even say where i was in relation to the line.
You used the preposition 'here' indicating that the line was by you.
don't try and trick me with your double talk.
i tore mario 1 up this weekend...it's sad when you deny your freinds of your presence at a saturday night party to bond with 2 italian plumbers trying to defeat a dragon named king koopa...sad indeed.
Did you tear up Mario like this guy?
He uses all kinds of tricks in the game, even showing off a bit. But everything he's doing in the game is real and can be done.
whoa! that's so crazy!
thats cool. but at the end looks like he was playing on an emulator. so there might have been shennanigans going on.
yea that last scene looks like an emulator pops up...
yeah, i think this was done in an emulator, but doesn't change the fact that you can do these in the game.
HOLY CRAP. thats freakin sick. he did that bullet and beetle thing scene on level 8-2 matrix style....is there a writeup anywhere on how to do some of that stuff, or did this guy just have way too much time on his hands from 1984-2003?
