why not post your resume here for creative suggestions to make it look like you have more experience than you actually do?
Sooo you have called up and/or written to and/or visited and/or spilled gasoline on EVERY single business in your area?? There's gotta be sumtin!! Don't give up hope something will turn up, but i duno you gotta look for it super crazily sometimes. Have you called up any temp agencies in the area? Temp agencies usually have SOMETHING... PA is tough to find a job tho I hear ya...
yea tinner, im in the same boat, lookign around crazy for a job... but still havent found anything yet... not admin assistant for me, but anything to do with computers...
ill keep my ears open for ya, teen.
i put my resume up...
Your best option is to post your resume on Monster.com or CareerBuilder.com It is free for you, the businesses and companies have to pay to access. You will get a variety of responses that you can choose from.
i wouldn't do that, really. i got a CRAPload of calls from putting my resume on career builder, to do sales for stupid things.
one guy called and said "you contacted us about selling final purchases...when can you come in for an appt?"
i was like...no i didn't, i'm only looking for tech sales...what's final purchases?
caskets.
i don't know. my mom's a headhunter and i asked her what tina should do and this is what she suggested.
Ill hire you...can you tune a guitar?
no but she can tune ..a...fish...
aww crap that joke sucks
Just my opinion, but I think you should be a little more specific in the "objective" section.
how? what would you put?
OBJECTIVE: To conquer the world and enslave all!
The objective section should really say exactly what type of job you want, where you want to work, what type of company you want to work for, etc... in one short phrase. E.g., given what you said above, it might be something like
OBJECTIVE: Administrative Assitant position in the Northwest New Jersey area.
Actually, you might want to look at a site like http://www.collegegrad.com/resumes/ or http://resume.monster.com/ to get some other ideas on how to improve your resume.
Work at a car dealership! I don't know why..it just sounds like a good idea to me.
haha i just applied to one actually like 2 hours ago..!
That's what I'm gonna do once I get used to school again..go to VW so I can eventually get a good price on a Cabrio.
nice taste ;)
hahaha. dumping the volvo's and coming to my world of VW's??? YES!!!
yo tina you only type 40 words per minute?? wow. you need to be on AIM more. that dramatically improves anyone's typing ability.
I used to play RP games when I was like 14 and it involved a lot of typing. I could type like 70+ it was fun..I haven't timed myself in a long time though.
its true, between aim and msn messenger...i can type so much faster and never have to look at the keyboard
well thats what made me faster actually... b/c i dont write out full words, and also i write in all lowercase... if i didnt do that, i would be typing like 100 words per minute... okay maybe not... plus the fact that i cant spell all that well is also a draw back... anyway.. .enuff of defending myself.
Did you try the local paper? www.mcall.com then classifieds, jobs. They have a lot of good ads. I'd spruce up your resume, too. Remember, you want to draw the eye to the items that will help you get the job you're applying for, so if you want an admin job, put those jobs first, even if they're not chronologically. Try to list more than use sentences, it's a report, not a letter. Try this objective: "To excel at a position as an administrative assistant that will challenge my current skill level and foster new growth."
I really think I got my current job because of my snazzy resume. I certainly wasn't qualified... ;)
As far as monster & careerbuilder, I did the same job Malibu's mom did for a while, and for a large firm that's actively looking for people to fill gaps, it's positive. But very few offices need to find people that way. The market is so open for admin jobs, that you really don't need to waste your time being hassled by people offering you jobs that you really don't want. But I guess that depends on how desperate you really are...
(If you're operation here fails, I've got an extra bedroom. :) )
