Paying Attention To Instruction Given

specialk by specialk · Jun 18, 2004 · 192 views · · · Journal

So, my friend in Florida emailed me this today. I am not 100% sure where she got it, but regardless, it's a very good reminder to us. Read on:

Remember the letter that was read to all congregations regarding going out to get food during the break.? My sister was at the convention this past weekend and they said the brothers had met with the Cow Palace management and told them that a letter had been read to all the congregations about requesting the friends not to go out during the afternoon break and get food.

Reason being is that the staff at Cow Palace want to open the concession stands and sell food, they figured McD's and KFC and other places are making all this money and they want in on it...They had noticed that the brothers/sisters had been doing this for several years and wondered if they can't afford this then why are they going out to do it (that's why society lost all the other arenas due to management wanting to open concessions and sell food. The Society said NO!)

Anyway, at this past weekend's convention, unbeknownst to the brothers, the management secretly went down to the various fast food places to see if the brothers/sisters obeyed and they were pleasantly shocked and surprised to learn that NOT ONE OF THE Witnesses had gone down during the break to get food.

They went back and told the brothers what they had done and the management said they were shocked!!!

They could not believe that a letter had been read to all congregations and that everyone obeyed!!

Needless to say the brothers were so happy to hear that and are going to let the society know. What a great witness! So they want everyone to know what happened and hope and pray that at the next conventions to come all the friends will do the same.

I just thought I would share this with everyone, so we could kep this is mind when we are at our conventions and elsewhere, and so we could remember, that we never know who is watching us, and what we do. We want to make sure we're giving a good witness all the time, but especially at things such as conventions and assemblies.
**I know none of that information is new to you guys, but I figured it might be a nice thing for you to read. We all need encouraging reminders from time to time.**

**LOVE YOU ALL!!**

well its nice florida listens, they don't care one bit here in ny, they even push past attendants in the parking lots. If anoyne has done parking/security duty at nassau colisieum you know what i am talking about.

I'm not sure this happened in Florida. My friend lives there, but I'm not sure what state the email came from.

But yeah, they do that here sometimes. Not a lot, but my husband and my brother have worked the parking lot before, and there have been some impatient people. I guess it's just part of that wonderful thing we like to call imperfection. :)

yep, i absolutely do. no one listens - it's an "i'm more important than anyone else" attitude. i did parking lot last year, i'm still in shock about some of the stuff i saw when i told brothers and sisters what to do.

haha LOL. Ever been to a Billy Ray Cyrus concert. I haven't but I heard that he plays a lot of these really hick county fairs and people get all excited to see him cause nothing happens in their neck of the woods and that they all go crazy and push and shove and cause what appears to be a soccer riot. I mean the guys performing like 6 different versions of Achey Breaky Heart. LOL

aren't we supposed to bring our food with us anyway? So this shouldn't even be an issue....right?

You would think. But I know in our area, over the years, there are more and more people that go to fast food places down the street. So I can see if everyone does it, how it would be a problem.

Yeah there are a rather large number at our district who always leave to go get food between sessions.

same with ours. the past few years there were concession stands open and everyone would eat there too.

well, it applies for like going to Starbucks too. Many bring food but then might just go get some coffee. Can't do that anymore..
