Does it make me less of a person?
So, I worked my forst "official" night at my new job tonight, serving tables at a brand new restaurant called The Polo Grille. I had a blast, it was a VIP party, and I even waited on a retired baseball player from the area (paul O'Neill, former Reds player), and he tipped me $40. So overall, the night went well.
Except for one part. Let me preface this by saying that I despise (and that is a strong word for me, because I try to love everyone) probably a total of 4 people in this world. And it just so happened that a certain girl I went to high school, who is one of that group of 4 people, walked into the restaurant tonight. Apparently, she married into money (her hubby is the realtor for the plaza that the restaurant sits in), and is just as stcuk up as she was in high school. She was all chummy with a few of my bosses, and the owner of the company as well. I griped to one of my coworkers about it, and she offered to take the table if this chick sat in my section. Turns out, she did sit there, AND she saw me. But my wonderful coworker waited on them anyways, which I greatly appreciated.
Anyways, this girl acted all snooty every time I walked by, like she was TRYING to make herself heard. It was really irritating. I'm sure she was thinking "ha ha, look at Keirsten, she's working and I'm rich." Trust me, she's like that.
Anyways, she was really rude to my coworker as well, and they didn't leave a tip either.
But the best part was when my coworkers found out that she was my age, and they said she looked around 35. I'm 23, so that's pretty rough. Oh, and my bosses that she was acting all chummy with? They said they cannot STAND her. So, even though I'm working and she probably isn't, I don't care. I'm doing my part to help my family, and I lead a good life.
I do feel bad though. I know I didn't ACT mean to her or anything. I didn't even speak to her. But my feelings of irritation are pretty much overwhelming at this point. I don't like the fact that I feel that way, and I know it's not very Christian. I know we're imperfect, but I still feel like I could do better.
Just looking for thoughts here, kind of a sounding board. Thanks! :)

Believe me when I say I understand completely. Don't feel bad for feeling that way, it's going to happen from time to time. Just try not to let those feelings control the way you act and try not to dwell on them too much either. She was/is a jerk so don't beat yourself up over it. :)
wait a second, was this girl from Long Island?
haha
PAUL O'Neill is more famous as a YANKEE!!!
If I was in your shoes I probably would have had an accident. I would have tripped with a nice platter of greasy fish and spilled it all over her dress and been like oh my gosh im sooooooo sorry oh let me help you.
Nothing says "Up Yours" better :)
Not only was she rude, but they didn't leave a tip?! At all?! That's disgusting! Your current estimation of her is probably correct, but like our km last month: we can't be prejuging ppl. Someday something may cause her to reevaluate her priorities. As long as you stay open to that, you can avoid her all you want IMO.
she sounds like a real treat. it's ok, she's not really happy, even if she thinks she is. she'll wake up one day and realize her life sucks. never envy anybody else
stop trying to be me. i invented ezabel. my name is Brandon!
It definitely makes you less of a piece of paper being written on by the president of nabisco manufacturing that says "hi everybody, hi, do you like oranges?"
The fact that you're concerned by, what you perceive as a personal flaw speaks for itself. You're definately NOT less of a person. A lesser person would not have given a second thought to it ;-)
Whatever this chick has is only temporary.
I WANNA ROCK
As long as you didn't physically harm her or dump pasta on her head (my plan to do that to a kid in school never worked out) I think you're okay!
denial seems impossible!!!
Even funnier. I just found out, that the bar manager was told by the owner (who this chick is good friends with) to name a drink after her. So, they renamed a fairly unknown drink with her name. Best part? The REAL name of the drink is SUPER unflattering, and makes me laugh just thinking of it. I'll probably laugh anytime someone orders it now. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
