HELP!

tesoro by tesoro · Dec 7, 2004 · 331 views · Journal

Hello All!

It's me...I havnt written one of these in a loooong time...but I need to now..because I NEED YOUR HELP! My wedding is VERY quickly approaching...(January 17th...OH MY GOODNESS! :-D ) and we have pretty much EVERYTHING done and figured out...except for two seemingly easy details. Austin and I can't think of a good song for the bridal party to walk in to and for our parents to walk in to. What we want is a fast/fun rock or punk song...for the bridal party and anything fitting for the parents. so let me know what you all think!

THANKS!!

Hah! I think we picked those songs like 2 days before our wedding. We played Infectious Grooves songs, which are private jokes cuz few people know that band.

web-toedchloe #1.1 web-toedchloeOG 2001

Our second choice was the Goldfinger cover of "Just Like Heaven".

fivezero #1.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

I like Goldfinger's cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love." They obliterated that song, in a good way.

shessomepirate #1.1.2 shessomepirateOG 2004

the original is way better though...

fivezero #2 fivezeroOG 2003

I will walk in to Pass the Dutchie by...those little island kids...you may use it too. Or Billy Idol's White Wedding. Maybe even Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin. Perhaps maybe the "snow dance" song from the Edward Scissorhands sndtrck. Dick Dale's Pulp Fiction theme. Awesome surf guitar. I was also thinking of JayZ's 99 Problems, but a...well, you know how the song goes. Oukast's So Fresh and So Clean. Ennio Morricone has done a lot of cool scores for western movies that sound amazing and make awesome atmosphere music. Oh, oh. You said punk? C'monnn, not a punk song. I guess DO like that punk cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Theres tons more. You'll pick a good one, I'm sure.

Oh my word....Ian, that's the scariest thing I've ever heard you say. :)

theremin #2.1.1.2 thereminOG 2002

Hahaha. Not my fault (::looks around with "not my fault, but really is my fault knowledge"::)

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

ooohhh yeahhhhhhhhhhh. you first showed me aphex twin when we were but boys!

theremin thereminOG 2002

Ultimately thank Kev after he played that one with the giggle samples in it for me, when playing music CDs on your computer was really futuristic. No one knows that one title tho, not even him. He threw it out a long time ago. Guess I'll hafta play every Twin title sometime to find out.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

I remember it. Kev used to play an old Aphex Cd all the time. It was called Ventolin. It's GREAT stuff. I have to find it.

theremin thereminOG 2002

I still when I remember back to the time when you told me how you had that CD of mine playing on that bouncing ball track (I'll refrain from quoting the actual title hahah), and you thought it was an instrumental, but when it got to the end of track he says something of dark wit, and you had it blasting while you were laying down in bed, and well, do you know what I'm talking about? or don't remember? hahha

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

Yeah, VERY, VERY shocking. Good stuff.

theremin thereminOG 2002

Funny! I'm laughing now!

Pass the Dutchie song..awesome.

T
#2.3 toxicgirlOG 2003

hey you didn't give me credit for the "pass the dutchie" idea. i can imagine the faces my family would make as i'd walk into a reception room to that. priceless. the b-school meeting after the honeymoon wouldn't be so great though.

sunshyne #2.3.1 sunshyneOG 2004

why? you mean it isnt about little children from the netherlands? kidding.

suchgr8heights #2.3.1.1 suchgr8heightsOG 2003

:) cute, very cute!

sunshyne sunshyneOG 2004

that was my attempt at being deliberately naive. hey, i have a funny story. i will gmail you.

suchgr8heights suchgr8heightsOG 2003

I could use one to go with my afternoon iced coffee break..lay it on me.

sunshyne sunshyneOG 2004

gmail on the way.

sunshyne sunshyneOG 2004

for some reason i think that millencolin would be a good choice. they have alot of cool upbeat songs... how about "man or mouse" or "kemp"? both awesome songs

fire #4 fireOG 2004

stevie wonder's got some great upbeat happy songs. funky groovy old man.

specialk #5 specialkOG 2003

Here's a thought.....we had each couple in our bridal party walk in to seperate songs. Like, the DJ introduced them, and then as they were walking in, we played a small portion of a song that was fitting to one or both members of the couple. Like, for instance, Adam's dad was his best man, and EVERYONE that knows him or my husband knows he likes to build things. So he and my maid of honor (because she totally didn't have an opinion on it and was cool about "going with the flow") walked in to the "Home Improvement" theme song. It was mostly all for fun, and it made everyone smile.
My brother walked (or rather, "strutted") in to a song from "Cowboy Bebop".....needless to say the bridesmaid that walked with him was thoroughly embarassed. :)

fivezero #5.1 fivezeroOG 2003

Cowboy Bebop! Sweet!

specialk #5.1.1 specialkOG 2003

A fan, I presume? :)

fivezero #5.1.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

A mild one, yeah.

deanh77 #6 deanh77Founder

we picked The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony, and an Ozma song I think.

fivezero #6.1 fivezeroOG 2003 stupid

my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

rocksupastar #6.1.1 rocksupastarFounder

i love the Verve... rock on dude

deanh77 #6.1.2 deanh77Founder

The Verve are one of my favorite bands. every song on Urban Hymns is a classic.

forrestina #6.1.2.1 forrestinaOG 2002

liam collaborated with them quite a bit

forrestina #6.2 forrestinaOG 2002

here here. which ozma song?

deanh77 #6.2.1 deanh77Founder

I couldn't remember so I had to ask my wife. It was their cover of the theme to Tetris. (that's the one we walked out to) That band is so great. We saw them in concert not too long ago. at the Bowery, good show, but sadly they didn't play enough of their older stuff, which is so familiar to me. "Lorraine", "Natalie Portman" amazing songs. "Apple Trees" (I think thats the name of the song?)

forrestina #6.2.1.1 forrestinaOG 2002

i only saw them at warped, but i remember they were opening for weezer for a while

sunshyne sunshyneOG 2004

thats where i saw them. them then saves the day then weezer. that show at continental airlines was like an assembly. witnesses from all over jersey (and beyond prolly).

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

witnesses just love weerez.

deanh77 deanh77Founder

yeah, I was there. but my wife was a fan of them for a while before we went to that show. And as soon as I heard their stuff I was hooked.

theremin #6.3 thereminOG 2002

I love The Verve as well. And I follow Ashcroft's solo stuff 'til today. But, very different take than what the Symphony music video brought about. haha

deanh77 #6.3.1 deanh77Founder

yeah, I liked his solo album too. "Song for Lovers" is great.

katiedid #7 katiedidFounder

Our parents and the bridal party walked into that surf-style song that's on our wedding cd.

fivezero #7.1 fivezeroOG 2003

That Dick Dale song? Amazing!
