Let's Get Him!!!

True Story, long but worth the read:

So last night I decided to go to the gym with my brother Alex after my bookstudy. I had forgot to bring my sneakers so I borrowed some from my dad. After the gym, I put my dress shoes back on, dropped off the sneakers at my parents house and my brother and I started driving to my house. So we're in the middle of a pretty serious conversation and just happen to be driving past the baseball field of the college I work at when we hear "*psssssssssss* ... *WAP*" as something hits my car!

At first I thought somebody threw a rock at me, so I pull over real quick and look to see if there's a dent. Instead, I see a pink splotch where somebody shot my car with a paintball as I was driving past. Resisting the urge to jump out of my car and chase after the idiots, I decide it would be better to call the police and let them know. After all, I was driving with my window down, I could've got shot right in the face.

The police dispatcher took my info and after about 5 more minutes a cop shows up and asks what's going on. I told him and said by now the kids are probably long gone, it's been about 10 minutes since we got shot. He says to pull into the parking lot by the baseball field ahead anyway just to see if there's anybody stil there. So we pull ahead with the cop behind us, as we get to the end of the lot we see three kids taking off running. So my brother and I jump out of the car, I look back to see what the cop is doing, but I don't think he sees the kids right away. I hear my brother yell to me "GO! GO! GO!!" so we both take off running after these kids.

Two of them go off to the left and one goes off to the right, we chase the kid to the right, I chase right after him and Alex goes around the other side of the building to cut him off. We're chasing him around the border of the college campus, through the parking lot, and into the town streets. As I'm running in my stupid dress shoes through a construction site on campus, I twist my ankle, but keep going. As I chase him he starts dumping his stuff, first I hear a loud clang as he runs past a garbage bin in one of the parking lots, then as I get closer he chucks his backpack. I stop and pick up the backpack, Alex keeps chasing him through the streets and back onto campus and through one of the dormitories. I tried to cut them off, but they end up going another way and I lose them. I'm kind of ashamed I couldn't catch the kid, then again you do tend to run faster when you are running AWAY than when you are chasing somebody. Plus I'm just getting over being sick and my lungs aren't back to full strength... plus the dress shoes... any other excuses I can use?

So I start walking back to the car carrying the backpack, which by the way has a box of pink bb's in it. I get back to my car and leave the backpack by the parked cop car. I hop in my car and start driving to the other side of campus, trying to find Alex. I see a couple cops on the front lawn and stop to let them know I left the backpack by the car. I ask them if they saw my brother. "Oh the curly haired kid? He went running over to the other side looking for the kid." So I drive over and find my brother who's talking to 4 girls, and the one girl says "oh, look who it is, the guy from the helpdesk."

Alex and I go back to the parking lot, find the paintball gun in the garbage can and drive back to the place where the first cop car was parked to give them the gun. The one cop is just laughing about the whole thing, he said they were communicating on their radios when we first pulled up, he was talking on the CB, "yeah, we just pulled into the field behind the ... oh they've taken off after them!" it is kinda funny. So i say thank you to the cop for their help and he says, "no thank you, in fact, I just want to shake your hand." too funny.

So anyway, no damage to my car so I don't really care anymore, the whole thing is pretty funny. If I had actually caught the kid, I wouldn't have turned him into the cops, I wouldn't have wanted him to get arrested. I just would've wanted to tackle him and be like "do you realize there are 5 cops looking for you and this is the biggest action they've probably ever had? NEVER DO THIS AGAIN! or if you do, don't hang around the scene of the crime for 10 minutes you moron!"

I'm definitely going to try to find out who they are and try to mess with them. Maybe I'll try to claim the backpack and paintball gun from the police station and send out a campus wide email: "If whoever shot my car with a paintball gun last night wants their stuff back, call me at my extension." Or maybe remote into his computer and delete all his school papers. We'll see...
