Taking Pick
by So my lovely sister is getting married to the one and only brother of iwz (ezabel s/n is bozo-Grats BOZO!). Anyways, I got my invitation, but I've got a situation. They said bring a date. Literally. Like a girl. Lol, they even specifically said to me "bring a girl-not a guy to hang with". Kinda weird. The thing is...In my family, we never really talk about relationships. I've liked girls before and even had close relationships with them. But I never talked about it with my parents OR sister, unless I was having trouble getting over it.
Anyways, that just makes this all so awkward. I want to have a good time, and I can think of several girls that would probably...maybe...CONSIDER going with me. Ones I'm pretty close with. I don't know who to pick, w/o sending the wrong message to my parents/sister/date/her family. I'd like to take a girl that can dance. We could boogie till the rugs are all cut to bits. But there are other factors that I want to balance.
I know a few girls under the previous category that are decent dancers, and a few that are not, but who would be willing to dance anyway.
Like I said, it's more complicated-more complicated than I care to relate to all of you. I don't really know what to do. I also don't care to get rejected. *shrug*
So. Uh. Hi. I don't have a date...and I haven't asked one yet. I've got like 6 different possible choices. Some are old friends, some are new friends. Some are better choices than others because of the info I refuse to discuss.
Anyways, I'll name a few:
#1) I have this one old/new friend from pioneer school 6 years ago(she knows my sister from Pio-Schl, too), and just re-established our friendship b/c I saw her recently. She's really awesome. Been to DR to help out in the spanish congs for 2-3 months, she's looking to go to panama to help out for 6 months. Really fun, and cool, and she probably can dance.
#2) I have a newish friend (met her about 6 months ago). Beautiful, gets along great with everyone, really cool, usually very level headed--in fact, outstandingly so-- and spiritual. We're pretty tight. She would love to dance all night, but claims not to be that good. I don't beleive her. She met my sister and her fiance at least once at NINJA.
#3) I know a younger sister from my congregation who can dance pretty good. She's cute and fun and I think we get along pretty good, but I wouldn't want to give the wrong impression to her or anyone in the cong. I have a feeling that picking someone from my cong. would make waves. And I don't know if she'd understand my intensions.
#4) Another sister-my age-from my congregation--i've known her for a while. She's a good dancer, fun to be with, knows my sister and her fiance. But, again, she's from my hall. She'd understand my intensions were merely for fun as a friend, but the cong might not.
There are 2 others, but I'm not going into the details. Because while I know them pretty well, and i'm pretty close to them, there are other factors that make these 2...less viable options. Honestly, all of these women are beautiful.
So, help me pick!

I have been 'the guest' as well as the '& escort'.
For being the one asking I have done it inside and outside my congregation, I am just upfront about it, "I have this event & I need to bring a date, it'll be fun, wanna go?" I keep it light, no relationship type talk. Never had a problem, plus it keeps the stalkers away (i.e. NO, I can't dance with you my date will be right back)!
The flip side, to be asked, the golden rule applies. I have been asked in a similar manner as above, gone and had a blast No pressure as long as you keep it that way.
I have never been accused of being a tease(at least in this type of thing). Yet I don't treat them like a buddy either, I open doors, we go for little walks to get some air, offer my coat etc. It is part of being a gentleman for the evening, your dressed up, more rules of decorum apply.
So bring who you want to.
The caveat being YMMV.
I think you should pick the ugliest one if you are worried about them thinking you like her. Only pick a hot one they don't know. Two words my friend: Intrigue

this is funny because i just had this conversation with someone yesterday, that most of the time JDdubs don't invite their single friends "+ guest" to their wedding, because I guess it would be kind of weird to just bring a date if you're not actually "dating"
The person that I was having this conversation with, and I, both thought it was ridiculous, and that you should just be able to bring a friend to dance with and not have everyone all up in your business and all asking "oooh so when's YOUR wedding?" while raising their eyebrows

I think I saw a few chicks macking on you then, but I didn't see any of those girls really being cool enough for you.
