Star Wars vs Reality
I know I'm gonna get branded as a geek by some lame-o, but it's an interesting thought I had.
The theme of Star Wars is the struggle to regain control of the force that has been overwhelmed by the dark side, by means of a chosen one who will bring balance. We see 2 important characters Anakin and his son Luke, struggle with dark side tendencies. What I find amazing is, those 2 characters could be any of us. We all have moments where anger could overwhelm us at any time and make us do something dark. But...we have that voice of reason, the light side of the force that always calls to us and pulls us back.
That light side is Jehovah's organization. At our darkest hour, when we are about to strike down our figurative enemies with all of our hatred, Jehovah stands in the middle, and extinguishes that notion. I think of Luke looking at his father's mechanical body that is now one hand short after hacking it off, and then his own mechanical hand that he has. At that moment the light side is shining through Luke after he had slipped into a dark tantrum. He remembers his own father's failure to listen to the light and now is faced with making the right decision.
Sometimes making the right decision then causes us great pain. Luke experienced the torturous bolts of lightning from the epitomy of evil, Lord Sidious, aka the Emperor, the very being who was causing the dark side to thrive. The light side allowed Luke to experience this pain, but it did not forget him, because Anakin was resurrected from the charred body of Vader, and saved his son. He fulfilled his purpose, killing off the Sith and bringing back balance to the force. In the end, good overcame evil.
So even though it may seem Jehovah might be forgetting about us, he will come to the rescue when the time is right. Our efforts will not be in vain. We have to keep plugging away and find that strength that is beyond what is normal. Only the light side brings that strength, and only it will conquer the dark side within each of us.

I didn't say it was wrong. I'm just saying there's enough crap on the internet with the term "Jehovah's Organization" and I wouldn't add to that at all. All things are lawful, but not all things are advantageous.

alright, alright nobody has any right to judge anyone else.
all brotherman did was make a comparison from a simple good versus evil story line in a movie, to the truth. you could do that with pretty much any movie. i don't see how it's a bad witness. other than maybe downplaying the entire point of the bible to the level of star wars, but hey jesus used illustrations too.
this comparison might actually work well for teaching some star wars sci phy nut about the bible.

The line between this being a public website and a Witness website needs to remain strong.

I think some missed the point of what I wrote. I'm not saying that Jehovah's Organization is a literal equivalent to the light side of the force. The point of the story is, if you do your best to control yourself from doing seriously wrong things, Jehovah will remember that and give you relief in the end.
I, for one, completely understand your point. But it's a separate issue.
For years, even mentioning anything about the organization has been kept separate from the homepage. Since eZabel 3.0, all of the admin controls are not yet in place, so editorial control has been a bit lax on the homepage. This is just an extension of that.

This is an interesting read, especially since I've always felt the inspiration to make all the Star Wars films came from the Bible.
Yes, the bible and the Roman Empire are big inspirations in making these movies.
interestingly enough i had this conversation with someone only a few days ago.. she said she refuses to watch any of them because the whole series was teaching that evil (satan/the dark side) will win over good (jehovah/ the force) She actually had this whole argument againsts Star Wars and its funny cause her husband loves them
Actually evil never really wins. If you think about it, the time period where the Jedi are destroyed up until Anakin destroys the Sith is like our own history. The fall of the Jedi is like when Adam and Eve disobeyed. When Anakin destroys the Emperor and likewise the evil from within himself, it is like when the end will come and Satan and all evil is destroyed by means of God's Kingdom.
That's missing the point really. It's not teaching that evil will at the end of the day, win. It's going right in line with reality actually, in that, it's true... evil has a powerful handle.. it's can easily take over anyone. That's how is it in this World. Look at how many people on Earth are in the world.. the majority. "The dark side" is the ruler of this system of things. I could be wrong, but I don't feel that Star Wars was made to show that the "dark side" should win.

The dark sides inability to eliminate all the jedi shows that good is going to eventually win.
haha stop trying to force it to work. The Jedi universe stipulates that there is good and evil and always will be. And the balance to the force (the return of evil to power) was forced by that invisible force. So this force caused the evil to regain power and would not let good wipe it out completely. The jedi will win over evil but cannot wipe it out completely
The force was out of balance because the Jedi became complacent as the Sith grew stronger. The sith did not appear from nowhere. They always existed, but hid their presence for 1000 years. Once they were destroyed, evil within the force ceased to exist. Evil inclinations would always exist in the Star Wars universe, but the evil that corrupted the force was gone forever. At least from the POV of the movies that is how it is. I could care less what the books say.

i'm not talking books i'm talking from the movies. They never say that evil ceases to exist. And they never say that all the evil is wiped out in the universe and will never come back. Do they? I need facts here.
All I'm trying to say is that the philosophy they put forward is that, 'Good triumphs over evil but will never get rid of it so just try to be good and that is all that is required.' Which I think is diametrically opposed to the tenets of the bible and is subtley a pervasive worldy philosophy so I'd advise caution in advancing it with a newer person. And certainly not with anyone who is a star wars nerd, which i feel like right nwo
Evil never goes away in the SW universe, but the sith do. The line of masters was broken after Sidious died. So after they are gone, evil is just kept under control. SW never was meant to be a direct comparison to the bible. It just uses biblical elements.

honestly, if you're witnessing to someone who's into sci-fi you can illustrate this to make them understand. i do that with movies etc sometimes....jesus taught us to use illustrations etc...something that the person we're witnessing to can relate. and this, many can relate. good job!
I don't really look at it as Sci-fi though. I look at it as a classic swash-buckling epic that incorporates some Sci-fi elements. The story of Star Wars is basically a mirror of human history in a way. That is why I don't understand why some call it lame. Star Trek is lame. It's too geeky for me. With Star Wars, you have a story that reaches the heart. It is the struggle of good vs evil. It is an emotional roller coaster, much like life in general.

Yeah, I'm in the minority though. I'm not a sci-fi peep. The sci-fi peeps have their own Jedi religion though. It'd be tough to get through to them. LOL!

obviously a major difference is how there will always be the dark side and there is really no way to get rid of it in the SW universe...
The destruction of the Sith balanced the force. We are left to believe the dark side would never be in control again. Feelings of hate and anger would continue sure, but they would never overtake everything in the galaxy ever again.
the series continues. Dark and evil keep going. It wasn't just the movies they have a whole series of books and such and no one knows what happens in the future. evil is never really gotten rid of

Hahaha...That actually falls in line with the Roman Empire. In the end, it was barbarians and tribal people that defeated the remnants of that empire. So the Ewoks kicking storm trooper butt is a reflection of that.
