The Amazing Spider-Man
by Like probably EVERONE else, I picked up my Spidey DVD... such an awesome movie... the BEST comic book based movie that, in my opinion, has ever been made.
Why? Well, the flavor of the comic book is all there... sure, there are some minor differences, such as the organic web-shooters and the spider that bit Peter (genetically engineered, not radioactive)... the Goblin's costume was different, but these are all essential updates to bring Spidey into 2002, rather than having him stuck in 1962.
All the little bits of humor are pure Marvel, right down to "Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." The characters looked like the comic book counterparts and I noticed that really all of the characters were a nice mix of artistic styles (Peter, Jameson and one of the board members looked like Steve Ditko drew them... Mary Jane was the definitive John Romita Sr version, Spider-Man was such a mix of McFarlane, Ditko, Romita Sr and Jr, Zeck and others, while some of the costume elements were enhanced for the movie).
Ain't It Cool News reports Spider-Man 2 AND 3 are on the planning board and I can't wait! Will Harry become the Hobgoblin? Peter mentions Dr Connors, so will the Lizard make an appearance? How about Dr Octopus, or Venom??? Hopefully we will see a few more Spidey movies before the system ends!

Yeah, unfortuately, that was a "Post-Crisis" innovation. Before the epic 1985 series "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Superman COULD pro-create with an Earth woman and had a legacy that lasted on into the 30th Century, at least. But it happily looks like at lot of those innovations are coming undone.

all I'm gonna say is: This debate is old. Lucas said no before he started the prequels. And all those books that people wrote were just pieces of fiction that had nothing to do with Lucas's vision. He didn't write them or set plot lines for them. He just let people licen$$e his charachters and pretty much do whatever they wanted with them. They are apocrypha.
well listen, if george lucas isn't going to be around in the new system to make them, someone is going to have to. easier to start with something already written, i always say. but i would much rather have something more interesting to debate. you think george lucas planned for luke and leia to be related? cause they are making out all over the place in the 1st and 2nd ones.

Well see..I'm very confused about this. I used to follow the books semi-religiously and have read all the 28 that I have at least 5 times. However, somewhere in the mix I got a bit lost..between added Admiral Thrawn books and all I think. Callista was a Jedi that was dead, but had kept her spirit alive. One of Luke's students sacrficed her life and Callista took her body however she could no longer use the Force. So she ran away. Luke goes to this one planet to look for her and that's the book that got me lost. I stopped reading them after that. However, talking with someone one day I discovered that someone screwed up and made Luke marry Mara Jade eventually! And how she became a powerful Jedi..such a lie since it was always emphasised how she had little strength in the Force.

Pure confusion I tell you. I think I have spectors of the past..or maybe vision of the future..i only have one though so perhaps that's why I was confused. I like the Jedi Academy series..and..oh no use naming them all.
you can borrow some of mine if you want i probably have some of the ones your missing... the one im reading right now is awesome... the 2 part series about when admiral thrawn is supposedly coming back, but its that guy that looks like him, or whatever... good book
I must have read the second one in that series because I didn't understand it at all..even though I read it twice, it just didn't make sense. Admiral Thrawn is the man because he's the good bad guy. Like, he's such a genius you almost or do want him to win.

I think that makes him even better! Because he was shunned he was so ambitious...needed to go that extra mile to get to the top. Or maybe it's just that blue skin and red eyes, so hot!

I would totally go to that!! At Palisades it's good cause it's been empty up there every time I go. I saw Beuty and the Beast there last winter..soo cool, star wars would be a bit different I suppose.

i liked Superman, The Movie (1978). very campy, but then so was the comic book.
YEah, the first Superman and Batman movies were good, but I never thought they had all the elements of the comics to make them TRUE adaptaions....
