carpooling

forrestina by forrestina · Dec 13, 2002 · 244 views · · · News

how ridiculous does everyone think this carpooling thing is? it wouldnt be an issue for me since i never drive into the city but i know so many people who commute alone since they work wierd hours. i think this will totally stink if it actually happens.

laws about carpoolin have also gone into affect in Ca. i guess we're a few generations ahead of you in anal retentiveness.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

i'm not sure it's the same kind...if there's a transit strike, then to go in or out of nyc, each car needs at least FOUR passengers...yikes!

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

we have a bethel couple in our cong. it'll be a real adjustment if they have to carpool with another couple.

I think it's absurd that if you want to go they will have stations where you can pick up totaly strangers to drive with you! What a great idea..and maybe while you're driving you they can rape you and steal all your money.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

is that what they're suggesting? that's ridiculous!

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002 ·

Bloomberg is suggesting it for NYC I believe

magnum magnumOG 2001 ·

im sure bloomberg does that, oh wait he has a private helicopter he uses.... mmmm nice!

punkprincess punkprincessOG 2001 ·

he actually said to use your bike... hahahahaha

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 ·

hmm yea.. you can't car pool a motorcycle.. that works.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002 ·

yeah, the carpooling idea is funny. what if you go with someone, they drop you off, then they just don't pick you up? you're stuck in NYC, probably have to sleep on the street or in your office, thats not fun.

I work in NYC, and if there's a transit strike, I'm just not going in. the cool thing about my job is I can work at home if there is a compelling reason, like I woke up late, or its kinda chilly outside, or I really have to go to the mall for something.

Yet I'm the one who's about to get fired for taking my second sick day in a year.

jay79 jay79OG 2001 ·

are they really strict about that?? I would def be fired already if mine was. I take like one, every other week.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

hey that's a good point..what's normal for a fulltime job for vacation/sick time/personal days??

jay79 jay79OG 2001 ·

I get like 17 days a year, but that's with sick days included

iwz iwz ·

i get 3 weeks/unlimited/2 days

deanh77 deanh77Founder ·

I'm jealous. I get 10/kinda unlimited/0. and they don't (as I regretfully found out last week) roll over to the next year if unused.

iwz iwz ·

yeah, mine don't rollover to the next year either.

boredatwork boredatworkOG 2002 ·

I get 6 weeks vacation, a week or 2 of personal and a week of sick days. That's why it's retarded. I've only taken 2 days out of a week's worth! Ans my time doesn't roll over either. I should take the rest of the year off!

deanh77 deanh77Founder ·

6 weeks.... wow. I'll only have 1 week left after january...

boredatwork boredatworkOG 2002 ·

better start adding up some vacation time. =)

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 ·

2 weeks / unlimited / 1 week. but the unlimited thing is funny. you dont want to abuse it. but there's really no checking. you can always work at home too. i've had instances where if i didn't come in i can say... contact me here and life is good.

iwz iwz ·

ooh my company keeps track of sick days. so even though they're "unlimited", you could still get in trouble for taking too many.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

so then they can't be 'unlimited'.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

i dont get any time off-i just dont come in when i dont feel like it and then make up the time

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

which is why you're not going to canada! nice going!

jay79 jay79OG 2001 ·

hey, how about you shut up. You're just upset that there aren't going to be any girls going this time that will try to sneak into your room late at night and take advantage of you.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

who says there won't be! ;)

jay79 jay79OG 2001 ·

you and mom don't count. You're married, and mom is....old

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·
