Bass Guitar Goodness
by So I went to Guitar Center with rocksupastar Saturday so he could get a new amp (nice Crate 120 watt job).. for me, it was a SPECIAL day...
I went to the bass section, as usual... they had 2 used Rickenbacker basses. A 4001 and 4003 model. I picked up the 4001, plugged it in and started playing it. VERY NICE.. felt very McCartney-ish from Sgt Pepper into Wings (I am a righty, though). VERY VERY nice bass...
So when I thought things couldn't get better, after playing a Gretsch bass and a Fender... Mike went to get the amp all paid for and then my jaw dropped... I saw on display in the corner...
A 1967 Hofner violin bass guitar... like Paul's... I have the clone of this bass, but this was the real deal. I asked the sales guy, as he was about to get Mike's bass (and after I told Mike that he's at Guitar Center.. play whatever guitars you want)... "Uh, before you get that amp for him.. ca-ca-can I play the Hofner?"
"Of course.. let me get it for you!"
So, I plugged it into a nice 350 watt amp and played "Day Tripper", "Hash Pipe" by Weezer and a couple other tunes... so much LIGHTER than the clone I have and so sooooo sweet. If it wasn't $2500.00 it would be mine. Actually, that IS a great price. New ones go for upwards of $2000.00.
Oh yea, Mike's happy with the amp...

yes these plans were made a while back so it was decided i may keep them. and i forgot about my prison sentence-i hope sunday will be possible. i'll let you know....
