Difficult Situation (Updated)
by Well, i recieved a call last night from my boss about me working late on a meeting night. I told him obviously that i couldnt work cause i have the meeting at 7 30... although i could work till then. Anyway, it seems that the guy that i work with all the time, the coolest guy outta the entire company as far as im concerned... "was no longer an employee of Global Online" as my boss put it. This shocked me. I mean the last time we were working together he seemed ok, just a little pissed about his salary. But then again, who ISNT pissed about thier salary. Almost everyone wants to get more money. But the thing that killed me about the whole situation was, he told me how much he was making, and it was a whole dollar and a half less then me. And this guy is going to Chubb AND has a little daughter. I dont know how he was managing it. I felt a bit bad, so i mentioned maybe he should talk to my boss about it, they would give him a raise. And now i find out that he had been fired or terminated or a little bit of both. But anyways this is all irrelivent being that he is now gone, and i kinda feel like it was my fault that he get all mad and i guess went to my boss. Hmmm anyways.. just venting anybody have any suggestions on what to tell my boss when he talks to me about this?

well i was in an interview last night before the meeting, and my boss was speaking to all the techs.. just about stuff in general. But when it came to "Personal Information", he kinda looked at me, and then i figured out that he knew ALL about it. So i spoke to him after the meeting and told him that it WAS my fault that my co worker got all worked up. And he agreed, he said it wasnt my FAULT per say, but that i sparked it. He was fired because of several different reasons, not just that one. So i guess that was my warning, and im also not allowed to connect to AIM express anymore.. which sucks.. but its work right? haha anyawys.. thanks for all the help you guys!

You can't look at this as if it's your fault. If the guy didn't feel like he was making enough money, and you knew he wasn't making enough, then he had every right to walk into his bosses office and ask for more. The thing is, people DON'T get fired for asking for a raise. So, don't worry about it, dude. You're in the clear. Just try not to mention to your boss that you knew how much the other guy was making.
yea... i know that much.. i kinda just feel that if i hadnt mentioned to him that he SHOULD go in and ask for money, he wouldnt have ever brought it up and got himself all worked up and gotten himself fired.
It's possible that your boss was aready planning on letting him go. And, either way, if he was already upset about his pay, he would have gone in and talked about it sooner or later.
I wouldn't worry about it. I would of told the guy the same thing. 'Cause if he was unhappy, he should have asked for more money. He was the one who got himself all worked up anyway. Also, if he is in the process of going to CHUBB, he's probably just getting into doing that type of work, and that job will be experience on his resume for him to get a better job. I would see it as doing him a favor.
plus how hard is it to live on that amount of money, especially if he's living on his own with a family. you can find better jobs than that easily.
Yeah, since Mike is making like 6.50 an hour, this guy must have been working for under minimum wage. So, he should be able to easily make more money at Shop Rite.
