District Convention Memories
Since Ian wants more news stories...
So, this weekend was our convention... all I can say is it's the BEST convention
weekend I think I've EVER had. The program was great, just what was needed!!!!
Here are some of my highlights:
Our Congregation Cleaning Assignment: VERY well supported all
three days. We only got six brooms per congregation, so any late comers were left
holding the bag... literally. Thanks to everyone who helped!!!
The Program: Oh, man... the information for me was great...
Friday's keynote address on being fired with zeal, the talks on being chaste (not chased),
guarding against deception, the symposiums, the experiences, the public talk on the scene
of the world changing... WOW!!! All great parts. The sessions flew by!
The Association: Do you know how many people I saw that I
haven't seen in YEARS???? One couple I saw, it has been over a decade... being able see
all these friends I have been thinking about and the strange thing is that IT WASN'T THEIR
CONVENTION!!!! So cool! Then, on the way home Sunday, one of the families I
have been wanting to see for the longest time (I saw them over the weekend at the
convention) called me to go to dinner... I was in Rockaway, so I made a stop to change and
headed back to Parsippany... awesome!
At the hotel over the weekend, Toddy B showed me a few bass lines, Johnny H and I hung
out, it was so relaxing. My dad and I survived, BTW...
I had such a great time... I'm fired up!!!

i agree, this was one of the best conventions, and i went to one day of another convention and bro. barber was the guest speaker, it was really great.
Br. Barber was the speaker for the last parts on the first 2 days and said the prayer on the last day for us.... SO nice! I love the cane wavin! :-D
I think it's funny that the cleaning assignment is your first highlight. haha.
I should have noted that I was the cleaning captain for our congregation... ha ha!
the convention was really great, it's always so encouraging. one thing they should do though, for the last part, they should say "PLEASE HOLD YOUR APPLAUSE UNTIL THE END!"
YES! but how much fun is it when you "start the clapping" hahaha i love doing that essp. at the Stanley Theater during the star show hahahahahahha see how many times we get the whole place to clap... hahahaha
have you ever really thought about how bizzare clapping is? A bunch of humans slapping their hands together to create a sound that signifies appreciation
or that you look like a seal while doing it.
arf arf arf
you look like a seal anyway :P
whatever youre ugly.
:(...howd you know???????????
Where is the love?
it's not enough
i've oft thought of that.
I've thought about it too. It actually bugs me sometimes to the point where I refuse to clap..or I pretend to.
usually if its a part that you know there will be a lot of clapping (like a new book) vanessa and i see how long we can clap. like everyone else is sitting there and we'll be tapping index fingers and thumbs together. longest? 3 talks.
you got issues, thats not even in the weird category, its in PLAIN dumb!
hey, IIII thought it was funny unemployed boy!!!!
hahha. i am guessing a trend. is someone here unemployed? thanks for the stick up mike!
hahaha.. yea it IS a trend....
shudup u pansy wannabe techy nerd!
haha, i used to do that all the time!
WHEN I WAS 10!!!
you never went to the stanley theater... you dont know what that means. so ZIPP it
I used to go there... I know what you mean!
YEAAAAAAAAAAA tina!!!!!! i was doing that this convention too.. it was GREAT it WORKS!!! katie said i couldnt do it anymore... but the guy infront of me thought it was GREAT!!!! hahaha
yeah, you know what everyone? It's GREAT to be fooling around at the assembly. (do you sense the sarcasm, you should)
exactly. i love it when i see people who bring pillows and blankets to the conventions, like they're planning on sleeping. why even go?
one time i made the mistake of making fun of someone who brought a pillow, she later told me she had some surgery or problem and could only go if she brought one.oopps!
Yeah, on Saturday morning, there was a sister in my area who brought a pillow and blanket... I was like "The program shouldn't be THAT boring today" She just laughed and ran to another section... ha ha haaaa
actually, its just showing that i am enthused about the baptisims
sure
I should have been more subjective on that. When people are getting baptised, clapping is always good, even if you're starting it. But during the parts, that same thing would be considered fooling around.
I noticed on the baptism, there was some cheering... contrary to the counsel we get... I also get all flustered when the brother announcing the drama specifically says "Do not take flash pictures" and 10 seconds into the drama, guess what??? Flashes going off all over!!!
i also get peeved when i see some kids steal a bunch of boxes of new releases, open em up and start playing jenga with the books right in the middle of the hallway. sure that never happens, and probably never will, but i get so mad about thinking of it POSSIBLY happening that i miss all of the talks
Why do you imagine something like that? It's secretly something you've always wanted to do isn't it!
Well, it's just not the same since we went to the paperback books... hardcovers were a lot better for Jenga!
ok ok dave, ill confess.. i set my camera to not do a flash, but then i turned it off and then i turned it back on.. and it flashed once.. im SORRRY i didnt mean to, i really didnt!!!!
Accidents are okay, but DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!! :-I
yes i have, that's where i went when i was young
Are ther any good convention pics???

ok... why was your CLEANING assignment your #1 highlight?!?
