Musical Memories
I was listening to my stereo at work last night, as I usually do, and since I had
downloaded a ton of new MP3s in the past week, I made a new MP3 CD...
So in listening to this new CD, the song "(Just Like) Starting Over" by John
Lennon came on. I haven't heard this song in years and I was taken back to December
9, 1980... the day Lennon died. What a vivid memory that song brought up. All
the emotion of that day just hit me.
Other songs take me back... the whole first Boston album, as well as Meat Loaf's
"Bat Out of Hell" take me back to Home Ec at good old Brooklawn Jr. High School
and ANYTHING from 1982-83 reminds me of my Senior year of high school.
I was wondering about what songs invoke certain memories among everyone here...

oh man, i could write a book w/ all the songs that are associated with memories...nothing i'd like to share though...but i love that...cuz as soon as you hear the song ur immediatly reminded...of course most of the times its happy memories but sometimes they're sad...and then it just gets ya remanicing.....hmmm....
we had a journal entry about this whole spiel anyway that barney song " i love you you love me " reminds me of " i hate you you hate me i wanna shoot you with an arrow " something like that when we were in third grade making fun of it and i got hit with a block of ice. and i got yelled at from my teacher for writing to small. and one of my teachers wore a short mini leather skirt. and gave us a pizza party. and i was a patrol
i hated those stupid patrols.
you're not a patroll, you're just a troll
i only got to be a bathroom-break line leader when we lined up in reverse-alphabetical order. it's not easy bein a Z
Blink 182, Dude Ranch cd... was MY cd... hmm for like 2 years when i was 16 and 17. MY theme song was of course... well "Growing Up" was its edited name. But that was my theme song, whenever i hear that, brings me back to when i would listen to that song like OVER and OVER again.... wow...
i thought that savage garden was?
shutup matt... dont even get me STARTED on you... need i upload that video you have of you in rachels shirt and dancing around singing n'sync....
haha, the only diff was that i did it as a joke! come on guys sing along "i wanna stand with you on a mountain, i wanna lay with you in the sea...blah blah blah blah blah blah"
what REALLY is scary is the fact that you REMEMBER the lyrics..... ahem.. cough cough FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG cough cough
Say what you will about Savage Garden, but I have a respect for them... yeah, their stuff is sugary, but when I went to the 2000 Zootopia, they were one of the acts... they had just gotten there a couple of hours beforehand from Australia with very little sleep and went on to perform... chinka-cherry-cola
HAHA upload it! its so great to see friends embarass each other!
i think a memory song is and sublime's "santeria" is of course anytime of driving with lynz and sammie because its in every cd we have. and bsb, "larger than life" we had a sleepover and all made up dances to songs, rembember heather? our was so the best!!! martha and the vandettas "dancing in the street" that was the first song i ever really danced with my dad.
Cross out the Eye from Thursday...every time I hear that song I get flashbacks of my sister getting crushed by a crowd of people, a group of us trying to get her and ourselves out, 4 smelly, sweaty, BIG guys falling on top of me, a bloody nose and a broken cell phone...yup, memories can be waaay too vivid
if i ever hear cross out your eyes again i'm pretty sure it'll bring back the memory of driving near st.louis and finding 12 dead bodies contorted in weird positions and like a zillion cop cars.
I always think of that trip when I hear that song thai. Was it you that saw that? I thought it was karl for some reason..
Well whoever was driving at the time saw that and I was riding shotgun, they woke me up and told me and I was like, "whatever" and went back to sleep. haha. I think what you saw was a truck carrying mannequins that ran off the road.
you were like " whatever it's 4 in the morning i don't care about 12 dead bodies contorted into the shape of a pengtagram and the star of david. bye"
me and bobby mc gee by janis joplin reminds me of last year's camping trip cause me and julie couldn't get it out of our heads and sang it till everyone wanted to shoot us.
That song is a lost CLASSIC!!! I was watching SNL on E! earlier and Boz Scaggs was the musical guest... so much of his stuff is classic too!
hahha. oh definetely as soon as i saw you made i comment, i was like she's gonna say bobby mcgee. and it wasn't even the whole song. it was just the same verse. i woulda killed us too.
"And maybe I'd impress her, by being in a band, and maybe if i act real tough, she'll let me hold her hand and maybe i'll win her heart, by writing this song about her, sometimes i sit at home and wonder if shes sitting at home and thinking of me and wondering if i'm sitting at home thinking about her, or am I just wasting my time?"-WAY old school blink 182
YEA!!! dan!!! woohooo... see atleast SOME people have some taste...
Santeria..as Julie said up there ^ definetly holds some memories, especially of me driving for the first time. Anything by The Donnas cause that reminds me of my first show! "Electric Youth" by whats her name..reminds me of my sister and I making up coordinated dances as children (or more like my older sister bossing me around making me dance to the coordinated dances she made up)
Electric Youth!!! HA HA! I forgot all about Debbie Gibson, which was a good thing!
wow your old (no offenses) I was born in 1983. So I guess I could say those songs take me back to my mother's womb.
.... grrr .... >:-(
