unrest everywhere

Just to show how widespread it is, let me paint you a picture...

A tiny aging Roman city, still surrounded by its old walls, a tourist hotspot, it houses an ancient Cathedral and town hall, it also has a unique shopping centre called The Rows, which are 2 tier edwardian buildings in black and white timber converted into modern shops, a scenic river running through it, with a rowing club and bandstand on its banks, it even still has the town crier who does his bit every day...this is where I live, Chester, sounds nice doesn’t it?.

Now anyone who has seen it or been there (skaorsk8) will tell you that, as beautiful as it may be, its the smallest most boring place to live. However it’s not all it seems! In the last 6 months the local mayor has told of how he wont let his teenage daughters out after dark to pubs and clubs in the city centre, and we have also had 6 suspicious deaths in about 3 weeks! One was suspected to have been thrown over the suspension bridge and drowned in the river in a drunken brawl, one was beaten to death because he looked at a guy the wrong way, one was found dead lying in the middle of the road in the city centre, add the number of armed robberies and vandalism..the list goes on and keeps going on...infact its considered "safer" to go to the nearest big city (Liverpool).

It also has a huge drug problem. Ive worked in several pharmacies in and around the city walls and its there that Ive witnessed just how widespread drugs are. This doesnt all just come from the rough area either, its starting to spread everywhere, Ive only lived here 7 years but Ive noticed a huge change in peoples attitudes and the scale of horrible acts of violence.

So you see its not just major cities anymore, it’s right on our doorsteps and its scary! It does make me smile sometimes though, cuz I know it wont be long now til Revelation 20 – 21 v 4 is fulfilled. Being able to view it all like that is the benefit of the privileged standing we have isnt it? Wow…..it didn’t look that long in my head! Hope I didn’t bore you into comas...
